Speaking of Titan shoulder charge, does anyone have any advise on how to use it well in PVP?
I can't figure it out, it either charges too late and so I'm just running into people with a regular punch, or I'm running from too far away and get killed on my way in. I ended up just switching it out because I can't figure out how to time it properly.
Like I mentioned before, it takes time to charge up, and only lasts for a short time after it's charged. It's somewhere around 2s to charge, 5s once active. Just practice in pve to learn its timing.
Basically you have to figure out when an opponent is nearby and likely in range, start sprinting well
before you engage them, then preferably round the corner and do the tackle the instant you're in range. It has better reach than your normal melee and can be done in midair, but it also pulls you out to third person and has a long recovery, so it's a bad idea to use if there are multiple people in the area.
It's sort of a ghetto shotgun, you can use it to win close quarters fights against unprepared people who have their primary out instead of a shotgun/fusion rifle.
If you round the corner into someone who is expecting you with a shotgun/fr though, you're gonna die. If you sprint in the open, you're gonna die. If you shoulder check one dude in a crowd, you're gonna die. And if you don't give it enough time to charge up or run for too long... yeah, you're gonna die.
It's strong, but you need to make a very conscious effort to use it, otherwise you're better off with Unstoppable for the armor bonus or the shield due to its 'free' defensive bonus, which you don't need to manage nearly as much as the charge.
It can occasionally save you if you get surprised by someone at short range, but I don't like using it for/like that, I prefer my talents to be working for me by choice, not by accident. I look at that aspect of it as a nice bonus, not the main reason to take it.
