Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread XV: Kübler-Ross Edition

That really is exactly the situation. If tier list guessing is in any way hurting your hype, then you're upset about other people enjoying the game the 'wrong' way.

Edit: Sorry, I shouldn't even have responded though. No real point in talking tiers right now, and no need for these petty squabbles. Hope you're enjoying the streams as much as I am! And I have to concur with you, I'm really jealous of the JP 3DS people. D:

Nah, it's okay - looking back on it, I had a kneejerk overreaction to something that really shouldn't matter. :p We'll share in our hype and jealously together!

Please don't disregard the actual value that tier lists have (or at least are supposed to have) just because there's some "pr0 hurdcorz" players who think they've all got it figured out in 5 seconds.
Leisurely tossed out "tier lists" have as much value as a fart in a gust of wind. There's a lot of thought and work that goes into actual tier list creation.

Yeah, you're right and I'll try not to. I overreacted. It's not the existence of tier lists themselves that annoys me so much as how people rush so quickly to make them and act like they're the only thing that matters, but that doesn't affect me either way, and especially not right now! I agree with you in that real tier lists, developed over years of a developing metagame, are an interesting and important element.

it's real guys ;-;

Haha, Mega Man posing with my avatar! Love it!

What happened?

Wait, I shit you not, I was about to post about Mega Man, based on this stream, but my impressions were surprisingly positive. It sounds like you think they botched his character?

I think he just meant that it's incredible to see Mega Man in a game (let alone an incredibly high-profile one) these days, and it is! It never gets old. He's been known to be in this damn game for almost a year and a half now and it still feels just as amazing and special as it did the day he was announced. <3

Also really happy to see so many positive impressions of Mega Man. See, I KNEW he wasn't shit! My positive (though critical) impressions of him from E3/SDCC/PAX are being validated! For awhile there I thought I was going to be the only one trying to convince people he's just hard/awkward to learn and not shit. :p

Am I just a crotchety old man in that I don't like it when people are talking over these streams? It's not even just the commentary I find grating, it's the personalities.

Like, it's very hard for me to find one where I would just rather the person stop talking.

As hype as this demo is, watching these streams makes me realize that I just need this game in my hands. Watching other people play isn't very fun.

NoA pls

Yeah, I totally misread what Alberto wrote. I'm listening to the Xenoblade Chronicles OST and apparently it takes a toll on my reading comprehension, lol.

THIS GAME LOOKS SO GOOD!!

This is about 40 pages overdue, but if you look at the Ray newcomer post you'd see my quote stating that I feel both have an incredible amount of moveset potential.

I agree. I love Palutena, but her gimmick would've worked so much better with Ray MK II. I mean...custom moves...Custom Robo...kinda works out really well.

In my experience, the sort of people that stream themselves playing video games are the sort of people you'd generally prefer don't talk.

Absolutely false. Even in low level play, the difference between an S tier character and a C tier character is often palpable.

It depends greatly on the specifics of what makes the characters great.

Smash is a perfect example of this. Metaknight is clearly pretty fucking amazing and hard to kill in fights with inexperienced players because they'll figure out Tornado spam pretty quickly. They might have trouble finding good kill moves with him but eventually they'll work it out. Meanwhile Ice Climbers, who end up being eventually great in both Melee and Brawl are hard as fuck for new players to learn and they'll likely get stomped by middle of the road characters.

At low level play people don't know shit and ease of use/gimmicks reign supreme regardless of how good the characters actually are. The tools the characters have are hardly a factor when they aren't fully understood and when the system isn't either.

All of the ones I've found so far are really annoying.

Though in general I much prefer streams with commentary.

Dark Phoenix and Wolverine were S tier characters that dominated at all levels of play in vanilla MvC3. You are not correct.

This makes the wait all the more difficult! I'm really like what I'm seeing of the Villager. I really do hope we get a demo soon - today. Also, I'm still curious about the Wii U connectivity. That hasn't been talked about, right?
