the problem with demo is that it can always backfire.

Some people who were thinking of buying it just because it's FF might try demo and dislike the new combat system and not buy the game..


well I hope the demo is long. FFXIII demo in FFVIIACC was a bit shorter than I expected.

It's really not easy to get a demo right, especially for RPG. I have a blast with KHDD demo and it was short. Longer demo isn't necessarily always better though. Bravely Default was long, but the demo wasn't very impressive to me.

Square Enix is calling the demo Episode Duscae, and though it focuses on the early parts of the game, some elements of the progression have been altered in order to make it more suitable for a demo experience.

Probably adjust your level so you have access to warping, and other abilities. Perhaps adjust how the demo ends, with a mini boss fight like Behemoth.

You probably can use abilities you don't have in the early game. You might encounter enemies that you normally wouldn't see until later. You might get items that you normally get later.

This will be Square Enix big showcase, and if you think one or two steps further you can conclude what will happen tomorrow.

The size of the map,the progression system(crystarium sphere grid) maybe capped limited or inaccessible,enemy and character damage altered,You maynot be able to have full access to all weapons and abilities that you would otherwise have at that point in the full game etc

Well, close off a lot of areas in what is supposed to be a fairly open world, for one. Probably an early cap on experience.

To be honest, the last two mainline FF demos (XIII and XII) were not very substantial at all.

Not to be a bitch, but we haven't actually seen anything of FF15. We don't even really know what the world map will look like to run around in. We saw a screenshot of Noctis standing in a grassy area but that's about it. We know nothing :O

Nomura said in interviews after E3 last year that they were considering some sort of episodic release so that fans don't have to wait forever. Which is why my ears immediately perked up when I heard this "Episode Duscae" trademark months ago.

Whether that's actually what they're doing here remains to be seen.
