Final Fantasy XV TGS 2014 Trailer | Lord Nomura giveth us His only Son so we may live

that and I love roaming twilight town as Roxas(and doing the silly quests). It made the opening of KH2 so striking and the character of Roxas really memorable.

Kid Nocto please ;_;

I imagine it would put many people off, so I hope they don't do that. I see people complaint about the pace of KH2 beginning and the child arc of Tales of Graces often. Maybe during a quick flashback or short dream sequence, but nothing more.

Then if it really is critically acclaimed, wouldn't you want to make a sequel for a critically acclaimed game? People are gonna eat that up.
FFXV-2 is practically inevitable for better or worse.

Not if the whole point is to reel in cash in order to resolve a story that the first game should have ended at anyway!

Of course it is. I'm expecting a whole trilogy. Square-Enix knows people will buy them.

but...but...the brand is damaged!

Final Fantasy and Square Enix had reached a level of quality and critical reception that only the likes of Nintendo and modern day Naughty Dog have acheived. They went from THAT to more or less a glorified joke in terms of modern efficiency in game development.

What I gathered from that trailer was a bunch of good looking dudes driving around on a car killing soldiers and monsters with guns and swords.

FF15 might be the greatest video game roadtrip ever.

Feels good, doesn't it?

Not to me.

I think KH2's beginning is excellent.Idk about Tales of Graces.

What, I love Nomura. I'm just pointing out that whatever Nomura said about the game and what he would like to do for the future of the "XV" series is no longer watertight. :P

I'm interested in the sleep concept the game has going:

- Insomnia written in various places,
- Somnus track,
- "Figure that still lies asleep in the fantasy",
- Logo shows a woman asleep,
- Noctis is always sleepy ?!

Yeah, Nomura loves his sleep theme. In Kingdom Hearts as well.

Wouldn't his vision still carry through as technically his role could be considered as Chief Creative Officer?

For the original at this point it's probably too far along to change much other then maybe shrink the scope a little. But anything he had planned following is probably no longer valid.

I'm okay with FFXV sequels, as long as they're coherent with the original, decided from the beginning (unlike XIII-2 and LR which were conceivec just after FFXIII just as quick cash in), and, of course, as long as other titles (KHIII, DQXI, XVI etc.) keep being developed.

So the themes are:

- Bro-trips
- Romeo and Juliet
- Shibuya look
- Sleeping

well they can certainly do a good job if they do it right.

My recent experience of child gameplay was from Tales of Graces F and I hated that part.

I would not want to see a kid Noctics. Nope, not at all.

Didn't they already make him look younger in this new trailer?

He used to look so much older in that first trailer. Man that first trailer even made me hyped back then.

doesn't everyone? at least toriyama makes things that materialize, even if it's just lightning for the third time in a row

No. Nomura gets way too much hate really. Dude is one of the busiest slave worker of Square Enix based on his involvement in so many things.

I'd agree with that. He's involved with every Kingdom Hearts project and was/is XV.

I just can't stand some of his character designs though.. especially XIII's.

VII had some great characters designed by him, so did VI, but XIII... ugh.

I dunno but Nomura directed better games than Toriyama (and probably even Tabata).

He seemed rather ignorant as well. Didn't even know that the "thing on fire" was an astral shard. :/

Well honestly bro, I didn't know what it was either until they said it was a "astral shard"!

I hope Nomura wasn't planning on using the spoiled prince that lives in the castle all day trope. It doesn't look like it, but who knows...

He was barely involved in the character design for XIII.

He's only directed the Kingdom Hearts games, whilst Tabata actually has previous experience directing Final Fantasy games.

I think Kitase, Hashimoto, or someone else who still works at Square-Enix with previous main series Final Fantasy directing / producing experience should have done XV, but that's just me.

Man, is Hiroyuki Ito even still at Square-Enix? I remember Hashimoto saying that he was planning a new project in 2013, but we haven't heard anything new since then.

Nomura likely didn't intend to stick around with FFXV's sequels no matter what happened. Around when FFVsXIII was announced, Nomura implied that it would be his first & last (mainline level) FF he would direct and that he would return to his own creation, the KH series, full-time and possible other things after it was released.

I originally thought Tabata was brought in to not only help Nomura while he also did some work on KHIII, but also as a kind of "I'll leave this into your hands" thing to prepare Tabata to take over as the lead for any possible future FFXV games, so Tabata would have been the one to take on the sequels anyway, even before they replaced Nomura with him on FFXV itself.
