Crazy - especially since they specifically set them to replay them on higher difficulties with modifiers. I never expected the guaranteed upgrades you get with the first runs of the story missions, but I did expect some random lootstuffs when finishing the activity, like everything else. But OK, just another bit of weirdness to add to the list.

Is this true with the daily too?

I would like to know this, before I do the Heroic daily at lvl 24 it says that there is an Ascended Item as a reward and 2 Ascended items from the Lvl 28 version. When I'm done the bonus text disappears from both.

Decent impact, high rate of fire, low recoil, decent clip, decent reload speed, range is good enough for most maps. Basically, it has no weakness, and you can get headshots left and right no problem. The same plusses can be said for the Cydonia, but trade clip for higher impact with a bit lower rate of fire and faster reload. There are also purple and orange guns with almost the same exact base stats as these two guns with different names.

Well, I like my shadow price with its high impact. I hate high fire rate high magazine rifles.

uhm, how does pvp work? You have the same gear as you use in the 'story mode'? If that's the case, I guess that the matchmaking puts you with people near your level?

Level advantages are disabled, but all the upgrades you've unlocked for your subclass, armor, and weapons carry.

looking at all this rage about the cave grind really brings me memories from the inferno difficult of Diablo 3 in vanilla ... and i am not a fan of this era at all!

Diablo 3 was on a completely different level of infuriating. I ran the butcher so many times I lost count.

I really don't understand the hate for cave farmers. Don't like it? Don't do it. There are various ways to gear up for high level strikes and raids. You don't NEED to choose one or the other, and you don't need to criticize someone that chooses a different path than you.

I am honestly worried about the Queen's update tomorrow. If it's just more bounties i can't see myself really caring.

It sounds like there's going to be another Bounty Vendor somewhere at the Tower called the Queen's Emissary, and it's just gonna be more Bounties. But the rewards from these Bounties will be pretty good I'm betting.

Do you really not see the difference between shooting into a cave and doing a strike or mission or PvP? Yikes. You can do better than that and you can do better than pushing some sophomoric "everyone has an opinion and that's super awesome" ideology.

You're the one that isn't seeming to understand that people simply aren't feeling rewarded consistently by doing a strike or mission or PVP. They can spend an hour doing those and not get anything of worth, or spend an hour at the cave and get a bunch of engrams that, despite maybe not being worthy items in the end, have a perception of being tangible rewards. It's the path of least resistance to consistent rewards. It isn't hard to understand. It's basic human psychology.

People want the "achievement unlocked" sound effect, they want the little x to appear over their crosshair when they hit someone in Call of Duty, they want the "dun dun dun DUUUUUN" when they open a chest in Zelda, they want the yellow glow and "DING" of leveling in WoW, they want the piles of loot spewing out of a defeated boss and the special noise an orange makes when it flies out in Diablo 3. These are all pleasing things to a player and encourage consistent and repeatable play to continue those good feelings.

Beating a difficult boss and getting nothing, or getting some points in a little bar in the UI without immediate reward or feedback is simply BAD DESIGN. Even seeing 3-4 green engrams, and maybe a blue, with a chance at a legendary and/or exotic, fly out of a boss when it is defeated would be so much more immediately gratifying, fun, and pleasing than the system in the game right now.

That's because it's daily. Did you get the materials or not? o.o

With Orange weapons, it's generally the perks that make them better, however you're comparing two different types of machine guns here. That would be like comparing a sahara auto-rifle to a shingen. However, there are some truly unusable Orange weapons, like Bad JuJu.

I just couldn't believe the difference in usability. The rare outranks the exotic in nearly every gunplay category, except rate of fire in which its not too far off at all.

I think all weapons are pretty equal in PVP, even upgraded. Biggest differences would be scopes, magazine size, reload speed etc. But in terms of power and damage I don't think they change much, if at all.

Damage is equalized in regular multiplayer I think, so the difference comes from everything else (individual gun stats or special abilities granted).

i completely agree, what bugs me is the "angry" in all the internet.

High clip Machine guns tend to have about the same stats as that exotic. Low clip machine guns do tend to be better in pvp.

So now that I've reached Vanguard Rank 3, should I just level up the other factions?

Depends on your goal. If you want free legendary weapons for the additional rank ups, I'd take a PVP faction to 3+ because you can funnel all reputation points into a PVP faction while you can't do this for Vanguard or Crucible.

Otherwise, it's still not a bad idea to take a PVP vendor up to rank 2 so you can use your Crucible marks, though I'm not sure where your character stands at the moment gear-wise.

No. It doesn't. Gear stats like armor and attack are normalized, but your opponents will have gear perks and abilities according to their level.

so bad juju is crap? i just get this bounty before finished the thorn one .. was hoping for an primary weapon exotic, i think i just missed =/

I think my brother's exotic helmet gives him 4 shots for the golden gun ability. Does that carry over to PvP as well?

Raid complete last night! Congrats to GutZ, UnwrittenZero, amcc, Chainshada and that one random we had to get in since BitmapFrogs is sick :D

We should be able to run the Raid now weekly in under 2hrs.

Right now I'm doing decent for myself. I finally got past that lvl 24 hump on Saturday and I'm now lvl 26 with purple gear on my head, arms, and torso. I'm just about rank 2 in crucible and that's what I've mostly been playing just so I could spend my marks.

No- the daily at higher difficulties gives you guaranteed ascendant materials.

Okay, I get you. dice rolls are really never in my favor, so for me the value would be in all the stuff you're describing as the secondary benefits- decrypted blues into Motes, ascendant materials, rep, etc. rather than the expectation of any useful gear (well, especially now anyway, I'm getting pretty high up :P)

use it even when you don't need to ;) It's not just for moments where you are all out of ammo and desperate. a full second immediate barrage of heavy weapons fire will cut down on kill times for lots of bosses and/or large defense waves.

Is there a quick way to use the ammo packs? I almost always get wrecked when I try to open options, go to inventory and then click the pack I need.

Explain why there is a difference? Loot farming and grinding is just as much a part of the game as strike missions and PvP. No, I see no difference. Shooting into a cave full of spawning enemies is no different than shooting into a room full of spawning enemies. Literally no different. You aim, you fire, you kill stuff. You don't have to shoot, but going AFK while farming and still getting loot is exactly the same as going AFK in a strike and still getting loot. There is no difference. The only difference is that YOU think there's a "right way" to play and a "wrong way". The problem is that it's not true.

I got 1 because I did the lvl 24 version (I'm stuck at lvl 25), but the reward description disappears from level 28 version too, I don't remember this happening on the weekly.
Ah yeah. On the weekly, you'll see the coin amount subtracted from the ones you've already done, so you can only get up to a total of 9. But for the daily, you pick a difficulty and have one shot. I personally really enjoyed the challenge of the 28s at 26 but I know it won't be for everyone.

I have yet to fully level it up, been using it in pvp trying to do so, I've lost .2 on my k/d since trying. But yeah, the base gun is crap, if you get body shots with all 15 shots it doesn't kill someone, and it's difficult to get headshots with because of the crazy instability. Pissed me off after doing the bounty, had the same idea you did. Others that have leveled it up have said it still sucks for pvp, and it's only good for trash mobs in pve.

Oh and it flashes constantly and take up almost 1/3 of the screen.

Yes, it does.

I finally beat the weekly heroic strike solo yesterday.

I am trying to figure out if it scales the difficulty based on how many members are in the fire team. I was in a group Friday night and we couldn't beat it with the 3 of us. I alone had like 40 deaths. In my solo run I only died once.

Granted, I was much more strategic in running it solo so that may have affected it. I also used the exploit for the Summoning Pits where you camp in the entry room and shoot Phogoth and retreat to the previous room when enemies come at you.

I want to run my buddy through it that needs it for his exotic bounty. That is the only reason I even bothered trying it solo later. I am also better equipped than the first run which had to have an impact too.

yep, to go further, if there were more interesting places to explore, and more variety in terms of strikes, and re-playable story missions, and all these things would give me something 'interesting' at the very least in the end, I would be doing all these activities.

But since there aren't interesting places to go, limited amount of strikes, and terrible story chapters, and a insanely AWFUL pvp section, farming the cave is about the only worthwhile activity in terms of progression.

At least after a few minutes of doing that, you get a sweet cave full of shiny engrams to pick up and feed to the cryptarch, and who knows, you might get something awesome. That's how I got my legendary gauntlets, legendary rocket launcher, and legendary machine gun...farming the cave.

Not exploring some amazing landscape, not a super fun and intense strike, or finishing up a fantastic mission in the campaign.

The small magazine is annoying. 15 bullets = 5 shots. With the instant reload and stability upgrades maybe it gets better. I don't know.

So still holding back Kings Watch, I see.

I really dont like this approach to Destiny...

You can glitch in there right now and take your anger out on some Fallen if you'd like :)

In terms of Bungie's approach, I imagine if they'd opened everything up right from the beginning; Raid(s), Queen's bounties, currently locked areas not tied to DLC (e.g. those in Old Russia), then people would likely binge on everything and then put the game aside. They clearly want to make Destiny something that you want to keep coming back to in the coming months regardless of what new and shiny thing has been released, and so they give you a reason to do that by dishing this stuff out piecemeal each week. It's not an approach I'm incredibly fond of either, but I can understand why they chose to go that route.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I like my Bad Juju. It's got a difficulty curve to it but I've beat out AR's many times after I got used to it. And I haven't unlocked the stability or the Curses yet either.

I know story missions scale, so maybe strikes do to. What level did you run it at? I'm curious because it's looking like I might have to run this alone for my bounty. Though I really want to run it at level 28 for the 9 strange coins.

Oh my god I have to wait until Friday until I can do anything with this exotic bounty. Awesome, just stuck with it taking up a bounty slot in the meantime.
