There was an interesting thread on DBO, about designing a third subclass for each class.

The only requirements is it would fill the damage type the class doesn't have.

Ie Void Hunter, Arc Warlock, Solar Titan

For the hunter they need a subclass for support like the other ones have. A class that makes the hunter more viable in high level PvE. Someone mentioned having a turret to draw enemy fire.

I suggested casting a one way void shield, basically, think the Knight shields, but you can shoot through it and they can't shoot you. Or maybe something that allows you to cast a void spell on enemies/a boss and it would significantly reduce the damage they do.

If we didn't already have golden gun, I'd suggest something similar that, instead of just dealing high damage, marks the hit location to increase damage dealt to it for a short time. This would be massive in PVE for taking down bosses, but pretty lackluster in pvp lol.

I have nightmares because of that sprint cooldown. It has got me killed so many times in Crucible when I can't pull off my planned tricks because sprint is suddenly on CD :(

People seem to be let down by Thorn. Apparently a vendor legendary has better stats.

I went with Invective because I run an Auto Rifle/Shotgun combo.

Grim Citizen III + Invective is my current loadout.

For the people let down by Thorn, has anyone unlocked the Damage Over Time upgrade? I haven't yet, so I do feel Thorn is weaker than my rare HC that has explosive rounds and a faster reload. But I'm hoping the DoT will make Thorn more viable. I really really want The Last Word, though.

One thing I will say about the Crucible is the lag can be pretty fucking terrible at times. I got a postmortem kill from fucking melee tonight.

The netcode in crucible is terrible I get this all the time. The connections in crucible are some of the worst I have seen. I'm assuming this is p2p and not running on bungies servers?

Coming from titanfall where I always have a ping no higher than 35ms it's really hard to enjoy pvp in destiny I'm constantly trading kills or seeing people die a second or so after I should have killed them.

Anyone on GAF with a higher combat rating?

Nah, mine was pretty much right there until a few days ago, started to explore different guns and playstyles and it's hurt me a bit, still got a decent KD though

There's farming, and then there's shooting into a cave with respawning level 5 enemies for end-game gear. I'm totally fine with farming strikes for loot. Shooting into a cave (or just standing there) is lame. Really lame.

These things have existed in mmo style games since their inception.

There's no real way to nerf them due to the way these games are designed. Someone will always discover a new way to exploit the system.

Bad JuJu is an Pulse Rifle with a very small clip (five bursts) but reloads instantly on kills. So you will be fine in PvE but not good in PvP.

Thorn will probably be the same in both modes

Except that that clip is so small that unless you are fighting weak things you aren't going to get that instant reload. Getting it and pocket infinity have been really disappointing.

Aw yeah finally got my exotic weapon bounty.

Went with the shotgun. I really don't like shotguns, but I accidentally dismantled my rare one I was using for PvP and only had this stupid green one so I went with that.

Yes, no.

I use my 12 round HC over Thorn in almost all situations.

There are a few edge cases where the dot is useful, but the mag is too small and the reload too slow for general use.

I'm not sure if this is fully understood, but the Legendary weapons in the tower have fixed mods - you can find the exact same weapon in the wild with different mods.

Mods can absolutely define a weapon, the right combination can do amazing things for different guns.

The name sets the baseline stats, but the mods affect everything else about its behavior.

(It's also one of the reasons that even though everyone is/can be in full exotic/legendary in a bit over a week, the hunt for 'perfect' loot will go on for a looooooooooong time - to get a full set of all primary weapon types and elements for special/heavy with the mods you want on the guns you want is going to take weeks, probably months)

I get that, but what I was saying was going on the "baseline" model, as what I consider the Tower vendors variants to be. The tower variant for Doctor Nope has a *massive* stability upgrade. It'll still be slightly lower than the Shingen-E, stability wise, but it's high enough to at least give it a test.

The only problem is until it is tested, it's still possible it could be inferior. The impact is slightly lower than the Shingen-E, but the ROF as y'know is insane.

The "baseline" Vanquisher, however, has a ridiculously high stability once upgraded. It looks like it'll be a great gun.

No, I literally cannot hear it, period.

They set the frequency past old man ears.

You and me both, man. We're getting too old for this shit.

Angry Joe review is long and very harsh on the game:

He's pretty on-target, too, but it's been discussed, so I digress.

Titan's 'one shot melee' requires 2 seconds to charge, only stays active for ~5 seconds after charging, can be jumped over, can be shotgunned, can be fusion blasted.

If you're close enough that a Titan is shoulder checking you, he was on your radar and you didn't respond appropriately, given the time involved in activating the charge.

If it wasn't a Titan bash, you would have died just as easily and quickly to a sliding shotgun.

Treat charging Titans the same way you should be treating charging shotgunners, pull out your fusion rifle, back up, blast them and laugh when they explode.

<3 you. We share opinions, we should play.

So I've pkayed over 20 hours of gameplay. Have a 1.11 KD in Crucible and am Level 21.

Still have zero Legendaries or Exotics........feels bad bro.

does anyone think this weapon is pvp worthy? that radar while ADS bonus seems legit

Absolutely. As soon as I saw the stats on that gun when browsing the Crucible Quartermaster I knew it would be a good gun for both PvP and PvE. I told my friend who also loves handcannons to buy it and he says it is indeed amazing. Once I get the marks I'm definitely going to buy it myself.

Yes, that's the hand cannon I use. I started to dominate with it, once I unlocked the range upgrade.

It's not embarrassing at all. There will always be a way to farm in these types of games. Some people actually enjoy playing this way, as strange as that may seem.

What Bungie need to do is raise rewards from other aspects or the game, not nerf the farm.

I agree with this. At least make the strikes more valuable-say 100 points.

RNGesus loves me, first legendary engram, which I got when coming 2nd in clash, and I get a legendary helmet for my class.

Same here. First legendary engram gave me a helmet, and although the perks kinda suck (orbs regen melee), it's nice to have a purple helmet as those are more expensive than other legendary armors.

Agreed. I spend a few hours on missions, strikes, the tower, getting upgraded materials and whatnot but close out my day at the cave. I can spend a couple hours their easily. So satisfying and rewarding just headshotting enemies while talking to friends about my day. It's like therapy. Plus, every 30 minutes you get an event to do and once an hour the enemy turns on each other and it's all out mayhem for 10 minutes with wizards and knights running all over the place. Getting 3 legendary and enough blue to rank up Cryptarch from a 6 to a 12 last night doesn't hurt, either.

EDIT: Every time I rank up Cryptarch, the mailman gives me a couple purple engrams to decode. Icing on the cake.

Did you use gauntlets that have the upgrade which increases HC reload speed? I find that helps, as does Gunslinger's Chain of Woe. But Torah, my other HC has a great reload so I tend to use that more.

Nice stats, mine took a nose dive after doing a lot of gimmicky shit for Daily and Exotic Bounties, but im sure everyone is in that same boat.

And no, its a great perk on a hand cannon with 6 round clip but its not amazing.

imo its not good. Getting an overshield off of melee as a defender seems more valuable.

I can't post a screenshot cause I'm at work but here are my stats:

can we make some sort of organized PvP GAF clan/team? I see that there are solid players here... lets make this happen.

Watch your radar. If you can see that an enemy is within radar range but not in close proximity to you, you know you have the space to charge up your shoulder charge. If you can't find the enemy before it runs out, just stop for a sec then sprint again.

Shoulder charge is more of a visceral ability than a useful one. It's supposed to make you feel like a badass, instead of be overly useful.

Try not to use it on purpose so to speak, see it like a shotgun when you are running and you meet someone point blanc. Trying to chase people to do it gets you killed.

the tigah knee is fucking awesome tho! hahah

Like I mentioned before, it takes time to charge up, and only lasts for a short time after it's charged. It's somewhere around 2s to charge, 5s once active. Just practice in pve to learn its timing.

Basically you have to figure out when an opponent is nearby and likely in range, start sprinting well before you engage them, then preferably round the corner and do the tackle the instant you're in range. It has better reach than your normal melee and can be done in midair, but it also pulls you out to third person and has a long recovery, so it's a bad idea to use if there are multiple people in the area.

It's sort of a ghetto shotgun, you can use it to win close quarters fights against unprepared people who have their primary out instead of a shotgun/fusion rifle.

If you round the corner into someone who is expecting you with a shotgun/fr though, you're gonna die. If you sprint in the open, you're gonna die. If you shoulder check one dude in a crowd, you're gonna die. And if you don't give it enough time to charge up or run for too long... yeah, you're gonna die.

It's strong, but you need to make a very conscious effort to use it, otherwise you're better off with Unstoppable for the armor bonus or the shield due to its 'free' defensive bonus, which you don't need to manage nearly as much as the charge.

It can occasionally save you if you get surprised by someone at short range, but I don't like using it for/like that, I prefer my talents to be working for me by choice, not by accident. I look at that aspect of it as a nice bonus, not the main reason to take it.

Thanks for all the responses, I'll give it another go with but in the end it sounds like it may be a little too situation dependent for my liking.

Big Destiny weekend.

Got through 2.5 bosses (;D) of Vault of Glass with a real old school GRAW 360 gang. I was the lowest on the totem pole at 26.5 but man was it a blast. We're all running around, pulling up Reddit starts and reading them out loud. We got up to the Oracle(s) boss and called it a night. Only got rare mats as rewards but I ain't gonna say no to those. Always need those.

Oh, and I hit 26, obviously! Lucked into enough Strange Coins to get the titan helm and EARNED enough rep to get more legendary armor.

The Raid taught me, though, I really need to have a broader range of elemental weapons. Until a new Raid comes out, I'm "about that arc life".

Oh ALSO I went to level 3 with my hunter and warlock and OH MY GOD YOU GUYS THE CLOTHES. Even white stuff looks so rad on these dudes I can't believe it. I'm so glad I started with, let's be honest, boring looking Titan. These two are like 17 seasons of Project Runway rolled into one.

Matter of fact (Angry Joe! Earmuffs!), Bungie I will PAY YOU to have Tim Gunn re-record all of Ghost's dialogue.

"We've awoken the Hive! This worries me!"

Get some new loot: "I can see myself having a positive reaction to this."

DO IT BUNGIE.

After 0 legendary engrams so far I received 6 last night. I only ended up getting one actual legendary item out of them, but that is ok for now. I got a lot of materials.

I think the only way I'm going to get anything would be to keep leveling up my Cryptarch. His gifts are wonderful.

I'd be in on this. I'm an excellent contributor, but not a lead killer, on the PvP front. Far too aggressive, although getting rid of Titan shoulderblock / going defender should help there.

Titan shoulderblock gets me killed so often. Really considering a Juggernaut / Storm Fist / Shotgun build, but that'll require new armor.

I don't like PvP in general either (I kinda enjoy Skirmish from time to time, though, but that's it), and it's a chore having to do it for Marks and Rep.

Right now I'm at work remote playing (barely, due to impossible lag). I'm basically cheesing people with a shotgun or hoping my super is activated so I can get a cheap kill, otherwise the match doesn't seem to count for the bounty.

I only do Rumble like this so I don't hurt my team, and I guess the other players can get some free kills on me.

does anyone think this weapon is pvp worthy? that radar while ADS bonus seems legit

f4a0981932af4e0a5be9dc21fa9dba46.jpg

I love the radar while ADS on my sniper rifle, but I don't know how useful it would be on a primary. The only time I ADS with a primary is when I'm actually shooting someone. At that point I wouldn't be looking at the radar anyway.

Really wish sniper rifles just bypassed sheilds if you use the right element. So tired of headshots not doing jack or taking 3 or 4 hits.

I've had 100% hit rate with legendary engrams that were given by postmaster as a reward for leveling up Cryptarch, by 100% I mean legendary item or coins or motes but never a blue or green. I find it kinda curious..

Yeah it needs to be viable to PvP too.

I just wish Hunters were better for PvE. If I was forming a raid team I think I'd take another titan or warlock over a hunter.

Hunters can do camo revives and blade dancer is good for add control, but can still be risky, but other than that they don't have the co-op incentives Defenders and Sunsingers have.

So I maxed out my marks for both Crucible and Vanguard for the week, and while I've been doing a few bounties for rep (still not rank 3 with either faction) I've largely been making and leveling up alts.

My main Warlock is level 27 and his progression seems to largely be held back at this point by a lack of ascendant shards / energy to comlete my legendary & exotic upgrades. I've got full legendary / exotic armor and the weapons don't give light (although I only have a legendary primary at this point. Working on the exotic shotgun bounty).

Anyway, I've been doing a public event with every character every day and it's a nice bonus for the ascendant materials since you get one in the mail for free for your first public event completion of the day. It's still only 3 / day, but 3 is better than 0 and I'm getting XP leveling at the same time anyway.

Just curious, what's the best way to farm these materials?

I get that, but what I was saying was going on the "baseline" model, as what I consider the Tower vendors variants to be. The tower variant for Doctor Nope has a *massive* stability upgrade. Yeah, something that's kind of confusing is that the base stats of a weapon (including its recoil pattern) are set by some hidden type stuff that isn't visible in the game. A lot of it is in the strategy guide, but not all the guns are covered (no raid weapons in there).

The Shingen-E belongs to the 'Stable' group, and from what I can see, there are no Legendary weapons that share that group (there might be one in the raid or other uncovered weapons, but none of the covered legendaries have it).

Lesse...

Dr Nope is Rapid (same as Sahara and all other super high rpm/low impact ARs)

Vanquisher is Precise.

Relative to Stable, Rapid is +ROF, -damage, -range, -stability, =handling, +reload, ++magazine size.

Precise is -ROF, +damage, +range, =stability, -handling, +reload, -magazine size.

The Precise recoil pattern looks only a hair worse than Stable. Rapid is, as you might guess, pretty hairy.

What Bungie need to do is raise rewards from other aspects or the game, not nerf the farm.

This, I don't enjoy PvP in general and I can't rely on having my mates online to do strikes so a bit of mindless farming helps me and my friends get geared up in a relatively short time frame to play the more fun stuff. I wouldn't mind if every exotic was a raid/strike reward but the gear necessary to get to at least [i[try[/i] those activities was more readily available. It may 'only' take a few dozen rounds of PvP to get the gear but most of my friends don't have that time, ten mins grinding will often provide enough gear to at least boost by one light level.

Improve the rewards for structured activities and the grind cave will fade away.
