Seriously need something to do with weapon parts and sapphire wire besides upgrade gear/weapons. Got 496 weapon parts and 545 sapphire wire :/

Putting kids to bed soon.

Anyone up for the nightfall strike?

I want some materials...

I kind of want to get my feet wet in the raid but my buddy is lagging in gear.

Most shaders I got really look like shit.

i actually liked my biohazard yellow mustard but got the boots and arms from the crucible dude and all kinds of blue fucked up my color

God, I hate those arm pieces. The shaders don't help, but those shoulders...

i actually dont think they look that bad but the whole set is messed up now, i dont have a single color but it take two or sometimes 3 tones. went to the lady spent like 8K of glimmer just to look like a pinata

I think it's worth pointing out that if a player isn't using a guide and trying to maximize how to do everything the best and getting screwed over because of it, the loot system is probably in pretty poor shape.
no way

I probably should have spent more time on this.

but if you're playing casually, you'll get all the rewards. full exotics and legendaries. the only variable is how long it will take.

even JUST doing the weekly strike, daily story, daily public event, and eventually weekly nightfall and raid... you will earn rewards from nearly everything you do even if you don't pay attention to them, and be able to progress over time.

My guides are aimed at... people who are not okay playing like this. and there are a lot of you. but not necessarily more of you than the majority of people who purchased this game and that's an important point.

Like...are people really supposed to know the public event schedule and where to show up? It feels like these are meant to be organic encounters you just come across, not some harsh mechanical schedule to follow up on.
That's exactly how they are intended and how they feel when I'm starting a strike (which puts you in a non-instanced matchmade bit of the zone) and one pops and we all stop ourselves and go take care of it.

If you don't NEED to progress as absolutely quickly as possible, farming public events is silly.
And why do the majority of the vendors use crucible marks? The PvE/P split is pretty heavily leaned in one direction from that and the HORRENDOUS value from doing the strike playlist.
I wouldn't argue it's heavily leaned in one direction at all (assuming you mean PvP). it's not like you can buy more gear per week just playing pvp.

It is heavily, incredibly OUTRAGEOUSLY tilted toward people who play both PvE and PvP in roughly equal measure. Like me :P The various Crucible mark vendors exists to provide additional goals in terms of specialization (buying the specific gear with the right stats, versus the ones with the most light), differing aesthetics, and finally, more good old fashioned grinding if you want to level them all up. luckily, it's not necessary. i'm not bothering with faction vendors yet, though I will eventually.

I would totally agree that another way for PvE-only players to get Crucible marks would be a nice gesture. That mat exchange is HELLA bad.

Anyway... i forget where I was going. need to brb for a bit and then I'll have some shit to say and then i'm fucking PLAYING.

The tower shirt is so darn cool. Kind of weirdly dark and morbid, but awesome nonetheless.

My only issue is that I don't buy shirts online usually because I don't want something super loose fitting. I'm tall enough for large, but if it means having a loose ass shirt some stores sell mediums that are long but fitting. So yeah.

Guess I'll have to wait.

Anyone want to do the Raid? Helping a level 25 complete it, but there's 3 level 28's here who have completed it and can help you.

PS4: Neverendin
Sure, I'll be up for it.

Wait! Are you guys at beginning? I rather not go through all that since I'm at the end.

6+ hours of crucible today playing Control and Team Deathmatch. 6+ hours and my team only won a handful of times.

What am I doing with my life?

Its okay. I played 6+ hours of Rumble and got 2nd place every single match except 2-3 times. One of those times was 1st place :P

I hate being so close over and over and over and over :P the RNG doesnt help either.

Also why are so many people okay with this shotgun business? Imagine if halo let you create a loadout for matchmaking with a shotty or sniper as your secondary! At least make them start in crucible with no ammo :/

"We want every piece of gear to have an epic story behind it about how the player found it."

Not sure if grinding bounties and shooting at a level 5 cave is all that epic but those are my stories so far.

You don't have to grind to get good loot. Just play the game like you normally would. I'm almost at Vanguard Rank 2 this way and I've gotten plenty of stuff.

The first part has not been true for a while. Look at loot tables from 5 mans in MoP. Every instance has some piece of gear your class can use. Sure maybe not every boss, but yes every instance. While daily quests are capped daily as in their name, You can get your weeks worth of Valor/honor/conquest/justice points in a single day. Even rep gains almost always have no limit in terms of killing mobs and getting gains (up to certain levels in some cases but in others you can kill mobs all day for rep f you want). Again, I have personally cleared raid bosses at the start of expansions in blues and leveling greens (and so where the other 24 people in the raid with me). We had no time to finish rep grinds and still could kill bosses.

It was certainly true as of Cata. The fact remains that currency is capped in both games and Destiny actually allows you to buy more gear, faster than WoW does with that currency. Rep has never been capped but it's also a much longer grind than currency.

I have also never heard of any group clearing a Raid in nothing but greens and blues but I stopped playing during Cata.

Well, that's just it. There's no reward for your hard efforts. Meanwhile, people get last place in a PvP match and get exotics. That's not normal.

Did it twice. Got me 6 shards.

What does that represent, 20-30 hours of grinding raids and public events maybe ?

Totally worth it.
I have three legendary gear for Hunter I can dismantle but at the same time, I'm sure I'm going to create a Hunter later so I haven't decided yet.

You know what the shittiest part is to me?

You should have just gone in with your friends :'( I get that you feel like you'd have been stomped and I'm sure you would've had a hell of a time, but it wasn't worth not GOING. And if it was them saying you couldn't enter with them I think that's kind of crappy too. Like, stick with your bros. I don't know. You could have found a legendary inside in the first 30 minutes. Argh. I don't man. More than anything I feel bad for you. some sliightly different choices or approaches to last-minute farming would have gotten you there, and you could've gone in without getting there anyway. :( *sigh* glad you're not giving up that easily at least!

I come from a large history of MMO experience with these guys (We cleared the first tier Cataclysm MoP, Rift, SWTOR, and Wildstar together), and we made it clear we were interested in fast progress through the raid. I didn't want to hold them back because I didn't make the grade swiftly enough, it would be unfair of me to degrade their progress. They wouldn't want me to come, either: the enjoyment of raiding for us is getting past the tough guys, getting stomped because our defender Titan isn't prepared isn't in their ball park.

Level 27, soon to be 28 Sunsinger Warlock looking for any raids tonight. Would like to do it before the reset. I have plenty of time and tons of history with raid culture. PS4, PSN same as GAF name

This is a good point. Yeah, you can make the end game work... sorta... but it's a pretty rigid system.

The PvE side of things just needs a lot more work. Vanguard strikes are the logical place to start, I think. Something like

-Dramatically increased drop rates while engaged in a Vanguard strike. Higher level strikes give more loot. Strike bosses should have a good chance to drop awesome loot/materials when fought at high levels (22-24).

-High chances of legendary gear rewards and ascendant materials/strange coins/motes of light upon completion of level 24 strikes.

-Rep awarded for Vanguard strikes increased by 3x or more to bring the time played/reward balance more in line with other activities.

Also

-Rep awarded for material exchanges should be dramatically increased. 25 rep for 50 materials is a fucking joke.

And it it just me or is glimmer pretty useless? Would be nice if I could dump some of that glimmer into rep or materials or something.

You mean the gold chests ?

Nothing. And the loot in them is terrible.

Sometimes though from random normal chests I get like 10 materials and a couple of engrams. Gold chests should be better.

golds are all preset items, if you know where they are on a fresh character the items inside help, however with 20 minutes of loot cave you can power level and get better drops so eh.

I'm sure I'm going to create a warlock later, yet I happily dismantled the exotic chest armour for Warlocks I got at Xur's from an engram.

It's just too damn hard to gather shards.

that's like a "critical chest hit," can happen anytime

I'm curious: If they did this, I would be 30 by now unless constrained by the raid gear, so 28 point something guaranteed. Is that okay with you? I personally haven't played that hardcore/farmed/done the nightfall, etc.

buy special and heavy ammo synthesis, and a coin from Xur each weekend. they might introduce new glimmer sinks.

You're not even guaranteed a drop that you can use from a boss in the 5 mans. That's not the primary path to progression. Many bosses and indeed, entire dungeons don't drop gear that your class can use. The daily system works just like strike playlist in the sense that it provides rep and currency towards the appropriate vendor gear.

And WoW caps players just as much, if not moreso than Destiny does as well. They just cap it per day rather than per week. Many times after a weeks worth of Dailies, you only have the currency for a single piece of gear. To hit the appropriate gear score, most people use a mix of the lesser boss dropped gear that they were lucky enough to get AND a few pieces of the rep gear.

Destiny doesn't give guaranteed loot drops on bosses but their is a higher chance of gear dropped from every other mob in the strike (and the world at large). If you've maxed your marks and earned the rep then in less than a week you can buy 2 pieces of Legendary gear. That plus level 20 blues that are upgraded will easily put you past level 24. The only way to stagnate at a level like 24 would be not maxing your marks and depending on rng drops in the world.

We are just going in circles here.

So I'm clear, you are fine with the loot system in Destiny? You are fine with the fact that I can do 4 or more public events in an hour, plus bounties, killing tons of mobs, so having the same shot at loot as I would in a strike, but gaining 4x more marks and most likely more rep?

My point is Strikes need fixing. Your point seems to be Strikes are fine, and I'm seriously looking for a reason as to why.

Goddamn the Fireborn ability is Destiny's ULTIMATE TROLL MODE.

So many unsuspecting little shottiebiznitches getting killed in control.

the only variable is how long it will take.

Can you really blame people for not expecting faster gear acquisition when everything else about the game is accelerated like 100 times the norm for this type of game? The time to level cap is short, the cost of vendor legendaries is cheap, and the strike playlists are very compact and squished in their level range.

"How'd you get that sweet helmet!?"
"Oh I replayed the same 4 strikes a hundred times and then I bought it from the store."

How epic.

It is faster.
