PvP is such fucking shit

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills because I don't know how anyone can like this. People just running around with shotguns on shitty clusterfuck maps. Oh, you managed to shoot at him first? Too bad he's just teleported behind you because he chose a different class and now you're dead.

Or he's got a golden gun and can one shot you for no reason. Or take a million bullets and lunge at you and kill everyone because fuck it. Why not huh?

I wouldn't even be angry if I could ignore this entire aspect of the game.

So you hate it because you're bad at it?

Titan's 'one shot melee' requires 2 seconds to charge, only stays active for ~5 seconds after charging, can be jumped over, can be shotgunned, can be fusion blasted.

If you're close enough that a Titan is shoulder checking you, he was on your radar and you didn't respond appropriately, given the time involved in activating the charge.

If it wasn't a Titan bash, you would have died just as easily and quickly to a sliding shotgun.

Treat charging Titans the same way you should be treating charging shotgunners, pull out your fusion rifle, back up, blast them and laugh when they explode.

When it's a one on one situation I can do all of this. But things aren't ever that clean. Usually it goes like this. See someone on radar, hunter, position correctly and kill them. While killing them someone else pops up and I react taking cover to regenerate shields and then in the process of killing them I get one shotted by a titan charged melee from behind. I can't account for all scenarios while engaged with someone.

If you didn't have time to respond to a blip on your motion tracker from behind, you'd be just as dead from any other class, weapon, or ability, so why are you singling out the shoulder charge as somehow broken?

I'm with you.

Additionally, I think I've only played 4 maps in my 70 hours with this game and save for one of them, they are, for me, some of the worst maps I've played in a MP game. I never want to see Rusted Lands for as long as I game.

I tend to get stuck on a loop of bastion now...I loathe the map. I am getting very close to just leaving when it comes up, but I know I put my team at a disadvantage so I tough it out, but I'm losing patience with it. I play for fun and that map isn't for me. That one with first light are by far my least favorites.

Can Motes only be spent on 1) cosmetic items from the Speaker and 2) exotic gambling with Xur?

If that's all they are good for, I'm giving them all to Xur, screw those stat-less armbands.

So far, this is the only use for them currently.

My Crucible stats:

I've now played enough to get to mostly know the maps. Because of that I've just been improving my numbers lately so my combat rating and ratio going should be going up in the next few days.

Alright, so I am seriously starting to get bothered by how EVERY SINGLE LEGENDARY ENGRAM, ALWAYS! ALLLLWAYS!!!! turns into a fucking blue....

C'mon now!

It'd be a fucking disgrace if they don't. It's borderline embarrassing that this boring farming can be more rewarding than doing strikes. Shame for me is that I can't stand doing this farm for more than a few minutes before questioning what the fuck I am doing.

It's not embarrassing at all. There will always be a way to farm in these types of games. Some people actually enjoy playing this way, as strange as that may seem.

What Bungie need to do is raise rewards from other aspects or the game, not nerf the farm.

Bastion is a terrible map, i spend more time running around then shooting other players when i play it. Bungie should limit this map to certain crucible game modes i think.

tl;dr everyone is overpowered in the crucible, get over it imo. It's always gonna be an imbalanced shit show, I never played the alpha or beta and I knew that going in.

Iron Banner is gonna be like next level shit show.

Are there any legendary auto rifles that outperform the Shingen-E? And if so which? I've heard good things about the suros regime exotic, but nothing about legendaries.

Grim Citizen III.

Got it from an Engram so I'm not fanboying it to justify my "purchase" (I think it costs like 150 Van marks).

Anyway, it feels like the Shingen-E's big bro. When upgraded, it is a monster from long range too. I was saving up for Unwilling Soul 09 prior to getting this drop, that is no longer necessary. Grim Citizen III will be my Iron Banner primary.

Pretty much agree. They simply MUST fix it, because it's fucking lame that this is currently the best way to get legendary weapons (I know, RNG, etc). What they really should do is make it so that the bosses in high level strikes drop loot. Crazy, I know, but once you reach the 100 vanguard cap, what is the point of doing strikes...? I like them, so I keep doing them, but there's no real reason to. Never get useful loot.

Dude it royally sucks I agree. I just farm it now for Blues since I hardly if ever get a Legendary drop and I level up the bastard who decodes everything in hopes he decodes for me some freaking legendaries weapons.

I honestly believe the RNG gods of Destiny hate me

PvP is soooo choatic, I struggle to maintain a 1.5 K/D+

I like my defender Titan in control, pop a shield on a flag and sit back for a fist fight.

but god its such a cluster fuck of supers going off and grenades flying over your head.

Speaking of Titan shoulder charge, does anyone have any advise on how to use it well in PVP?

I can't figure it out, it either charges too late and so I'm just running into people with a regular punch, or I'm running from too far away and get killed on my way in. I ended up just switching it out because I can't figure out how to time it properly.

Yup, i'm with you there. I mean, people actually talking about it as the strategy for this game. If that's what you need to do to show people your awesome loot and feel good about it. But um, you paid $60 to shoot into a virtual cave for hours on end? That's just awful

Because unless it was a shotgun that one shots me I would have time to GTFO under a hail of bullets. I dunno it just seems borked that I can put a throwing knife into someone's head and they are still alive but a titan can shoulder check someone and they die.

Yeah pretty much, there has to be an almost guaranteed drop for defeating bosses like there is in Crucible.

There's farming, and then there's shooting into a cave with respawning level 5 enemies for end-game gear. I'm totally fine with farming strikes for loot. Shooting into a cave (or just standing there) is lame. Really lame.

Just got a legendary scout rifle called Cryptic Dragon, was hoping for an ar, but I use scout rifles for pve so pretty happy.

Edit: I knew it wouldn't be long before there was moaning about the cave. Every mmo I play there are ways to farm and then there are those people that disagree with it. Who cares how others choose to play? I think it's Frank Grimes syndrome.

All they'd really need to do is remove blue engrams dropping from trash enemies, or at least severely reduce the drop frequency (make blue drops at purple frequency, remove purple drops.)

Do blue engrams only decrypt into items that are lvl 20 max? Most of my equipment is now Lvl 20 and I have never seen a piece that required a higher level. In that case, the only way to further increase my Light stat is by getting Legendary gear, right?

Haven't encountered a single Legendary engram yet... Despite farming for an hour at the loot cave :(. Back to grinding marks it is...

My time post level 18 has mostly been spent standing with 1-5 other people firing our weapons into a cave. Every once in a while I'll complete a story mission, I think I have the last Mars mission to do. I really wish the story was more engaging. (I also wish I would get a fucking legendary already.)

Watch your radar. If you can see that an enemy is within radar range but not in close proximity to you, you know you have the space to charge up your shoulder charge. If you can't find the enemy before it runs out, just stop for a sec then sprint again.

Shoulder charge is more of a visceral ability than a useful one. It's supposed to make you feel like a badass, instead of be overly useful.

Nah, I'm probably a .5 normally and a .7-1.0 on a good day and that's only because I don't care for tactics. Run and gun, YOLO, etc. I have fun at least.

And you're pointing this out more in a "I hope they're somehow having fun." than a "they're hurting the team", which is correct. I'm fine.

Actually, I'm not pointing out anyone who has a .5 KD ratio. :)

Go back and look at my decimal placement.

Try not to use it on purpose so to speak, see it like a shotgun when you are running and you meet someone point blanc. Trying to chase people to do it gets you killed.

the tigah knee is fucking awesome tho! hahah

Like I mentioned before, it takes time to charge up, and only lasts for a short time after it's charged. It's somewhere around 2s to charge, 5s once active. Just practice in pve to learn its timing.

Basically you have to figure out when an opponent is nearby and likely in range, start sprinting well before you engage them, then preferably round the corner and do the tackle the instant you're in range. It has better reach than your normal melee and can be done in midair, but it also pulls you out to third person and has a long recovery, so it's a bad idea to use if there are multiple people in the area.

It's sort of a ghetto shotgun, you can use it to win close quarters fights against unprepared people who have their primary out instead of a shotgun/fusion rifle.

If you round the corner into someone who is expecting you with a shotgun/fr though, you're gonna die. If you sprint in the open, you're gonna die. If you shoulder check one dude in a crowd, you're gonna die. And if you don't give it enough time to charge up or run for too long... yeah, you're gonna die.

It's strong, but you need to make a very conscious effort to use it, otherwise you're better off with Unstoppable for the armor bonus or the shield due to its 'free' defensive bonus, which you don't need to manage nearly as much as the charge.

It can occasionally save you if you get surprised by someone at short range, but I don't like using it for/like that, I prefer my talents to be working for me by choice, not by accident. I look at that aspect of it as a nice bonus, not the main reason to take it.

There was an interesting thread on DBO, about designing a third subclass for each class.

The only requirements is it would fill the damage type the class doesn't have.

Ie Void Hunter, Arc Warlock, Solar Titan

For the hunter they need a subclass for support like the other ones have. A class that makes the hunter more viable in high level PvE. Someone mentioned having a turret to draw enemy fire.

I suggested casting a one way void shield, basically, think the Knight shields, but you can shoot through it and they can't shoot you. Or maybe something that allows you to cast a void spell on enemies/a boss and it would significantly reduce the damage they do.

I would like to make a Warlock but it's too much work to build up another character. I have over 60 hours on my Hunter and still not quite satisfied with everything.

Its easier when Xur/Crytarch has screwed you over with wrong exotic armor. Plus you already have leg weapons from main acc which can be shared after lvl 20, and shit ton of glimmer so ride to lvl 20 will be faster too.

Heroic story level 28 and getting a gold rank in a public event and getting the three chests in raid and beating the entire raid. Also breaking down legendary gear you don't want.

Doing the daily strike at level 28 will guarantee 2 ascendant mats and achieve gold tier on your first daily event nets you 1 ascendant mat in the mail. Other than that, I think it's mostly random from disassembling and decoding blues/purples.

EDIT: Completing random world events can also net you ascendant mats when it is completed, but you only get them sometimes, it's not guaranteed.

Honestly everyone should be using all three character slots to do at least one daily public event each day. It takes about 30 minutes to open up the patrol mission for earth, and since everyone is farming the cave, there's always people around to help with the public event that spawns there. You can get 3 mats per day this way. Helps a lot.

Thanks guys.

imo its not good. Getting an overshield off of melee as a defender seems more valuable.

I can't post a screenshot cause I'm at work but here are my stats:
http://destinytracker.com/destiny/player/ps/rugioh

can we make some sort of organized PvP GAF clan/team? I see that there are solid players here... lets make this happen.

finally got an Exotic Bounty. what gun should I pick?

Thorn
Bad Juju
Invective

People seem to be let down by Thorn. Apparently a vendor legendary has better stats.

I went with Invective because I run an Auto Rifle/Shotgun combo.

Grim Citizen III + Invective is my current loadout.
