Nvidia Launches GTX 980 And GTX 970 "Maxwell" Graphics Cards ($549 & $329)

Trigger pulled on EVGA 980 - moving up from sli 670s. Excited about this - and the price isn't too much of a gouge in my mind.
 
GTX 580 -> GTX 980.

Altho, while i was browsing i decided it is time to retire my old 3930k and go with a 5930k instead, i may actually return the 980 and get 2x970 OC instead. Time will tell!
 
i dont really understand why anyone would go with a 980, theres only like a 7-8% performance difference bt that and the 970. you could almost have 2 970s for the price of a 980. just sli the 970s and for games that have problems with sli (which most games that have the problem eventually get fixed) just run one card.
 
I've decided to get two 970's as I have an 850w p/supply so I might as well take advantage of the thing. Depending on funds I'm either going to buy one or two of the 970's this weekend.

Which brand is best for reliability, lack of noise and having a good over clock?
 
The only cards that have gone on sale so far are Gigabyte's 970 and 980? Because I can't find anything else, or did they just all sell out already?
 
Alright, thanks for the replies about the SLI.

Now I'm leaning towards upgrading my system with a single 970 to start with and get another one later if need be. Judging from the tests it seems a single one will last a while.

The question is wether to get the Asus Strix one or the MSI Twin Frozr V one. I've been a fan (pun intended) of MSI earlier, but I haven't seen a good comparison of the two coolers yet.

Seriously, 699 for a non reference 780 (gigabyte g1)? That's well, well beyond the 549 msrp, even factoring in the typical price increase for a custom cooler.. I want a 780 but come on...

It's that plus G-Sync, ShadowPlay, GeForce experience too.

AMD does have rivals to that but they're not quite there yet.
 
So after a quick glance at the reviews in the OP, in my case, which is
1. Have a 560ti
2. Don't particularly plan on pushing past 1080p

It seems the 970 might be a good option, no ?
I'm just a little scared by the future. Watch Dogs in particular is already not 60fps in high / 1080p, I can't help but wonder what will the fps be in AC Unity and The Crew.

Another question : the only 970 I have access to and is available atm, is a Gainward one. Is it a good brand ?

To your first question: it's definitely a good option or the good option, yes. Not sure about the brand.

A lot of features specific for VR.

If Oculus do a statement i might grab a SLi of 970´s.

Otherwise im going to wait for the 20nm, where the real big jump will happen.

Yeah I'm not saying the cards are to blame, just don't want to shell out 300+ and see my beloved new card be crushed this fall. Obviously it won't be the case and worse comes to worst I will just have to be a little gentler on the settings, but you get the point.
 
God damn at the Canadian Pricing, I guess this is a no go for me even for the 970, gonna start looking for a used 780 now that people will be getting rid of them :(

I ordered the MSI Twin Frozr 970. I actually really didn't want to stick something red in my case(its all black and blue and looks nice), but I'd prefer to have MSI's than EVGA's 970 for the more quiet running. Worth an extra £10 for me.

Should be here on Monday. What would be a good asking price for a MSI GTX 670 Power Edition OC? :p Its one of the better 670 models available. I'm thinking £150?

What site did you buy it from and for what price? I see it at Ebuyer for £274.98.

There is a Palit one with a faster clock speed but I am not sure about the fan switching off under 60 degrees.

I am so close to getting the 970 MSI Twin Frozr 5. So, so close but must resist.

I have emailed my partner to ask him to talk me down from this. It should be the other way around with him asking me to talk him down.
