Why does he have an eye patch?

Big Boss stumbled on him as a puppy by chance in Africa during the new gameplay demo next to its dead mother/father. It was wounded as well, missing its right eye. Big Boss fultoned him back to Mother Base, passed the time, and he grew up, now with an eye patch.

With them showing him fully grown there's no way this game doesn't end up going all the way up to Big Boss starting Outer Heaven and sending in Snake to infiltrate the compound.
