Nvidia GTX 980/970 3DMark Scores Leaked- from Videocardz.com

3 Gainward 980/970 models, with pics, plus prices:
Gainward has two GTX 970 models, the Phantom, which is factory-overclocked to 1152/1304 MHz (yes that’s boost clock of 1.3 GHz!), and reference-clocked at 1051/1178 MHz.

Gainward has also GTX 980 clocked at 1127/1216 MHz.

...

It’s worth noting that GTX 970 cards from Gainward have new display outputs configuration: DVI-I, HDMI 2.0 and 3 mini-DisplayPorts.

According to ComputerBase, GTX 980 will cost 600 EUR, while GTX 970 ‘only’ 400.

Asus has a Strix 970 available on launch.

GTX980 final specs:
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 Final Specifications
GeForce GTX 980 has 2048 CUDA cores, 128 TMUs and 64 ROPs. Card is equipped with 4GB GDDR5 memory and 256-bit interface. It has a bandwidth of GTX 770, which is 224 GB/s. By comparing it to Kepler parts, we notice that Maxwell-based graphics cards arrive with relatively higher clock speeds, GTX 980 has a base clock of 1126 MHz and boost clock of 1216 MHz.

The biggest news here is that GTX 980 has only a TDP of 165W. That’s amazing power reduction compared to 250W GK110.

Last but not least, I can now confirm that GeForce GTX 980 has HDMI 2.0 support. And if you somehow missed my previous news, GTX 980 has 5 display outputs: DVI-I, HDMI2.0 and three DisplayPorts 1.2 (not 1.3).

If the 64 ROP thing is true I hope some vendor equips the cards with faster GDDR5. Even with more cache it seems like they could be quite heavily BW limited.

It is and when you sell the Borderlands key you could probably get 20€ back. I usually don't pay more than 200-250 for graphics cards anymore but sooner or later need a replacement for my 660 and if the 970 is priced way above that anyway.... or wait for the 285x. Problem is that I need my cards to be REALLY quiet. On the other hand I could drive to Alternate now, check out how the Zotac fares and bring it back later this week if it's too loud.

I wouldn't buy the 285X, because it comes with only 2 GB VRAM (same amount that my 6950 has), but the R9 290 for €285 (heh) seems like a better deal, even if it's 50-60€ more expensive than the 285X.

I'm somewhat hoping that the new Nvidia cards force AMD to lower the price on the existing product line. Something like an official MSRP of 299 for the 290 would be great.

The 600 dollar comes from a random guess on 3dcenter.org apparently.

It is just an estimation for the price from 3dcenter as they don't provide any source for the prices.

So nothing is confirmed yet.

Ridiculous pricing, €400/600, get out of here.

This would just mean Nvidia did it. AGAIN. Sigh...
If so, I have no idea what I would recommend to my brother. He wants to play the witcher 3 at its highest cvar values with with 60fps and has a good amount of money to do so. But I feel reluctant to get him SLI (he is not super into tweaking if it comes to it) and one 980 will definitely not be enough for that (let alone the price... for what you are getting in performance).

Let's hope that price is not the real one for now gents (and ladies who may be here also).

Have to wait and see, but might end up pulling the trigger on this one.

Whatever I buy i'll be buying for Witcher 3, so hopefully by February there might be models with more GDDR5 or perhaps if I'm really lucky maybe even a Ti version or something with even more umph to it.

It'll be interesting to see some benchmarks when the time comes, especially 4K benchmarks.

I personally think $600 is a mistake, but considering it's Nvidia it does make sense.

good god @ that rumoured 980 price

i knew that i'd probably have to make a larger up-front investment to get the new hardware to ensure my build consumes as minimal power as possible, but i'm not sure i'm willing to pay for an 980 at that cost for such a negligible edge over the 780ti

Good point, since I use my cards for a while 2GB could and probably will turn out to not be enough. But the 290 draws too much power which leads to too much noise for my taste.

The non-reference 290s are pretty quiet, for example the windforce puts out less noise than stock 780Ti.

The tdp on these cards are really attractive from an SLI perspective.

Thats about the only positive I can find right now.

Thankfully I'm not that sensitive anymore, since I abandoned my water cooling setup (ironic, I think). The Powercolor 6950 with the Twin Cooler was so disappointing regarding the noise, that I kinda gave up on getting my setup silent again. However, the low power draw of the 970 looks really, really interesting.

I just ordered a new power supply ready for some SLI silliness. Oh boy. I think I'm going to go through with this... now if only my back ordered ROG Swift would ship.

real talk, if anyone is planning on selling their 780 TI for a 980, assuming the benchmarks pan out, PM a nigga

Can you say that? I really don't want to be mean and I apologize before hand, but can I ask for that word not to be used? Even with the gga and not gger is still offensive to a lot of people including myself.

On topic, I have a 770 and plan on going for the 980. I recently built my PC and committed buying a new card just for these. The Witcher 3 is going to make most PC's melt just downloading the game. I hope I can run with everything turned on the highest setting.

A 970 with Asus' Strix cooler could be perfect in that regard but the price would probably be above what I'm willing to pay.

I found a review with some custom 290s including the Windforce and they're all too loud imo.

No you can't, if a mod sees it you can be sure it'll result in a ban.

600 for a reference 980 is nuts, so I'm hoping that's bullshit. 450 would be fine.

I'm not really big on the idea of SLI, but I suppose if I need the extra power later next year I can try it out. The hassle makes it sound like it isn't worth it though.

What's with all the hostility in that website's comments for Asus cards? I've been using them for years with no problems, my matrix 580 has been heavily overclocked since the day I got it 3 years ago and is still going strong.

The rumours price is so disgusting, but that would still people don't mind to pay it.
Hope it isn't true but guess work.

lol $600 seems reasonable to me for a 980 ;( because I just know it will be $900+ here in Australia ._.

It gets even worse when you realize they weren't talking about dollar but euro.. 600 euro basically means about 900-1000 US dollars for those of us in eurolands. It's utterly ridiculous.

One source is 3dcenter.org, where they estimated the price (and didn't present it as a fact). Another source is a ComputerBase forum member, who cites prices from a distributor.

GTX970 4GB Gainward GDDR5 DVI/HDMI/3xDP 329,50€ zzgl. MwSt
GTX970 4GB Gainward Phantom GDDR5 DVI/HDMI/3xDP 339,50€ zzgl. MwSt
GTX980 4GB Gainward Phantom GDDR5 DVI/HDMI/3xDP 499,90€ zzgl. MwSt

"zzgl. MwSt" means "+ VAT".

That would translate to 399 for the GTX 970 and 599 for the GTX 980.

And is just a guess, by the sounds of it.

Wouldn't get all worked up yet. We've also heard rumors of $450 and $500.

Nah, € = $ in this biz. Or € is even more due to higher taxes.

holy crap that's expensive :/ hope it's a very speculative price then.

Look like my number is a bit inflated, I meant 800 usd.

I think I did a mistake, 600 euro is about 800 usd in Norway.

That is true.

I guess I'll have to wait until next summer to upgrade then.
I'm not paying more than 350/370€ on a 970 Windforce3... Here's hoping I won't have to wait until the 1000 series launch to find one at that price. :lol

Honestly $600 seems attractive when that's below 780ti,and this is a better card.
Its slightly preferable to a 780Ti, sure, but it still leaves AMD with the better bang-for-buck and I'd be amazed if they really let AMD have that. Its not gonna win many people over that are on-the-fence.

It would also mean I'd be waiting til next year, when we'd hopefully see something a bit more substantial and exciting.

for $600 bucks, (and you KNOW AMD is going to have a price cut on the 290X to counter) i can see myself just buying the 290X...... or hell getting a 290 for like $350 and overclocking it

I agree. I feel like this card could reach legendary value status at $450-500 USD. That would be extremely attractive. You're getting 780ti power and then some, drastically less wattage/heat, and a little extra memory for less money.

AMD wouldn't even need to price cut. It would be entirely competitive with Nvidia still.

Which is why I'm struggling to believe it'll be that expensive.

I don't know about 'legendary', but it would definitely be an attractive offer.
