Holy shit lol

I have to say, this week's Nightfall is pretty easy, especially with full fireteam. Getting to the boss was more of a hassle. Got "The Calming" legendary fusion rifle as the reward.

Queen's bounty has been great, getting the shards I want for current gear and saving some for raid stop, if/when it drops.

We've been getting wrecked. Even with powerfull solar heavys, the minators blink in too fast and their health/shields go down too slow.

I've noticed at the end of Crucible matches that sometimes I'll see something like:

"John has earned a Legendary Engram"

but this is not reflected on the endgame screen. Is this another way to get them? Do they drop somehow during the PvP matches and I've just never seen one?

You sure that "John" wasn't on the other team? You cant see the enemy rewards screen.

It's like Bungie wants people to exploit the Crucible with their fucking sniper rifles. The First Light was unplayable due to the amount of snipers there were. I just rode around on my Sparrow running assholes over.

I'm liking the look of Queen's Guard Robe on my Warlock with my Orace 99 shader. Anyone seen one of these with Intelect and Discipline? Mine has Intelect and Strength.

I guess what gets me most disappointed is that I really felt like the game was going to be 'bigger' than it turned out to be.

When I saw the concept art during the GDC video, and yes I know it was never confirmed stuff for the game and just simply concept art, my mind went crazy thinking of the areas to explore.

When you take those images and combine it with the dialogue coming from Bungie in their vidocs, it was hard not to get really excited for something big.

I had visions of landing in a huge open world, where you could go anywhere and explore. You could find random structures off in the distance. On your way over to a big, distant structure, you would encounter random batches of enemies. Maybe you would be blocked by a powerful enemy, and just before he kills you, another random more powerful player snipes him dead from off in the distance. This allows you to continue to the structure while the other guardian goes off on his way, and you think to yourself 'wow, what a legend that guy is' I started thinking this 'become legend' rhetoric was legit.

Yes, these kind of moments can happen in the game now, but on a much smaller scale. The public events are really nothing challenging, nor are they interesting. It's cool to see random guys get all worked up and come together, but the activity itself is never really satisfying.

But what really got me down was that these destinations funnel you in limited directions. When you land in a destination, you land in the same spot every time. You know exactly how many enemies will be to your right and to your left. It's the same setup every time.

Plus, and I don't mean this in a literal sense, but your options in explore mode are basically go left or right. You can't go up because you'll hit a wall. You can't go down because you'll fall off a cliff and die. If you happen to work your way around these obstacles, you'll be met with a 'turn back' notification. I can't help but think of the e3 video where the guy said 'See all this? All of this....is playable space' and there were plenty of moments were I just wanted to speed off to areas off in the distance only to hit an invisible barrier. I know you can't build worlds that go on forever, but man there are plenty of times were I just think to myself 'ugh, thats so lame' while exploring. There's also very few interesting areas hidden away. All you really get are a few caves tucked away that spawn enemies that also contain the occasional loot chest. And the structure and depth of these caves are exactly the same every time; it's total cut and paste. Beyond that, there really aren't many spots you'll get excited about discovering.

While I understand you don't just move left or right in explore mode, the idea is there are only so many places you can go. Plus, the game is basically telling you where to go anyway. Head left to pick up these missions, head right to pick up these other missions. You never really have the choice of going anywhere you want or the freedom to discover something for yourself.

My hope was that you could find tons of cool things to explore. Maybe you'll find a sweet chest in the basement of a distant structure, one that will reward a sweet gun hardly anyone else has. They'll ask you, where the heck did you find that? And your answer won't be that simple. What you discover in the actual game, though, is quite easily explained, since there rarely is a secret path to take.

It sounded so big in the beginning. There was going to be this huge, vibrant world where tons of crazy, random, and exciting things could happen. So much to see and discover. So many things that keep you coming back again and again. Instead, we already know the whole experience. You know exactly what Old Russia is. And unfortunately, the only time you'll get to see just a sliver more of it is when those 'DLC doors' open up at a later date.

I could go on and talk about the story (what story) and pvp and all that, but it's all been discussed already.

Well, just played for a while with a friend. We went to the cave a played a bunch of crucible matches.

He won two legendaries and some blues with enough light points to jump from 21 to 24 while I only went from 20 to 21 even if I had more blues than him. It all just feels so random that makes me hate it.

The fact that the levelling is tied to the gear is just awful. Makes playing for fun less interesting because in the end you might not get any rewards from it even if you do good.

I wouldn't mind not having the best gear if gear wasn't tied to progression.

Also, I haven't even done all strikes because I hated the first two so much that I'm dreading going there. The fact that I probably won't get anything interesting out of them doesn't help.

Only happens if they are on the opposite team

Hey guys, im new to this thread.

I noticed the armor and weapons refresh every 3 hours. Are the items offered random or predictable? If predictable is there a site that list what items each vendor has and what times they will sell them?

Got 3 exotic bounties to choose from? Which one should I go with?

-Shattered Memory Fragment
-A voice in the Wilderness
-Tolands Legacy

Toland gets you Bad Ju Ju(Pulse Rifle)

A Voice in the wilderness gets you Super Good Advice(Heavy Machine Gun)

Shattered Memory gets you Pocket Infinity(Fusion Rifle)

Got these in the past 2 days. The rocket launcher from the raid and the shotgun from an exotic bounty.

And the nice white shader from the Raid

Does anybody else suffer from losing connection? Every night it's the same, get within the last 2-3 minutes in a pvp match and then kicked. So annoying.

Anyone for the Weekly? I need to finish it and I have an exotic bounty that requires it so I could really use someone to help. 27 Warlock, PSN is Contramann

Good write up! I hadn't actually considered the problem of pressing square to ghost breaking up combat until you mentioned it, but thinking about it now I naturally try to prevent this by doing whatever ghost needs done with a few enemies left. That way I have something to do whilst waiting for the next wave.

Thanks!

We've been getting wrecked. Even with powerfull solar heavys, the minators blink in too fast and their health/shields go down too slow.

The group I went with did something different. I'm not sure I recommend it, but it worked for us because the leader didn't really want to use the standing on the top strategy. The idea is to kill minotaurs from the top as much as possible, but have one person watching your back for the minotaur behind you. When he comes, everyone jump down. As soon as you jump down, you can do kind of U-turn to your right. Unless you're with someone who has done this before, it's hard to see, but there's a cave you can get to by jumping on some rocks where nothing can hit you as long as you're all the way in the back of the cave, but you can peek out and shoot stuff. You'll have to deal with adds, but the way you deal with them is by ignoring them. Just make sure 2 people are ALWAYS in the back of the cave, and only one person goes up to the front to revive the person attacking. Then just swap out roles when one person runs out of ammo. It took us about 20 minutes and probably 4 ammo synthesis each, but we were never in much danger.

The main reason I don't recommend this is because if you don't find the cave quickly enough, you'll just get killed on the floor. If you decide to try again going the top route, I suggest having everyone switch to void fusion rifles or some kind of void damage weapon for the minotaur. A blast of a strong void fusion rifle will knock out his shield instantly. Void grenades work too.

That said, anyone who says this one is easy is balls crazy. The reaver captain in the 3 servitors room is ridiculous, as is the large vex room with the hobgoblins and minotaurs right before the final boss. You can try running through that last area, but 2 of the 4 times I've tried this it was a wipe, so really your best bet is to kill all of it, and those minotaurs are fucking crazy.

Just got a Legendary AR called Doctor Nope. Is it good? I'm talking mostly PVP here as I don't really use ARs in PVE. It's ROF looks insane with practically no impact but after messing around with the highly regarded Galahad/Cydonia and mostly hating them I'm still looking for the best PVP AR.

The former fired wayyyyy too slow and the other had ridiculous recoil to match it's ROF that did jack shit. I keep returning to my Shingen-C, which I've used since like level 12. It's pretty boring but using any other AR is like purposely handicapping myself.

Yeah, I just made my way to that area in the patrol mission for the guaranteed kill. Took me fucking ages to find it though, I'm completely incapable of mapping game terrain myself.
I am the same, no sense of direction lol.

I got lucky in the strikes, only had to do it 4 or 5 times, didn't know how to find the walker place in patrol.
