Nvidia Launches GTX 980 And GTX 970 "Maxwell" Graphics Cards ($549 & $329)

Any Dark Souls 2 DSR benchmarks for the 970? It will probably be the first game I fire up when I get the card on Wednesday.

I am getting 60fps locked (even at Bonfires) at 4K. :p DS2 PC port is so good, thanks based FROM.

Got my two 970s today. These bad boys chew Crysis 3 up even at max settings.

Bring on GTA5/Wticher 3...

I held off playing Crysis 3 and boy was it worth it. Looks so fucking good now. (I am getting drops below 60 if I go to 1440p though)

There seems to be some problem with the latest driver/Geforce Experience.

When I launch The Witcher 2 I get this (not my screenshot).

Did some searching and it started happen for other people as well recently in some games and uninstalling GF Experience solves it apparently.

Hope there will be a fix soon.

Got my 2x Gigabyte 970's in today, put them in a NZXT H440 with an Intel 5820k processor overclocked to 4.2 GHz.

HOLY CRAP these cards are amazing!!!!!!! Silent when idle and under load (or at least quieter than my case fans). Run at around 32 degrees when idle, don't get above 68 degrees even in the most demanding games I've been able to throw at them. And this is in a case that's not designed for a lot of air flow!

As far as performance goes, I'm blown away. I just can't believe how amazing it is to run everything maxed out on my 2560x1440p monitor.

I upgraded from a GTX 680, and I couldn't be happier.

man how did you get your lower 970 fan to not hit the USB 3.0 plug right near it.
my 770's would hit it so I went from x3 SLI to x2

Asus rog swift...check
3d vision 2 kit...check
And now...
2x gtx980...check!

Just waiting for metro duster to arrive so I can clean my case (thanks dirty case thread!) and return to team green. I have been on ati/amd graphics hardware since upgrading my 9800gx2 to a 5870. Can't wait to try out some nvidia nonsense! =)

Yup, had this problem with sexy beach zero and uninstalling Geforce Experience fixed it.

Ran into a bit of problem installing my new 970.

My PSU (Corsair TX 750) only has two PCI-E cables that are both 6 pin. The 970 requires a 6 pin and an 8 pin.

The card came with a 4 pin molex (two ends) 8 pin. Are those ok to use? I just youtube'd something and the guy recommended upgrading the PSU. Is my 3 year old PSU really outdated already?

Also, where do I plug in these 4 pin molex ends if they are okay to use? The cable of the PCI-E doesn't have any extra offshoots for it.

edit: nvm, i'm an idiot. Apparently that extra 2 pin that is hanging from the 6 pin is "plugged in" together with the 6 to form an 8 pin. I'm so dumb.

I don't believe I'm using a USB 3.0 plug on the bottom of the motherboard, there's one on the side near the SATA ports that has the front panel cable plugged into it.

Ugh, the Gigabyte G1 970 is calling my name. Too bad no one seems to have one in stock.

Any idea what a non-Ghz 7970 is worth? Never been OC'd.

Any thoughts on what an upgrade from a 690 to a 980 would be in terms of performance? Would it be big enough to warrant the purchase?

See what 280Xs are going for. Go a smidgen lower than that.
Anyone wanna trade 2 970s for an Asus DCUII 780TI?

Nope?

I tried :(
I have a 780 Ti Classified Kingpin Edition, 780 reference, and R9-290 all with waterblocks. Should've sold them 2 weeks ago :(

Raw performance would be less.

However, you wouldn't have to deal with SLI profiles, and there's probably a number of games that would run better.

*edit*

And you wouldn't have a frame of input lag from SLI anymore.

Just slammed my new 980 into my PC and ran BF4 on Ultra at 1440p on my ROG SWIFT using gsync on it for the first time and I'm so slain omg

Thanks for the replies =)

Just wanted to check, I assumed they could do SLI, just seeing that on the store, confused me slightly.

Where is this chart from?
It's only good for extremely rough estimates, and really doesn't mean a whole lot, especially for the cards that are within 20% of each other. They can flip or do amazingly well in one game, and then not in another.

I have a feeling they base it off of a single benchmark like Firestrike or something.

Now enable ULMB for maximum amazingness.

For any Canadians interested, NCIX just charged me for my MSI 980 preorder.

According to their website that means they have an ETA known, but when I called the clueless sounding person who answered had no idea when.

Speaking of NCIX, they have the ASUS 970 for $380. Not quite bad if you take note of the exchange rate. Still wondering if I should buy it now or not. Err

Any chance that my i5 4590 will bottleneck a 970? It's not 'K' so I'm stuck with 3.30GHz.
Bottlenecks aren't an either/or thing, and exist on all parts for different reasons at different times.

Yes, your processor, due to the lower clock speed, is going to bottleneck you in certain games. But it already does no matter what video card you have.

Think of it like this, a lot of the stutters and slowdowns you might have in multiplayer games, strategy/RTS games, or anything with really heavy physics modeling will continue. But your average frame rate will increase otherwise.
