Someone in the league office described the elevator tape to Chris Morntenson back in July. Funny that Rodger claimed in his interview yesterday that no one with the league had seen it until 2 days ago. Dan Patrick was going off about this saying Rodger needs to be fired for lying about it.
That assumes Mortenson is telling the truth.
Also in the video posted Mort never says his sources are league sources.

He described what happened on the tape including her hitting the railing on the way down, how could he know that unless he talked to someone that saw the tape? Also what possible reason did he have to lie about the league seeing the tape back in July?

His comments in the linked video never mention sources within the league. He says sources who have seen the video.

I guess that is possible, Peter King did definitively say that both the NFL and the Ravens saw the 2nd tape back in July:
There is one other thing I did not write or refer to, and that is the other videotape the NFL and some Ravens officials have seen, from the security camera inside the elevator at the time of the physical altercation between Rice and his fiancée.
The whole thing just seems crazy to me. The league fucked up bad, either by lying about seeing the tape, or by seeing it and then giving him only 2 games.
King recanted this on Monday or Tuesday though, saying he was wrong. Dunno if that's part of a cover up though.

This was simple incompetence, not a conspiracy. Both should cost Goodell his job.

Peter King is literally the NFL's writer. He's just cleaning up the mess that Roger told him to. He's also a shit writer.
The whole reason ESPN offered Schefter more money than NFLN was to get his sources. The NFL guys on ESPN are just terrible. Even the analysts on Countdown are a joke because of the marketing machine that ESPN becomes for the NFL(and NBA), and I love Ditka.

I guess I just don't think it matters, whether the NFL saw the video or not. At least, not for any other reason than having lied about it. Even if they had, their reasoning for not suspending Rice longer would be unchanged. Do I think they'd be naive enough to even know of the existence of such a video and not think it would eventually leak? Sure, why not, it's a bunch of rich old guys who are conditioned to believe the yes men they employ. Either way, they are fucked now, it's going to be impossible to prove they hadn't already seen it.
At the end of the day, it's the system's fault for not properly punishing Ray. He should have been immediately suspended for a year, sentenced to serve some months in jail and fined heavily. Along with entering a DV intervention program, he could have pulled a Vick with the dog thing and eventually become a positive force for the issue. Like that he and his wife would have a had a better chance of private reconciliation, and retained the possibility of an NFL career. The way this went down? It's all fucked for him, his wife/family, and obviously the league. No winners, only losers.
