Final Fantasy XV TGS 2014 Trailer | Lord Nomura giveth us His only Son so we may live

Isn't it a bit worrying that there's no English voice acting or even a release year window for FFXV while they're releasing a demo in 6 months time already?

I remember there was a lady who went to an event of some sort and saw a private promotional video for FFXV, which was in English VA. Either we still have some more material on XV coming later or it was all a lie.

Can some make a gif of the first part of the trailer with adamantoise?

People say the car is floaty but you can clearly see the wheels bumping and forth against the rough surface of the ground like a real car would.

It looks hella nice.

Female audience will absolutely love this.

Even men will. It looks like it really is going for that brohood angle and I love it. Sort of like Stand By Me, with a bunch of guy pals doing guy things.

I forget to mention, some parts of the trailer are just too dark. I hope there's some lamps to carry around when night falls...

Still want to know how the sword teleportation works. Noctis can transport himself to places very far away.

I've never played a FF game. Can I jump into this one or do I need to play previous games?

Nope you can jump in. Mainline FF games all have their own story.

It's funny, but I actually just noticed that it'll be weird to here any kind of English voices in this. I might prefer Japanese simply because the characters all actually look Japanese. It would be like dubbing a live action Japanese movie, it'd feel off. Do FF games have dual audio?

other than lightning returns, they never did to my knowledge.

Every game is a standalone, the only thing this game shares is the Mythos (Fabula Nova Crystalis, if I'm spelling that correctly) with XIII and Type - 0.

This game is now its own closed story separate to the FNC series hence the change from FFXIII-Versus to FFXV

Yeah I realize it's a separate story but did they really detach it from the FNC mythology? I mean the goddess Etro is still on the logo of the game.

Yeah because promises and pictures are the same as fully finished game
Two developers can work on something that ends up being similar without getting any influence from each other. And something like Pulse from FFXIII already looks a lot like this with beasts of different size moving about, but this will be a game filled with bigger areas like this and not just be one bigger area like FFXIII with Pulse.

Wow SE finally decided to show some actual new footage of this game?? I'll be damned. They must be sick or something.

Honestly i really don't know what to feel about this game at this point. Can't say that this trailer impressed me much but at least i still like the overall concept.

It's been so long since i played a good FF game (XII) so i really hope it turns out at least decent when it finally gets released. :/

I'm not sure how to feel about this trailer, looks like JPop boy band dropped in Xenoblade X with very slow KH combat.

Graphics look amazing with the exception of some bad aliasing in some parts.

I understand the complaints about the character designs, it's by far the worst of any mainline FF. I loved all FF character designs, even the "wacky" ones like IX and X. They always looked like they belonged in their respective game world and fit the general art direction of the game, these look out of place in the game.

They really look like a JPop or KPop boy band dropped in a different universe, Noctis is by far the worst and he's the main character unfortunately. The blonde guy is the only one I like. The girl looks creepy, too much Anime eye going on in an otherwise realistic character model.

Comparing it to FFXIII, which is the only FF game I've played, I think the characters are fine. FFXIII had the J-pop dance troop thing and anorexic animie women. The games are made for JPN teenage boys, and I guess that is the kind of women they find hot and the type of dudes they think are cool. At least XIII had Sazh.

I can't say as I understand the hype though, the game looks kinda terrible. Dumbass story and and slow arpg combat.

I think the main reason I enjoyed FFXIII is because I wasn't hyped, I expected hot garbage, and it was $5 when I bought it in Jan 2014. That and the sublime music, kinda hated the music in this trailer.

I loved the starry sky here.

It also seems like enemies might be dropping in from Airships? Can we drive Airships or are they have taken out this feature? (if it was ever in)

The flying birds in the sky caught my eye.

The only scene that screamed Xenoblade to me was this one here. Otherwise both games aren't exactly comparable.

Absolutely gorgeous to behold. People who claim that this looks like a HD remaster of ps3 game are delusional to an extent.

Moving on, FFXIII was also gorgeous to behold but that didn't stop it from being a mediocre game overall; for the sake of the franchise, I hope this one has the substance to back its style.

Must be in the boot of the car.

Makes me wonder what will happen when you get more than 4 characters and have to choose members to make up a party. Have the extra members go into the boot? :P Say they're taking another car?

Lets hope it's not a Destiny all over again, driving around in your car doing missions. Looks promising tho!

I wonder if you'll get to level and gear grind your car? I think I'll go for a fuel-efficiency build.

And they really should be wearing seat belts.

That is jaw dropping. She looks amazing

I wonder whats happening in this scene. I wonder how much has changed in the story.

I mean it seems in this trailer Noctis is trying to meet Luna (which I am assuming is Stella) and what seems to be a long journey. I thought the Versus scene where the two meet at the ball (?) was something that happened early on in the game.

I'm happy with her new design too. Crazy how good she looks and apparently its not CGI.

Urgh my mistake was praying they detached themselves from FFXIII and rewrote the story, Oh well at least its actually coming out

They meet for the first time at that party, so presumably it is the start, and then we jump ahead after a ceasefire was reached, and it's broken while the guys are off travelling.

Trailer looked amazing to me. Really love the music during it.

I hope we get to see the typical fantasy and mysterious elements that previous Final Fantasy titles have come to be known by.

Yeah, but the reasons why FFXIII is considered mediocre have mostly to do with the linear nature & lack of varied content in the game (+ story with plenty of weaknesses), which should not be a problem with FFXV, which has these massive open areas you can traverse through and plenty of caves/dungeons you can find and look into for some extra shit, and maybe some other kind of side quests we've yet to see. The quality of the story is of course still to be seen and how well the combat works and how much & what quality content there is overall, but at least from everything we've seen so far, it seems to go for a more grounded story than the Lightning the Saviour & time travel shenanigans in the XIII trilogy, so it could be at least somewhat enjoyable even if the quality of dialogue etc. isn't much above XIII. The combat should be at least somewhat adequate and the world isn't just a pipe you run through either.

What I'm saying is that FFXV seems to be avoiding pretty much everything that pulled FFXIII down as an experience, even if the actual fun factor of the combat, how interesting & well done the story is and quality of content can't of course be judged at this point (other than it looks extremely promising)
