What's the price difference between the 2 graphics cards in the Xbox One and the ps4? Just rough model difference
It's irrelevant.
Price is more to do with the manufacturing process and APU size, not graphical power.

Yeah but they'll understand part of their current strong sales is aligned to perceived desirability of the console. To maintain that they need to try and maintain view its more popular. For sure they won't respond to small changes but they might if it came close to 1 to 1 : that's dangerously close to having the market perceive the two as now equally valuable (and they know anything like that would get a lot of coverage).
Given my experience in UK retail market I'd suspect they'll try to maintain at least a 1.2 to 1 ratio if not 1.3 to 1 if at all possible.
Of course the advantage is with Sony. If this price cut doesn't change trends much it re-enforces their position and actually makes Xbox look weaker.
Personally continued Xbox price cuts are fine for me; I don't have one and would only get it for exclusives so the cheaper the better but clearly MS would hope to see some payback in terms of increases sales. They will, question is whether it's a tiny bump too small to matter or something more noticeable.
First £299 Xbone by Xmas... I'd lay money on it.
Sony closed the gap because on top of improving the value of PS3, MS also completely threw the end of the generation. There is absolutely no way that Sony are going to get as complacent this generation as MS did last generation.
All it takes is one Holiday period of complacency to let a competitor back into the race, and looking at Sonys lineup for this holiday period, it isn't particular good.
I think a combination of Halo, great deals for Cod and Fifa, unique games like SO will see MS close the distance at least in NA and the UK. Europe will remain the same.

They're not going to sacrifice profit, especially when you consider Playstation is Sonys only division that's making them money at the moment. Sony just lost 1bn dude. Whether the X1 gains any ground is irrevelent to Sonys bottom line.

SO mainstream system seller? I would be hugely surprised...

Profit is not hardware alone, it's in software too. Losing marketshare in hardware shrinks software sales. You think Sony would ever want to lose having majority sales of the biggest games? EA and Activision putting Destiny and FIFA on PS4 isn't free for them.
Majority of the lineup of both consoles are identitcal. Saying one console lineup isn't particularly good and propping up another is pure fanboy talk. Nobody is going to care about SO over AssCreed or FarCry 4 because of who is publishing them, outside of forums.
I think it's quite amusing how you are constantly wrong with your Sony ~informations~.They're not going to sacrifice profit, especially when you consider Playstation is Sonys only division that's making them money at the moment.
It's not like you'd be getting the same package for 100 pounds less now than at launch. You don't get Kinect with it and going by the US price for Kinect bought separately, buying Xbox One + Kinect hasn't become cheaper yet (using the official prices). If you bought an Xbox One with Kinect at launch, you should still be able to get at least 50 punds back by selling Kinect (judging by German used prices), so you've only lost 50 pounds + whatever retailers sell the system under the rrp. Regarding RRP, Xbox One didn't drop too much in its first year.Way to ensure that no one in the UK buys a Microsoft console on the day of release ever again. A reduction of £100 in less than a year since its release, damn.
History.
Actually, for a while the PS4 was the cheapest (By £90!), which is when it got it's foothold in the UK.
I called it before they both launched and I was right....... But now the prices have switched, leaving us with a situation that contradicts UK gaming history. An interesting time.
I preordered a SO bundle about a month ago for £329, so I think the bundle has always been that price.

Lmaooo so you are saying XB1 will sale -
NA - 700k+ units that what PS4 will sale
UK - 400k+ units that what PS4 will sale
Your posts make my eyes bleed.
Are you not aware that the cheapest console in every generation was the biggest-selling in the UK? (The only exception was the 360 beating the Wii recently, which is mainly because Nintendo dropped Wii support a lot faster)
Is such a price drop normal there?
Sounds kind of... small/insignificant?
I bet the Dreamcast really wishes that were true.
So... Microsoft loses?Consumer wins.
Yea, $1bn in losses dude. That's how much they've lost. When that happens, you don't go on to interfere with a profitable division which will then lose you more money in the process.
Yeah i know a lot of people that say 299 + a game or two would be their sweet spot.
380 is just too much for most people.
They should cut the price to that in the US if they are serious tho..
Hmmm...

Well, that's good for customers but not for the competition.
I think the Xbox One is the console to get at the moment in my opinion. The games are better, again IMO.
Don't get me wrong, i will play a lot of DriveClub but other than that ? a couple of multiplatform games maybe.
I'm way more exited to play Halo MCC and Sunset Overdrive.
I hope Sony don't take their sales for granted, competition is always good. Both need to give their 100% for us, the customers.
Things do not work like that.
Sony's financial problems at the moment are not within the gaming division.
Cutting the price of the PS4 is something that depends on manufacturing costs and Sony's own internal schedule for that particual product.
A price cut can lead to bigger profits if the hardware is still sold at a positive margin while sales of software, subscriptions, accessories all skyrocket because of the price cut. Also being able to manufacture more units means that fixed costs per unit go down.
In 2015, with the amazing lineup scheduled for the PS4, Sony will definetly try to maximize sales of the whole ecosystem with a price cut. This year there will be bundles, November will be absolutely huge if an exclusive GTAV bundle is announced.
I think Vita has been the system to get for the past two and a half years. Nothing wrong with being in a minority.seems you're in a minority
Are we seriously rating value per gigafucks?
Fucking hell, I get 2 gigafucks just docking my Vita in its cradle.I am having 5 gigafucks of fun with the Xbox One.
