Watch the streams going around. Yep it's hard and not in the way the strikes handle difficulty which is "hahaha bunch of enemies + bullet sponge boss". It's tough because you have to constantly play to the environment.

Nah, its just adds/boss, lul.

Look, I'm not saying this is the most inventive gameplay, but it is much much more than the current game. While we could argue that it should be even more than that, which I agree it should. I would like to see these types of mechanics in normal strikes and then progress from there.

They're completely new to this boss fight, and they mark you for death if you don't kill them. Once you're marked the boss will instakill you at a timed interval unless you're cleansed by the shield carrier.
Thanks for the reply. I never would've learned that, lol.

The 6 players must be friends requirement is bullshit.. Bungie needs to add general chat, and make Raids matchmaking. I don't see them being successful without real matchmaking.

I'm level 24, inches away from 25 (like one legendary piece away from 25 and half) which I should get today.

If you can't find them legendary pieces, purchase them.

I maxed out the Vanguard marks for week one. The plan today is purchase a legendary chest piece after getting to lvl 2 vanguard rep (500 pts away)

Technically, you can reach level 23-24 with normal blue armor with light attributes.

-Play further into the story. I'm not sure if drops are connected. But, once I advanced further. I went from 20, to 24 in under a day. I also went from no legendary drops, to 4.

-Play patrol, light armor randomly drops
-Strikers, I get at least 2 light based armors every Strike.
-Weekly challenges- again, you should get no less than 1 light based armor.. Last weeks heroic challenge gave "strange coins".. You can use those coins to purchase legendaries..
-Continue to do bounties, play Crucible.. Keep gaining XP, which turns into motes of light.

I'm 24 halfway to 25 with only blue items. The only purple thing I've looted so far in my +- 40hrs are some Titan exclusive gloves, and I'm a Hunter. At least I'm getting more and more motes of light.

The raid is called Vault of Glass and is only available to characters level 26 or higher. It also requires six players, and remember: all must be friends; there's no matchmaking for the raid.

LoL.
What year is this? Still 1999? Ok.

"configure your loadouts so you are powerful together in a variety of ways"
Come the heck on Bungie you are overstating shit again, your game doesn't have this amount of depth.
Everyone has the same weapons, armor stat variation is hardly noticeable and class specials is hardly enough to create specific roles.

Not sure what I expected from a FPS raid, but im kinda let down by it. Will keep watching to see how it plays out though.

Yeah me too... Dunno if boss + waves of mobs is what I like. Maybe bungie should have gone with much more distinct classes, right now the options seem limited.

Disappointment after disappointment after disappointment...you get the idea.

Definitely hope they do something.
Wait. The game is 1 week old and you guys want easy, guaranteed Legendary drops and Bungie is to blame because the RNG gods aren't smiling upon you all?

That's not how looting works.

Level 26 and has to be 6 friends together at the same time with no matchmaking.

So this is the mode we've been told is arriving to "save" Destiny and it's as prohibitive to play as it's possible to be at this point.

Fucking brilliant.

How in the fuck is it prohibitive to play?

Play the Nightfall without planning your gear with your fireteam to take on shielded enemies and take advantage of the bonus damage modifier and tell me it doesn't matter.

Yes but an MMO takes 100's of hours to reach the end game content normally, not 10's.

Simply not true, to name two recent examples I hit (and was fully geared for) the end game raid in FFXIV in about 40 hours and you could reach the endgame in Wildstar in a similar amount of time.

Or maybe add fucking text chat to the tower so I can actually find people rather than me having to go to an external website?

Watching the Twitch stream right now. Those guys must have been playing pretty much no stop since the game come out.

Not at all.You could be 24 in a weekend. Then to level up just grind rep for purple gear. Done.

This boss fight is going to take them ages. I watched for 10 minutes straight and his health dropped no more than 1/16. I can understand the communication aspect a lot better now. Still going to wait on news about additional content before considering making a purchase.

I'm not sure how I feel about this, having team co-ordinated raids is cool but it feels like with destiny that too much of the game is around it, I feel like in my copy I can't play what is classed as one of the better things in the game because of lack of friends online at one time who are the right level.

The game really needs the ability to create a lobby/room for these raids where only a limited level can enter (to stop low levels entering who would die instantly) very much like PSO and it's lobby making system.

I want to see a fireteam of six attempt the raid with 1 or 2 players hanging back and doing nothing, just to see how valid Bungie's claim that you'll need 6 effective players really is.

In Datto's stream one guy got DC'd and they wiped about 30 seconds later. Prior to that they were doing fairly well.

If you don't have 5 friends available to play the game at the same time then you can't play this.

I'm an adult with a full time job and various other commitments, as is everybody else on my friends list who I play games with. Fireteams are great for us because getting 2-3 of you on at the same time is usually OK. Getting 6 is a different story.

I'm all down for more Destiny content but it's disappointing that there's no matchmaking. Even if it's just to fill in the odd blank if you can get a team of 4-5 together but not the 6th player. For me personally this mode sounds like something I'll probably never get to play.

IF we are going with the whole, its an MMO then that is par for the course. Right?

that sounds a lot more interesting than "shoot the boss' head while constantly cleaning up adds, never standing still for the boss to hit you"
(yes, this describes the Nexus, Sepiks Prime, Phogoth, the Archon Priest, Ta'aurc ... the only different encounter are the Psion Flayers ...)

here's hoping the DLC will bring strikes that offer at least somewhat interesting encounters ...

all this talk about raid stuff makes me want to go play FFXIV again and actually enjoy leveling a character.

OT: Looks like I'll have to just strike farm the next couple of days, I cannot do the moon farming or anything else that requires me to sit in one spot and stare at a door, mow down enemies, die and repeat. At least running strikes I get to see different things....unless it chooses devils layer which ended up saturday being 7 times in a row.

I don't have loads of time to play so I won't be there for a while but I like it. It's hardcore for the truly hardcore, I actually commend Bungie for not just letting all these hard game modes be accessible to anyone and everyone. Reminds me of MMO days when you really had to play if you wanted to go in and defeat the hardest raid bosses.

EDIT: Post a couple above; "This isn't Halo". Bingo. I think people are/were expecting something you could just jump into and play/do any part of it no matter where you were at or something.

Destiny is no where near open world enough to be a MMO. However given how the voice chat is in the game and how Bungie does not trust the gamer base to be good enough to pug these things, I can't say I'm against them making it open. Better to meter people into it than to open the floodgates and be awash in the bitching of bad players.

I couldn't tell you as I have next to no experience with MMO's. And I think that environment is different anyway because the support for clans who do know and talk to each other in that sort of way is generally broader/more accepted.

Either way, it's disappointing, because I like the game and I want more of it. And it's great to see new modes arrive. I just wish I could play it. Personally for me, the limitation of needing 6 friends is prohibitive to accessing it.
