Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread XV: Kübler-Ross Edition

Okay maybe I exaggerated a bit. But I do wonder who's canonically the most powerful being in Nintendo games.

Palutena, Ness, Lucario/Mewtwo, and Ganondorf are all up there. Ness was basically the most competent fighter in the SSE cutscenes, so I like to go with him in this regard, but I think Palutena takes it just by way of being a goddess. Assuming Ness can't just blow her up with his mind.

So you have 'custom profiles' you have to set up yourself outside the CSS, but after you do so you can access that profile straight from the CSS?

My understanding was that at the CSS, you can get to this, and it allows you to select profiles. You can make a new one using it, or just select one you've already established.
Could be understanding this incorrectly, though.

Ness couldn't even beat his own final boss without my help, so while he's extremely strong, I wouldn't say he's the most powerful.

Kind of a harsh way to judge power levels considering Ness was fighting the incarnation of all evil and people like Mario just have to jump on an over-sized Koopa's head. =p

It's easily Kirby the guy beats evil entities and gods all the time. His power is insane.

That's awesome! I'm really excited about the customization aspects of this game.

I assume you can also upload the custom profiles onto an amiibo.
Bingo, this is what I'm hoping. It would be kind of adorable if in a tournament people can walk up, scan a little Kirby amiibo, and load in their custom move/equipment setup.

Ok Zipzo just broke it down: When you select the custom menu, it takes you to that screen. The first pic there is Vanilla Capt. Falcon. The question mark box below is like a "create new profile" icon, and when you click it it takes you to the "Customize moves and equipment" menu that we've all seen.

When you choose it you can go back to the profile selection menu and choose it and then it takes you to the stage selection screen.

After a match, it'll bring you back to the custom profile menu if you want to change it or not.

Oh god, I'm so excited for Custom movesets now after hearing that! :D

Kirby's a world breaker. He doesn't seem like he should stand toe to toe with much of anyone, but then he pulls something out and warps reality with a single inhale. It's both adorable and terrifying. I'd choose him as a wild card option, at any rate.

Yo, we can settle the Super Bash Sisters fight once the game comes out.
Besides, it's down to how well we can move these characters.

Sounds good. Customization hype raise!

Kirby's inhale seems like Hulk's anger in the Marvel Universe.

I'm guessing say, Palutena could defeat him by herseft seeing as she's the Goddess of Light and all, but who knows.

If Kirby got Shulk's hair, how would you tell him apart from Robin Kirby?

Oh, that'd be no trouble. Shulk is blond, and his hair is longer and it falls on his head differently. Robin (and thus Robin Kirby) has a single tuft of hair that hangs in front of his ear (and Kirby's arm.) Shulk's hair completely covers his ear.

Shulk Kirby should have Shulk's hair and the Monado on his back.

He had nothing to do with the original Canvas Curse (his last Kirby game was Air Ride, which Smash Run shares a TON with), so I doubt it.

In light of this, I've really got to hand it to the people who made Triple Deluxe: I wouldn't have known Sakurai wasn't involved if you hadn't told me. It feels like an authentic Kirby game in every respect.

This game will last at Evo, I can feel it.

The metagame won't be as deep as Melee, but I can see this game having competitive value. I do think some characters will end up with the short stick BIG TIME. I hope I am wrong and maybe custom moves might change that, but you can't change normals, grabs, weight, and speed!

Oh, and of course casual and the less competitive will eat this up.

I've seen a lot of people questioning how the CSS has been designed, and in particular the "Clone corner". However, the stage select screen has clearly been reshuffled, so what if the CSS has too? After all, with the clones being late adds, it'd make sense for them to linger alone at the bottom corner of the screen.

Also, the final row is odd in that it's clearly always devoted to third parties, a group that for some reason includes Shulk, in every single variation we've seen.

Without really following the competitive scene, this is the basic gist I'm getting too. There's no dash-dancing, but the landing lag situation sounds very move-specific and not as much of the oddity it was coming up as in the E3 demo.

Just hope Shulk/Robin aren't Meta Knight situations. I don't think you had to be competitive to work out mashing 'B' could win you quite a lot of regular matches.

Also, random fact: Villager's watering can (step two of Down B) functions just like Mario's FLUDD as far as I can tell. I tried watering a sapling inside of Gardevoir's Reflect barrier, and Villager went flying backwards (no damage, of course).

Oh wait, Palutena can't move while the wall is up?

Aw, that's lamer than I thought. :k

I'm pretty sure the summoning animation lasted the entire time the wall was active. I guess the idea was that she doesn't move because the wall moves for her. As this video shows, Palutena waves her arms the entire time the wall is in play.

Starting the Viridi for Smash 6 thread at SmashBoards.

I fully support your endeavors!

Hmmm, I think Zipzo is misinterpreting the question mark box. It said おまかせ (Random), and it randomly assigns a selection of equipment and (possibly) specials. I tried selecting it, but since no alternate specials or equipment were available in the trial, everything remained the same. However, a little circular graph (like the one in this picture) showed up in the bottom left corner of the character portrait on the bottom screen. (The circular graph/meter was equal parts orange, green, and blue, presumably indicating that no equipment = the "standard" version of that character.)
