For some reason, I'm seriously addicted to Terra Battle....more (much more) than any free to play game I ever tried.

Loving the combat mechanics.
So far (level 12) the energy is negligible and I never used the thunders (resurrect).

I still have to find a new job tough, despite having various objects already.

So, so fun and simple :3

It's superb, fun, cheap and completely free of IAPs. It's probably one of my favorite puzzle games on iOS now :3

Downloaded the App Store free game of the week, Bicolor, and, while an interesting idea with a clean presentation, the game is stupid easy. I've done 20+ puzzles and the secret to beating each puzzle is so obvious once you figure out what not to do (it'll become clear to you very early). The game just has no challenge to it, what so ever. I'd avoid it.

Don't dismiss 1Button though. Their games ON/OFF, SEQ, POPTILE, and PILE are all excellent minimalist puzzle games. ON/OFF gets incredibly hard if you're looking for a challenge

After getting burned out on the Tiny Tower formula after Tiny Death Star, I'm happy to say it's back in full force with TT Vegas. It doesn't really bother me that the casino games are limited in variety and depth, that there's now a third currency, or that progress feels a little slower than the original TT. I like that you can freely move floors, and coins, bux, and chips blasting from elevators and big wins feels so good.

By the way, my tower ID is 2C87 if you want to add me.

Goddamn it, I did NOT need another game to get addicted to. I'm never gonna get anything done now! ;)
Great find!

Anyone playing Terra Battle?
I've got this in my queue, I intend to give this a go when I've seen every single city in 80 Days.

Coming as an IAP level pack later this year

HYPE.

Phantom Rift is a fun dungeon crawler with a very fresh and engaging battle system (for someone who never played that Megaman game).

What happened? It went freemium?

No cloudsaves. Delete and your progress is gone.

Yep. I've 100% 'ed the game and now I'm stuck waiting for the new level pack to land who-knows-when, taking up almost 1GB of precious space

So not specifically game related, but what browser do iPad users recommend? Not a fan of safari, and dolphin crashes a lot too.

I use iCab Mobile (8.3).
It's the only browser to offer the same customization and experience as a desktop browser, at least in my experience.

IFunbox it.

I wish iCloud Drive would solve these issues in 8 but not yet. Maybe iOS 9.. At least Apple is going in the direction of a Dropbox type cloud storage now, but it's not tied into game saves. :(

For those unaware, https://beta.icloud.com/
Doesn't work in iOS yet, and supposedly there's a native app coming as well.

Anyone in Terra Battle is at chapter 4, the tower?
Game becomes almost a rogue like...just defeated Gallus...wow.

I can only imagine what they could achieve with a premium title...so far the fremium didn't bother me at all, but I already know that sooner or later....

BUT...if anyone si playing...I have a question.
I'm almost at level 15, chapter 4...well into the story (which seems pretty cool)....BUT I still have to find an object that let me ADD JOBS to my primary character, despite having TONS and TONS of items.
What am I doing wrong?
I even entered the 'puddle' arena to grind for objects....obtained a TON with a single game but still it tells me I miss the Terra-something to add/change job.

I have great hopes about this.

Well....I had great hopes before you destroyed them :P

I hope devs can select to save there and we can manage the data.

Is iOS8 supposed to hit tonight right?

17th I think. Been on it since last week. Everything's worked fine for me, apart from Twitter, it keeps notifying me of retweets for people I follow if two or more retweet a tweet, heh.

Overall 8>>>>>>>7.

iOS 8.1 NEEDS a way to easily back up just app data/game saves/etc. This whole all data management suckage has gone on too long.

I will be really happy if iOS 8.1 could let me uninstall the apple stock apps like Health, Passbook, iBooks, PaperStand, Facetime, Podcass, Stocks, Notes, Tips,. and so on, really really happy.

That one too. There should be an option on iTunes PC to do this...

Looking forward to the public release tomorrow, to be able to see the store again -and with a fresh look?- and all that. :)

EDIT: Forgot about iOS 8 Bundles!!

I appreciate that i got Hitman Go for free (thanks IGN!) but goddammit, if you're going to make a game universal you need to have cloud support, too. I was playing H:Go on my iphone 5, wanted to continue my session on my ipad but nope, it doesn't transfer my save info. Now i have to rush and finish H:Go on my phone because im trading it in for a 6+ grumblegrumble

Use iFunbox to move the save across devices.

Bought Godfire for $1 today, but the game is kind of terrible. Bland, rote and uninspired gameplay and the graphics aren't even that good because the art direction is all over the place.

It made me crave for a God of War though. Or any half decent 3D hack and slash/beat and up, a genre sorely lacking on the AppStore. I mean the best option is probably Spider Man Total Mayhem which is like 4 years old.

edit: actually Wild Blood was kind of fun too. Nothing to write home about, but certainly better than Godfire.

There are 3 weekly events (Pudding, Puppet and Tin Man), and they all give different type of items.

Material Events are closed on Mondays, and on Fridays they rotate randomly per hour.
There's also a second tier zone that opens up after Chapter 8 or 9 (harder, but rarer materials pop more often).

Weekends are Coin Creep for easy gold.

Omg. I just won an iPad mini (2nd gen, non-retina) in a contest and I LOVE the form factor. If the screen was up to par I'd be in loooooove.

Planning to buy an iPhone6+ this Friday, what is the most beautiful iOS game to play on that 5.5" 1080p screen?

Already played on iPad Air/iPhone 5: Monument Valley, Rayman, Sky Force, Infinity Blade RR3/Asphalt8, Republique, Deus Ex, AC: Pirates

Are there some stunning games under development to be hyped for?

Probably have to wait to see what games are optimized for that res this week in updates.

That Epic game, the garden thing that they demoed. It's releasing with the 6 afaik.

Thanks!!!!
I just completed chapter 4...woah.
The game feels almost like a single player RPG more than a online freemium money grabber.

Vainglory is the game demoed during the keynote, but it's not made by Epic and it will be release in October with no fixed date announced.
But yeah it looks cool https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0FxQ9E2w8E4

No I meant Zen Garden: https://www.unrealengine.com/blog/ue4-zen-garden-using-metal-api-for-ios-8-revealed-at-wwdc

Also, if you backup with iTunes, doesn't saves also get backed up?

Yes and no, your saves are only backed up in a backup if you keep the game installed, as the backup actually backs up installed apps so-to-speak. If you uninstall the game, it'll get removed from the next backup you do.

Bought 999: The Novel for iPhone , since i don't have a Nintendo Handheld to play it.

I wanted to get into the story before i play VLR on the Vita.

Shame that it's not a universal App for iPad too, would have liked the option to play it on my retina iPad mini, but since i don't get to use the iPad that much i was not worth it to pay twice for it...

Going to play it on my 5s till my 6 arrives :D

Thanks for the clarification. Should be okay for the guy who's trading in his iPhone for the new one then.

I guess "Wednesday = big releases" is over. We get quality releases throughout the week now

Did I miss anything this week besides Goat Simulator? Are you referring to Shades? Been very busy working

I think they released it today, *maybe* because of tomorrow iOS 8 release. Just a thought. Who knows but its the only explanation I can find.

The description of Goat Simulator is just lovely:

Goat Simulator is the latest in goat simulation technology, bringing next-gen goat simulation to YOU. You no longer have to fantasize about being a goat, your mobile dreams have finally come true!

Gameplay-wise, Goat Simulator is all about causing as much destruction as you possibly can as a goat. It has been compared to an old-school skating game, except instead of being a skater, you're a goat, and instead of doing tricks, you wreck stuff. more! When it comes to goats, not even the sky is the limit, as you can probably just bug through it and crash the game.

DISCLAIMER
Goat Simulator is a completely stupid game and, to be honest, you should probably spend your money on something else, such as a hula hoop, a pile of bricks, or maybe pool your money together with your friends and buy a real goat.

Just overall. Lately, great games have been releasing Monday, Tuesday, Friday, etc. PC ports like Chronology and Goat Sim

Oh if you think that description is funny, you need to check out the changelogs. You can tell the devs had an absolute blast making the game

I noticed Gridlee doesn't show up in my iTunes account anymore, but I still managed to transfer the purchase over from my iPad Air. Thank god, I really wanted to see Rad Mobile run on my iPhone6Plus!

For people asking: I don't have device specifics on Metal, but I just know MC5 and A8 will be getting updates for Metal.

(Modern Combat, Asphalt are the games he's referring to)

Looking forward to some nice graphical updates.

Here are my impressions of Goat Simulator (PC):
So Goat Simulator really exists. According to IGN comments and Steam discussions (clearly the most reputable opinions on the Internet), the game is an obvious sign of the PC gaming apocalypse, a mindless lowest-denominator bug-riddled mess for the causal gamers who listen to Let's Play channels like sheep. Ignore the naysayers. Yes, Goat Sim is mindless, and it's bug riddled, but it's also stupid silly fun and what's wrong with that?

Any impressions of Goat Simulator would be lacking without acknowledging the game's origin. What started as a fun little jam experiment for Coffee Stain interns went viral and somehow become a real released game. I think that sense of fun and just doing it for the love of making games rather than trying to develop a serious actual experience just permeates all aspects of Goat Simulator. You can tell the developers had an absolute blast making the game and guess what, it's stupid and silly but so much fun. Even though the map is small, it's packed with cool little secrets and things to discover and the glitchy ragdoll physics never get old. Perhaps more than any game I've played since Just Cause 2, this is a true sandbox. Sure there are missions to complete, but the real fun is just equipping some of the crazy mutators and trying to accomplish some emergent goal and failing hilariously in the process.

Goat Simulator certainly won't appeal to everyone. Some will dismiss it at a glance, or even say it's not a "real game." But it is. If you see Goat Simulator somewhere on my GOTY list in December, it's no joke. This is a genuinely fun, funny game that revels in its stupidity and craziness and silly mindless fun, and that makes it an experience worth playing.

you'd hope so. asphalt 8 still chugs on my ipad retina mini.

I was actually confused after reading an article on "bundles" that will be available with iOS 8. So are the only bundles going to be by devs with their own apps? Or will there be any way for charities like Humble Bundle to utilize it?

Just curious with the success of Android bundles and charities.

I'd be rather surprised if Apple didn't end up doing promo bundles themselves.
