Well you could store whatever you buy in the vault to be used by your other characters.

Yes, before 26 earning your gear by ranking up your vendor(s) and buying them with marks is.
The Nightfall strike and the Raid are also a significant source of potential gear upgrades.
Yes- as far as vendor gear, you can do this for:
-Any vanguard gear (can buy armor for any class)
-All weapons
-Anything Xur sells
Crucible armor and faction armor is only sold for the class you're on when buying it.

26. It has been done at 25, and there are level 28 enemies throughout.
Most important aspect toward success would be communication. Also, set your class attribute modifier to the one that gives you more armor
Well, what's fun varies for different people- obviously it's personal but I absolutely prefer selecting the gear I specifically want and earning it rather than equipping what I happen to get by chance. but that said I am DEFINITELY looking forward to finding awesome loot via the Nightfall Strikes, Raid and whatever other crazy hard content comes our way.
My point was that engrams aren't meant for it. they're just lotto tickets you find along the way.

I need 3 more coins for my first exotic. I'm lvl 23 and I've already done the weekly heroic. I need to do the next difficulty up on the weekly (think 26) but I'm not sure I can even select it at lvl 23. If someone else was the fireteam leader would that possible?

Really wanna do the Nightstrike but i'm only 26.
Totally fucked up and spent all my Motes on the engram without realizing that it was an exotic chest piece engram... which i already bought from Xur just moments earlier. Decrypted and WHATTYA KNOW if gave me another fucking Rasberry.
If you had asked me at the beginning of this week if i would be dismantling exotics in a few days i would have fucking laughed till my lungs hurt.
Now my heart hurts.
Need legendary boots and an exotic weapon still. Grinding like whoa tonight i'm sure. Cept my vanguard is already done. Is there any way to earn marks past the strike playlist 100 limit? Or is it a hard 100 limit on earned marks for the week?

Somehow ended up on level 27 just from doing bounties and farming Vanguard Marks by doing Earth public events, not the most exciting way to gather new gear but it seems to be the way Bungie wants you to progress your character.
Not much left to do now though, I suppose 2-3 weeks is a fair lifespan for a game.

I swear, the Traveler is a different size in each piece of concept art or in-game art that we see. Sometimes it extends completely into space, but when we see it in the Tower it's entirely contained within the atmosphere.

Maybe the game should just start you in the Tower when you log in. I mean, that's where you want to go most of the time. It would sure save me many minutes of loading screens.

Did some Nexus farming while I am aiming to beat it 4 times without dying. Was surprised to get 2 Legendaries within 5 mins and another some 10 mins later. All 3 turned into shit though.
The earth public event farm was the most efficient way for me too, I am currently maxed out and need only 5 marks or so to buy a third legendary piece. Not until tuesday.
In the end, hours and hours of farming basically only got me a Legendary special weapon. Well, and perhaps half the Coins I used for Xur. But I could also repeat the Weekly.
