Yep, you can also get Ascendent Energy to upgrade weapons too. You can store them in the vault to give to your main character. You're guaranteed something good in your mailbox after completing one in gold every day once per character. So potentially 3 Ascendent shards per day.

God damn. I never have gotten any and I farm the 1 hour cycle on earth all the time. Is it because it's a low level zone?

Wait. Yes th gifts from th postmaster. I thought you meant as you do each event along with rep and marks.

I am not one to boast at all, especially when it comes to competitive multiplayer because I'm generally not into "twitch shooters" that have a heavy focus on PvP...but my clan and I win about 85-90% of all of our crucible matches.

It boils down to one very simple, yet extremely important tactic:

STICK WITH YOUR TEAM, AT ALL TIMES, NO MATTER WHAT.

In clash, move as a six man unit, maintain a loose perimeter/circle as you move together through the maps. If you die, regroup immediately with someone and catch up to the rest of your team.

In control, start by moving as a team to your first two control points, and if the opposing team has moved in on your first control point, move in on theirs. Only break off from your team if you have at least one other person with you, and only do so if you think you can flank and snake a control point that they've held for a while. Communication at all times (to the point of being annoying) is literally the key to victory here. Never stop moving, and never move alone.

I consider myself to be, generally, quite terrible at competitive multiplayer but with my particular group of friends/clan members, I usually make top three on the board and I've had as much as 11 kills straight. ALWAYS aim high.

It's all because of my team. I can't imagine playing crucible with randoms. Seriously, fuck that jazz.

Does anyone have a link handy for a complete listing of the drops from VoG? I only came across a partial listing and some reddit threads with the theme of "OMG look what dropped"

I'm 27 but never done Nightfall before. No mic though so if that's a dealbreaker that's ok.

Not sure what the hallway cheese is.

Should be fine so long as you can hear me explain a few things. Send me a FR: WallachGAF

Bring void weapons for both special and heavy.

Anyone down for weekly on 360 soonish? I've already beaten it once, just want to again for the sake of my exotic bounty.

GT: arvinater

Do I get a notification when I receive one or does it just automatically go into my inventory?

It pops up on the side, it's easy to miss. Cursor over your normal level on the top left of your inventory to see your current 'xp' progress bar.

Not really worth thinking about though, just consider it an occasional bonus towards your weekly exotic engram gambling disappointment.

Anyone on XB1 wanna run the weekly heroic strike with me? I just need these last three strange coins to get that exotic warlock gauntlet!

Level 25 Warlock

Just shoot me an invite.

They can not control how fast or slow the content is consumed without complaints. We had initial complaints about bosses in Devil's Lair being "bullet sponges" but now people can clear the Strike in 10 minutes. Hell, the raid that took over 10 hours for the first clear has now been cleared in less than an hour. That's not Bungie's fault. That's people being highly motivated to clear as much as they can as quickly as they can. What can Bungie, feasibly do to combat that? Raise the difficulty and there will be complaints of "too hard!" Shove in a bunch of mandatory filler content and there will be complaints about that as well (Patrol beacons aren't received very well as it is, and that's completely optional).

So what exactly is any dev supposed to do? Have a game with 60+ hours of content that's entirely unique and dynamic? Outside the scope of possibility in reality.

Well lets see, more and better story missions, more strikes, more pvp maps for a start. I mean if you want to be an apologist for Bungie that they did not have enough time to make these things so be it. But the lack of content that you experience basically every mission type the game will have in 4 hours is kinda sad. The
Sword mission on the moon
is basically the only unique quest (and by far the most fun). Bungie can do much better with creativity and to add content to a base game to stretch it out further than a weeks worth (again only because the raid was lock) of content on release. If it were not for this gated release of the stuff they have (like certain pvp types locked away or coming at "special times" the game would have been beaten in 3-4 days. To say a game needs 60+ hours of dynamic content is ludicrous, to say it needs more than 3 days worth, I would say is not out of the realm of possibility that we as gamers demand.

When it comes to engrams I can't get a legendary armor piece to save my life, but I have gotten two legendary weapons from blue and two exotics weapons from purple. Too bad I have to alternate the exotic hand cannon and sniper rifle...

its a fantastic rifle the stability allows you to head track like no other. though you eat though ammo like crazy.

Yeah, I retired my trusty Shingen-E (level 18, fully upgraded...we've had some good times together lol) and the ammo capacity on SHADOW PRICE is going to take some getting used to.

I can't wait to fully upgrade this sucker, but I am glad someone can vouch for it's awesomeness.

Yeah...

It's wonderful fun just doing it for the marks or for the Bounties... Going up against clans as pug groups and all sorts of other poor examples of match making.

The first of the day has a guaranteed reward from the postmaster, but you have a chance at the items per event also.

That last question was rhetorical, there's no actual value in making a critique that boils down to 'make more and better stuff'.

Crucible with randoms is horrible. No you can't out-snipe a sniper with your shotgun, now revive me you idiot. Why would anyone want to play raids with these people?

Yup, stay with your bros.

Another good strategy is try not to die. Seriously. I had to do the void kill bounty which meant getting as much mileage out of heavy ammo spawns as possible. Now I'm regularly getting games where I have a 2+ kdr.

Its my go to rifle when I need rounds on target while moving. So I can focus more on where Im going rather than on having to fight the recoil to keep on target.

Useful for when I did the weekly raid thing on my own for dem coinz.

I made a post in one of the previous OT about playing the Alpha and Beta and loving it but not getting the game because I get headaches after playing for awhile.

Yeah fuck it.

I'm about to buy this on the PSN and start down loading it. There's one maybe two questions I wanted to ask that I'm not sure on.

How exactly does the PvP works?
Do I go into the PvP matches with the equipment and skills I earned in game or do I have to earn my equipment and skills in the PvP?
I never played a FPS PvP game to be honest so I'm inexperienced with this.

Everything carries over except that weapon damage is normalized according to their impact stat. Modifications still apply though like if a gun gets a damage boost after getting a kill for example. Your stats like intelligence (boosts super recharge), discipline (grenade cooldown) and strength (melee cooldown) also apply. Also whatever you get in your skill tree.

btw anyone else getting disconnects? shit started up again and is driving me insane. Read that there have been DDOS attacks going on against bungie or something so wonder if that has something to do with it?

Figured as much.

I imagine most of the Crucible is just two Fireteams stomping an opposing team of randoms. I wonder if Bungie cares, or if they want people without a steady Fireteam to just stick to deathmatch or something.

I was a few days ago (2 days i think) but I think it was just my ISP or my modem, I saw a lot of packet being dropped from simple traces.I restarted everything and it went away.

I feel like this is a terrible argument for the validity of Patrol Beacons. They're completely optional... yes... but they are still one of the main 'content' aspects of the game, so players are completely justified in not receiving them well, because they are repetitive and boring as shit.

Where did you get this? I'm just over 30 hours in, level 25, and got all my 3 legendary armor pieces through the crucible with rank and marks, and still don't have any exotic gear. I've gotten 2 legendary engrams but they turned out rare. I know the guy shows up on the weekends but I barely do strikes. When will it be my turn? Could it be because I didn't finish the story? And could someone tell me what RNG stands for?

I have all legendary and I got them rather quick when people where complaining about the drops. Now I'm getting what they got....purples into greens.

I can not get an exotic to save my life. Cryptarch is level 12.

In two days I got two of the exact same legendary Warlock boots (I'm a Hunter) from legendary engrams. Fuck off, Destiny.

Game is still fun, though.

Saying things like "more and better story mission" is so vague that I can't agree with it. That kind of general statement can literally be applied to every single game ever created. It's also hilarious that because I'm not complaining, I'm an "apologist." How about I'm just looking at the situation from a reasonable point of view rather than being cynical and shitting on something that works perfectly fine.

I can't say whether or not they "had enough time" because I have no clue what it takes to build a game like this. Most of us don't, in fact. It's easy to stand back as a consumer and just shit all over something without giving any thought to the myriad of variables that go into creating it. If the game was actually broken or the basic game was just plain bad, then there's something to complain about. But that's not really the case. People just don't like the mechanics that are in place because they want everything now instead of later. That's specifically the case when we're talking complaints about RNG and caps on Marks/Rate of Rep acquisition.

I feel like this is a terrible argument for the validity of Patrol Beacons. They're completely optional... yes... but they are still one of the main 'content' aspects of the game, so players are completely justifiable in not receiving them well, because they are repetitive and boring as shit.

It's not an argument about the validity of Patrol Beacons. I'm using the negative reception of the Patrol Beacons as an example of how players would receive "filler" content LIKE the Patrol Beacons. Especially if they were made mandatory for progression (story or otherwise).

From a chest inside the raid.
