I cleared the Nightfall at 25. Strikes are not the only way to get them. Public Events give 4, Material turn ins give 5.

10 strikes and 10 public events caps marks for the week, ignoring any extras for material turn ins or the weekly strikes.

There is a chance for getting legendary armor from the strike actually, it's just really small (just as it is from engrams :/).

It's a 200 mark cap, not 100, go cap your crucible marks as well. Meantime, work on raising your faction reps.

Hitting rank 3+ gives guaranteed legendary rewards, plus the unlocks to buy legendary armor/weapons.

You can be fully geared in legendary+exotic gear in a little over a week if you cap marks and gather coins.

Yup.

All my gear save for my Gauntlets, I purchased. No RNG.

Well the gloves I'll give you but yeah the chest is entirely RNG and it pisses me off so much that I wasted my motes of light in hopes of getting it only to get a hunter chest that was already being sold by him. Fuck you game I'm still sour.

Also the fact they sold the gloves 2 weeks in a row. I wanted something new. The other two classes got something new why did Warlocks get fucked?

If I had my way, it would be Rahool at the receiving end...

Was so pissed off that the sun breakers came back twice.

Just beat the daily mission on level 28 difficulty, solo. I'm level 26, fyi.

I had a pretty good time. It was intense...especially when a melee kill would OHKO me. Took my time and picked them off. The end boss wasn't a problem since you don't have to enter the room to start the battle. Just stay behind the entrance to his room and shoot. He'll eventually make his way towards you but he won't be able to follow you down the stairs so if you have the ammo, you shouldn't have a problem. My sticky sunsinger grenades really helped out.

Received 2 Ascendant Shards. Just what I was looking for :)

Recorded the run: http://www.twitch.tv/espanajefff/b/570607750

Me and two other 27/28 are looking to do the raid. We've got a few hours but we need three more of similar levels.

Send a message to Einhandr on PSN if you're up for it or have a 3 man fire team ready.

Really? It only shows blue armor as a reward for level 24/26 strikes. Even if there is still a low chance, why on earth is it such a low, low chance to get legendaries from a level 24/26 strike? At 24 is when you NEED legendaries to advance. At least make the strike worth the time with a fair chance and people will play it.

I don't PvP (at least not until Iron Banner) and so it's a 100 cap Vanguard for me. Game shouldn't force me to PvP to advance beyond 24.

I have been grinding rep doing dailies and am about to hit +3 Vanguard. How does that get you guaranteed legendary rewards? From running what? (This would be great)

Vanguard rep from strikes is also a joke by the way. +14 rep from a level 24 strike when you get 50/100 rep from a bounty that takes you 10 minutes, if that? Are you kidding me? Strike rewards are seriously screwed up in this game, and that's a reason why so many are shooting into a cave.

When buying shit is the best way to get shit in a loot game that a huge problem. You shouldnt have to grind strike and event in order to get legendary. And pvp payout are show low that you have to do a ton of them to reach the limit. And rep. is bs. Payouts for high level srtike are to low, some bounties are bs and patrols are boring as shit.

Any Ideas on how to get a kill/death spread of 25 in the Crucible, when I fucking hate the PVP in this game?

I just finished this bounty part in 1.5 Control matches, and I hate the PvP too. It seemed to be more generous with giving me credit for the +25 than what I expected, not sure why (i.e. I didn't think I actually had a +25 K/D when the bounty was awarded).

Control works well because people are more distracted capping points. Just be extra cautious and use your teammates as bait if you have to, haha.

It sure says something about your game when people would rather sit outside a cave and shoot the same two enemies for an hour rather than play a mission. There are just so many counter-intuitive decisions made with absolutely no reasonable justification. Require online connections so you can see other players, but interact with them in no meaningful way. Waste precious engrams on items for classes you aren't playing, yet allow no trading or gifting. Make purple engrams extremely rare, yet make a legendary yield unlikely. A blending of genres is supposed to take the best of other genres. You can blame the community for not emphasizing Vanguard/Crucible/Faction reputation, but I'd put the responsibility on Bungie for not properly incentivizing it.

I'm having fun playing this game, but MuseMan, wow. Nail, head.

And the game gives you the tools to get legendaries.

I'm getting pretty sick of repeating myself, but I'll answer this one more time.

You do not have to pvp to get crucible marks. Each turn-in of 50 materials gives you 5 marks, rep, glimmer, and a pile of xp for all your gear/mote level just like a bounty turn-in.

You do not have to get crucible marks to advance past 24, vanguard marks will cap you in legendary gear in two weeks, three if you don't get an exotic helmet (195 marks for gloves/chest/boots, 250 for helm+two others).

You don't have to run anything. Hitting rank 3+ with Vanguard/Crucible/Faction mails you a legendary. You might strike out and get a legendary mark, but after raising three ranks at 3+ I've received two weapons and one class item.

Bounties are time limited, comparing them to something you can run infinitely isn't a fair comparison. Not only that, I can clear several of the 24 strikes incredibly quickly. I knocked out the Venus strike in <10 minutes with a party of 25/26s.

The right way to farm rep is to join a fireteam and hit a planet in patrol mode, doing patrols all over the planet while gathering materials, resources, and doing public events. Doing so earns you vanguard marks, reputation, glimmer, materials, ships, engrams, and lets you trade in the materials for more vanguard or crucible marks and more xp, all while earning you rep towards more guaranteed legendaries.

There are already systems in place to gear yourself up. And yes, it's going to take you a week or two. If that seems onerous to you, I don't know what to tell you. I had completely shit luck with loot, and I'm still geared to the max. If I'd had better luck, I just would have reached where I am now a bit faster.

You do not have to spend hours standing in front of a cave shooting mindlessly unless you want to. You can progress via other, guaranteed methods that let you explore every planet with friends and tackle a different set of activities every day. You can do strikes, crucible, patrols, bounties, daily and weekly events, and you will raise rep and cap marks.

Do Vanguard and Crucible ranks max out at 3? I just hit Vanguard 3 after Crucible happened yesterday. If so I might as well slot a faction item?

It should keep going on and on. Each time you rank up you'll get a Legendary package from the Postmaster -- same thing that happens with the Cryptarch.

feel old school saying this but quoted for truth.

Because of this stupid weekly mark cap, it'll take me two weeks to get the sniper rifle I want from the Vanguards. Maybe I'll get lucky and find a better one. What is this cave method?

I wish the Crucible had Faction Wars, y'know Dead Orbit vs FWC, or New Monarchy vs FWC vs Dead Orbit.

Winners get more Legendary faction gear or rare mats to level their existing gear. idk make it a weekend thing once a month

Nailed it.

it hardly takes more effort to throw bullets at a few enemies for 10 minutes. but unlike those missions, farming actually drops loot.

Yet oddly enough, people who rely on RNG are the ones complaining while those of us that utilize marks and reputation are fine and content. The "I don't like doing x because it takes to long/ is boring" complaint gets invalidated when you mindlessly shoot at a low level cave for hours.

pretty happy with the gear i have now, just need to max out the boots and i'll probably give it a rest for a bit

also, after 21 levels the cryparch finally decided to reward my monogamous relationship

Quick note, you may not want to burn ascendant shards on your current legendaries. At most you can hit 29 with non-raid legendaries, and those raid legendaries need ascendant materials to cap.

I'd say stay at 28, store your shards and wait for raid armor.

Some People have already maxed my Marks and would really like to have some new gear. The Cap on Marks makes abso-fucking-lutelty no fucking sense, there isn't a monthly fee there's no reason to drag the suffering out anymore than need be.

I need someone to tell me how the hell to get all this Legendary and Exotic Gear. I've been playing this game like crazy since it came out and I have NONE of this stuff.

PLEASE TELL ME GAF! WHAT AM I DOING WRONG!?!?!?

The only Legendary I have is a Titan Mark which does nothing. I wish you could buy gear for auction in this game.

i did the raid up until the final boss, it's fun but i don't/can't really get into mmo raids again

hahaha, no.
I'm using marks and rep to buy but it is beyond frustrating and annoying to get 20+ legendary drops and have nothing to show for it. legendary drops are essentially broken for a good chunk of people and in my specific experience are worthless.
