Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread XV: Kübler-Ross Edition

Just curious what kind of questions people would commonly asked in Smash 3DS OT?

I decided to work on bonus section for Q & A


I already added CCP question.
 
Smash is going to be the first game that me and all of my friends play together since who knows how long. All thanks to there being a 3DS version.

No but really, have you tried looking for players locally? Not sure how it is in your area, but around here there are tournaments every 2-3 weeks, filled with people that would be willing to hang out and play some SSB now and then.

I was always frustrated that none of my family, even the ones that played games, would play Smash with me often. One of the first times I went over to a friend's house, was actually to play him at Smash Bros. We were friends because of Pokemon, but Smash was the more compelling reason to get together and play. Actually that's the reason I know most of my friends now, either from Smash Bros. or Pokemon. Some in grade school, some from Smash Bros. tournaments/community or whatever in the past few years, but that's usually the common thread.

Is Ridley in this game? The intro clouds seemed to foreshadow him...

Why is everyone so mad about the roster?

How do I wavedash?

Why can't Marth speak English?

I jumped off 700 times and still don't have Mewtwo. What gives?

How do you do aerials without a C-stick? Why does Nintendo hate us enough not to give CPP support? Edit: Oops, reading comprehension.

How do I unlock the characters?

Will the same characters be in the Wii U version?

What is Smash Run?

Should I recover?
 
If Mario Kart DS counts as a ROB game, then only Wii Fit Trainer and Duck Hunt are the only two games I haven't played yet with a character in Smash.

Interesting, but the only games I haven't played are ones that require peripherals!

Oh wait, Shulk. Forgot about him, haven't played his game either. Only series I haven't played that doesn't require a hunk of plastic!

Tropical Freeze is my GOTY so far... easily. I feel like the only games that have a shot of taking that spot are Smash U or Evil Within. Maaaaaaaaaaybe Bayo 2 or Destiny.

Played Zelda ALTTP, ALBW, and Oracles, the franchise didn't really click with me

Played Pac-Man NES, Pac-Mania Arcade, Pac-Man Adventures PS1, and Pac-Man Collection DX
Played Pikmin
Played Punch Out NES
Played Kid Icarus NES, Kid Icarus Uprising
Played Megaman 1-10, X 1-8, Legends 1-2 and MoTB, BN 1-3
Played Xenoblade for a bit
Uses Wii Fit for morning exercises

Some things I can think of:

- whether local or online play will be region-locked or not
- how to execute a grab command in the 3DS version (I was asked about it thrice because 3DS has no ZR/ZL)
- use of touch screen in battle.
- how to select Final Destination mode of the stage

Some Questions for the newbies:

When does it come out? Sept 13 in japan, Oct 13 everywhere else
Will the roster be different from Wii U? No
Will the stages be different from Wii U? Most, but not all
Is it 60FPS? Yes, but assist trophies and pokeballs will be 30fps
Will it have online play? Yes - with friends and with anyone, where you have 'for fun' and 'for glory'
Will it have street pass? Yes - but we don't have a name for the mode yet, it's the top/pin game
Can I take screenshots? Yes
Can I save replays? Yes, but we don't know the limitations yet
Is there a single player mode? Yes, classic mode, all stars, and Stadium events, like Target Blast and Home Run contest.

Questions we don't have definitive answers for:
How many characters are there?
How many stages are there?
How many trophies/collectibles are there?
Is smash run online?

Evil within? I loved RE4, but everything I've seen about evil within doesn't look promising to me. Let me know what you think about it, I guess, but I'll almost definitely be waiting for a steam sale unless it's absolutely atrocious.

Are you even gonna get destiny w/ smash being 4 days later? ;p

Played a buncha Mario platformers and RPGs
Wario Ware: played the shit out of that
Never played G&W
Tropical Freeze is awesome
Lots and lots of Zelda
Tried some Metroid games but weren't for me
Played only the first chapter of KI:U on a friends 3DS so doesn't really count
Never touched Fire Emblem
I've played Kirby's Epic Yarn. So that counts.
Haven't played Punch-Out!!
I've touched upon some Star Fox games, but no serious play time.
I have Pikachu, Charizard and Lucario in Pokémon X.
I've actually played Duck Hunt
Who HAS seen a ROB?
Played a bit of Earthbound
I have played the F-Zero AX cabinet. It was awesome.
Animal Crossing: Wild World was my life for a time. New leaf I played for a couple weeks, no idea why it didn't click.
Never played a Pikmin game.
Never played Wii Fit.
I have tried Dr. Mario :P
Xenoblade is at 90 hours
Pac-Man CE DX+ is the greatest thing to grace video games
Mega Man is also the greatest thing to grace video games
Sonic 2 was the first game I ever played

I'm hoping Evil Withing just comes outta nowhere and is amazing as hell. I've been iffy on it but some of the threads lately are getting me a lot more excited, I want it to turn out well more than any other game this year.

Haven't really thought about a list yet, but atleast with best OST Tropical Freeze will be really hard to top.

No, but seriously, you don't have idea how people tend to ask the most silly questions so you have to add questions like..
-Does the 3DS game have the same roster as the Wii U version?
-What kind of connectivity do both games have?
-if I don't like it, can I customize the button layout in this game?
-Is this game getting DLC characters/stages, etc?

Think whatever most obvious thing about this game and turn it into a question for your FAQ.
 
I wonder if Smash 3DS and Smash Wii U will be counted as separate games in the GAF GOTY thread? Would suck if so because the votes will be split into two.

The little paragraph on Daisy in the Prima guide for Mario Kart Double Dash gives her more personality than any actual game. It's pretty sad.

They will be.
Especially since not everyone is going to have both.
Had they been launched the same day then maybe they would have been counted as one.

Played through half of Yoshi's Island then lost my save data and never went back
Beaten every Pokemon game with a complete Pokedex
Beaten Metroid Zero Mission, Super, Fusion, Other M, Prime Hunters and Prime 3, played through half of Prime 2 but got stuck and never went back. Missing II and Prime 1
Beaten Star Fox 64, Assault and Command
Beaten Wario Ware Mega Microgames and Touched, played a bit of Wario Land 4, didn't like it
Beaten both Kid Icarus and Uprising
Beaten Kirby's Adventure, Super Star, Canvas Curse, Squeak Squad. Played Dream Land 3, 64 Crystal Shards
Played Ice Climbers
Closest I've got to ROB is Mario Kart DS
Played F-Zero SNES
Beaten Earthbound and Mother 3 (played a bit of Mother 1)
Beaten Fire Emblem Awakening and the Sacred Stones GBA game, haven't touched any others

Played a bit of Game and Watch here and there through various means
Got pretty far in Punch-Out NES and have just ordered Punch-Out for Wii
