Final Fantasy XV TGS 2014 Trailer | Lord Nomura giveth us His only Son so we may live

No GIFs, only WebMs now.

As for the people thinking the combat is slow paced.

Noctis is fast, his other buddy with the huge sword is rather slow.

Again, he also doesn't appear to have his teleport meter for whatever reason in this trailer (and presumably the demo?). That mechanic alone changes the pacing so much.

From old to new :)

It looks gorgeous but the gameplay looks kinda clunky and slow to me.

I dunno, I guess I kind of expected Kingdom Hearts' more faster and hectic combat, as well as the well designed environments. This looks kind of empty and lifeless in comparison.

I think if you start to consider elements like magic, summons and special abilities (Noctis's Linkform/teleportation) in combat then it really shouldn't be super fast like some people want it to be. Maybe we'll find out in the demo.

IN DEVELOPMENT HELL.

What they showed looked good though. I still prefer to consider it vaporware.
The car idea is cool but they could have come up with a more original design!

There are barren wastelands and then there are place full of monsters. We will see both of them on this journey of bromance.

It brings to mind the classic "see that mountain over there? You can go there." line. Except in this case my answer would be "I'm not sure I want to. It looks boring."

Maybe they were just randomly slaughtering FF style cows in that scene, sort of the Japanese equivalent of cow tipping? No need for speed for that.

Two developers can work on something that ends up being similar without getting any influence from each other.

Xenoblade did not take inspiration from Versus in anyway because Versus was not even a game at that point so if anyone is taking influence from someone it's XV from Xenoblade not the other way around. Besides that Xenoblade took a lot from XII and MMO's in general.

Holy shit that background looks bad, the ground texture isn't even the same green as the actual grass. The rocks need a lot of work too.
The game has plenty of time for polish though.

The rocks look plain, but the grass looks intentional. It's beeing grazed by the rhino looking things that look like rocks themselves.

They've obviously just turned the HUD mostly off, apart from the health meters, possibly because the HUD isn't completely finalized yet and/or to hide whatever more or less secret features the gameplay has they don't want to discuss yet. That is, if they had a command menu with "Summons" in it, people would of course start asking questions about those summons and they probably would have to say some lame thing like "we are not yet discussing Summons in FFXV, next question".

Personally I couldn't give two shits about how the rocks or the grass look.
FFXIII taught me that a pretty game doesn't mean it's a good game.
Just give me FFXV! Let me play the damn thing, pretty rocks or not.

The environment looks barren as hell in that second clip. I really hope this delivers (and at this point, deliver = not a crushing disappointment).
They are in the middle of nowhere in the desert/forest. What is there supposed to be other than what you'd find in the nature.

Resolution aside, i think it looks incredible.
I especially love the art direction and the realistic color palette.

I'm starting to think the footage shown in each trailer represents the entirety of what's been completed in the intervening months since the last trailer.

I haven't seen the trailer and I'm at work at the momment...so could someone please tell me if the trailer showed any evidence that flyable airships / an explorable world map is still in the game.

Thanks.

My first reaction was basically "This looks like it's inspired by Xenoblade". Showed it to a friend and he said it instantly without me asking.

Not like it's a bad thing...

Comparing it to FFXIII, which is the only FF game I've played, I think the characters are fine. FFXIII had the J-pop dance troop thing and anorexic animie women. The games are made for JPN teenage boys, and I guess that is the kind of women they find hot and the type of dudes they think are cool. At least XIII had Sazh.

I can't say as I understand the hype though, the game looks kinda terrible. Dumbass story and and slow arpg combat.

I think the main reason I enjoyed FFXIII is because I wasn't hyped, I expected hot garbage, and it was $5 when I bought it in Jan 2014. That and the sublime music, kinda hated the music in this trailer.

Well, you played the worst and most atypical of the FF games. Looking "fine" compared to that is not that much of an accomplishment lol. The Jpop stuff really isn't in the games before XIII (excluding X-2), it's a shame the series went in a more juvenile direction. I don't really understand the hype either and I used to be a huge FF fan. This game has been in development (hell?) forever, changed directors and Square Enix doesn't exactly have the best track record in recent years, especially with Final Fantasy.

I hope this game won't be a hot mess because looking at that trailer it doesn't really have its own identity, I see more Xenoblade and Kingdom Heart inspiration than a Final Fantasy game.

Yay new FF trailer. I'm happy. ^_^

"It's been a long time coming..."

"Almost there"

Hohoho. Oh Square you sure know how to troll me. ^_^

Well cows aren't the only thing being combated in that trailer. The combat in general looks a bit too slow to my tastes. The cow part looks like it's scripted anyways so that doesn't really concern me.

There is a ship in the sky above where the player is fighting enemies on the field. (An enemy ship, presumably) which may indicate airships are still in. The footage is taken from the demo though so probably the player wouldn't have access to an airship this early on.
The whole trailer is gameplay of the player traversing fields/caves/driving a car so yes, there is lots of exploration. It's not traditional 'world map' though, think more like FFXII but not cut into loads of zones.

Man this game looks great. Prompto seems a bit too excitable though. I just hope he's not gonna be a male version of Vanille.

But damn, those graphics. When that Adamontoise showed up my jaw just about hit the floor. The whole 'boys on a road-trip' thing really seems like it will be fun. They really should have at least one or two girls join the party at some point though.

At this point all I need is a release date and then I can hop back on the Hype-train.

Why? To be PC?
