Final Fantasy XV TGS 2014 Trailer | Lord Nomura giveth us His only Son so we may live

TABATA YOU BEAUTIFUL SON OF A GUN!!!!

Kidding aside, he's been with the project long enough to warrant some credit! :P
But seriously though... I've been dreaming of a game like this since FF7!
The PS2 never delivered the openness of the previous FF's due to (I'm assuming) technical limitations and budget.
And they skipped an entire generation for this (I'm pretending FFXIII and the sequel's it spawned never existed).
IT LOOKS AMAZING THOUGH!!
HASHIMOTO - I'M EXCITED!!

Oh wow, xenoblade chronicles x eat your heart out.

Not really... characters look great but how limited is the player going to be by that road? We know Xenoblade is going to have a bigass world you can run around in. We don't know how Square intends on using this road to allow the player to progress.

As someone who's been looking forward to FFXV since it was announced as Versus XIII, I wasn't really impressed by the trailer.

It kinda just looked like a group of guys driving down a semi-rural highway the entire time, making a few pit stops along the way to see the view and kill some baddies wandering the wildlands, not really doing much of anything.

The only thing I can say I really liked was how pretty it looked, but that's about it. The idea of wandering around massive, wild landscapes while killing the monsters that spawn occasionally has never appealed to me though.

And honestly, the "In Development" at the end kind of felt like an irritable tease at this point.

I was more excited after the E3 2013 trailer, which showcased more plot and locations with things actually in them. I'm going to (hopefully) assume this trailer was to just show off that the game still exists, is (very slowly) making progress, is looking pretty good, and will have more than modern environments, I guess, although you don't need to showcase generic looking fields and caves to prove there are underdeveloped or non-modernized areas. I suppose it did serve those purposes; I guess after all this time without anything new I just found it to be a bit boring.

The characters and their vehicle contrasted oddly with the environments they were exploring, although that could've been done purposely. I take it the whole rural "road trip" scenario will make more sense once you've experienced the game and see how it reaches that point.

I'm still really looking forward to this game, eventually. I do like how vast the trailer seems to imply the world will be, I just hope I'm not spending a good chunk of the game driving down aesthetically pleasing but empty environments. I have pretty good faith they'll be able to tie it all into the story and gameplay in a way that is enjoyable. The whole trailer was really laid back; it didn't get me hyped or blow me away or anything like the E3 2013 one did but it was nice to finally get an update and see that the game's still coming along.

Thanks Blim.
It looks so fucking good. That last one.. Hnngggg

Looks good overall. But I think it looks laughably out of place that you're driving around a normal-ass car with a normal-ass license plate. It's a fantasy world, you can make cool shit if you want.

Did I mis-hear it or does he say 'sorry' in between it's been a long time, and 'almost there'?

Either way I haven't been hyped for a FF game in ages

On Luna:
The guy who worriedly says "Is she safe?" is not Noctis, but the other guy voiced by Mamoru Miyano. The himecut girl? Perhaps.
So no, I don't think Stella is Luna?

"Astral shard" (which totes reminded me of Dalamud Talons from FF14 by the way) is called "the meteor from the age of myths" in Japanese.

Dat Stella shot.
Dat score.

I cannot lie, I cried.
If Luna's a different character, maybe it's that dark haired girl shown in last years's E3 trailer's finale.

That is jaw dropping. She looks amazing

I agree.

On the whole the trailer really impressed me. More down-to-Earth than I expected from SE. The car thing is a little weird to me (reminded me of GTA :lol) but the game looks wonderful.

edit: and I just remembered I still have my $40 preorder from E3 2013. Can't wait to play it.

Pulse did in FFXIII

XIII did.

Final Fantasy XIII and even FFX have gigantic creatures you fight. X when you get into Zanarkand and beyond. XIII on Pulse. It's not really a Xenoblade influence.

FF13 already had giant creatures on the field that you fight

Right, I completely forgot about Pulse in FFXIII. I must have erased that game from my mind lol

I'm comparing the Type-0 and XV trailers. Type-0 has a gratuitous amount of good motion blur. That plus the 'WIP' disclaimer at the start gives me high hopes that it's at least in some ways a testbed for what's possible for XV going forward. The action is going to benefit a lot from at least some blur, especially if things get faster paced a-la E3 2013 trailer.

Nice FFV nod! Same exact design too!

At first I didn't know what they were, but pausing the video when one walked near, they are old school FF Goblins(and I mean OLD SCHOOL):

This really is a modern take on a classic FF world.

Awesome. Before I was ambivalent about Chocobos but now I can't wait to see them.

Please let there be Moogles in this game!

Surprised that the response to this is so positive. Combat doesn't look like much fun, graphics were less impressive than the previous teaser, and for a game that's been in development for forever, it just felt like they should have more to show for themselves at this point.

Maybe people are just pleased that it looks like it might be taking some ideas from Xenoblade? But then again, we're already getting a Xenoblade sequel and I have much more confidence that it will A) come out soon and B) be really good.

The trailer was supposed to give a look at the areas you'll explore in the demo version. Wish it had more cutscenes in it to show the story and some of those new characters, but guess that'll have to wait till Jump Festa.

its been confirmed countless times that the world is open for exploration. one of the main indications was that at some point they were having issues programming the airships.

It looks silly.

It's a bunch of modern Japanese fashion models riding around in a luxury car while a fantasy video game plays around them. No effort has been made to design it like a believable, coherent world, it's just a bunch of stuff they think looks cool/will sell thrown together.

FF as been that way for years just look at FFVII and FFVIII .
The gfx being better along with seeing enemies just makes it easier to see .

Welcome to Final Fantasy?

They've always had fashionable characters in fantasy worlds. None of the FF games have ever been believable. I'm glad the world in XV isn't just one whole giant city which fits the character designs more. Just a city theme would get incredibly boring. Gameplay-wise, it's looking to be more fun with giant creatures in open landscapes and cave exploration.

Holy shit, the scale of the world was not something I was expecting. You can see areas wayyyy off in the distance in some shots, and then in another shot you actually see them at that location :O

Someone above said the were not impressed. ...I think they might be on some type of drug because that looked pretty Dam amazing. I skipped ff 13 and I'm looking very forward for this game.
