The upgrade system is based on breaking down legendaries.

You mean Bungie wasn't smart enough to realize people would break down the mission reward armor?

Bungie screwed up by giving guaranteed legendary drops each mission. If it were limited, we wouldn't be discussing this this.

I honestly don't think they realized the ramifications of what would happen when this went live, and that's clear by this hotfix. It's a little shocking to me that they didn't realize it considering I posted on the first day this went live that it would be a good way to grind shards. I didn't get to do it once though.

Bungie fixes exploits that were found a week after release....sounds like usual business

YOU MAD BROS? lol

You know you guys can still play the game and get this stuff, right?

I mean I'm fine with the loot cave going, but they had to reduce the drop rate of engrams too? They already don't drop much as is.

Sure, social engagement.

....WHAT SOCIAL ENGAGEMENT!? There is no chat, there is no viable way to communicate or socialize in game outside of people you know. And you know it, and Bungie knows it, and....

...what's the point of the game at this point if not for the loot?

did you read everything?

Destiny's near-term solution will be to allow players to opt-in to voice communication during matchmade activities. Work on this feature was underway at launch and should be rolled out this year in Strikes and the Crucible.

WORST BIRTHDAY EVER. THANKS A LOT BUNGIE.

This year? LOL

And what social game are they talking about? What economy?

There is none. Good to see they'll patch it in sometime. But it should've been there at launch.

Yeah, I'm done for a while. I guess this really is like an MMO at launch. You like it a lot, play it a ton, then realize the end game sucks and quit only to come back a few months later when they fix it.

Well, at least Diablo rewards me for my time lol.

EDIT: I'm upset about the ascendant shards. This event last another week and is useless to most of gaf now lol.

Yeah, but they're essentially saying "we know we fucked this up, we'll fix it eventually but for now we've removed any ways of easily getting new gear. too bad."
So them saying they designed some systems poorly and promising to address these issues is a bad thing now? I thought that's what people wanted? Bungie has responded to some of the criticisms, so now that's not good enough?

I can understand not wanting them to nerf the loot cave before tuning loot drops, but at least give them credit here.

This game just got a WHOLE lot worse.

They fix that shit without fixing the CORE PROBLEMS associated with it? And they blame it on an "economy" that does not exist?

Bungie does not understand how to fix this game at all, and it's becoming more and more clear.

Come on now, you people really thought they were going to leave the Cave exploit open?

come on now....

It's one thing to nerf it, I don't think anyone didn't see that coming. But you don't nerf something without realizing why players are doing that instead of playing your game, and then proceeding to take no action to redeem that.

While completely ignoring the issue of their loot system.

These bandaid solutions make me wonder why Activision can't just get some folks from Blizzard to step in, because damn Bungie has no idea what they're doing.

"But shooting at a black hole for hours on end isn't our dream for how Destiny is played. Our hope is that social engagement in public spaces is only one part of the Destiny experience. Expect changes soon which decrease the efficiency of cave farming and correspondingly increase engram drops from completing activities."

Bungie. How about letting me see the GAF guild members that are logged on in game. How about ingame party chat? How about anything remotely ingame that is useful to allow us to group up and talk to each other?

Good thing I held off buying the game. Rental worked just as planned.

Farewell Loot Cave. We'll miss you, you magnificent bastard.

Bungie's logic is so ass backwards it isn't funny. You'll nerf people farming engrams and you'll nerf queen bounties, yet strike playlist is still useless in comparison to public event spamming and assassination bounties. Can't queue matchmaking for weekly strikes. Can't queue matchmaking for nightfall. No ingame clans. I feel so bad for PVE enthusiasts in this game, they're getting shafted so hard lol. Maybe I'll use this as a launchpad to get my FPS skills honed until Advanced Warfare is out.

Do daily bounties and Public Events on the way = Buy purple armor.

What padding and fluff?

So instead of directly shooting 1000 enemies in the face to get some good loot, we should shoot 1000 enemies in the face except with some more running and time in menus in between? If they were forcing everyone to something that had more variety in content, I would understand, but the alternative is basically the same thing except it takes more time.

Seems like although they're going to add voice chat to matchmade missions, they won't be adding proximity chat in the tower or patrol mode, which is a damn shame. Imagine players gathering in the Tower just to chat about their accomplishments. Or someone telling you where they just found a chest while exploring the Moon. One of my biggest problems with the game.

Missions
"Reduced drop rate of engrams following a hard wipe"

What?

Queen's Wrath Event
Material rewards for dismantling Queen's Wrath gear will no longer provide ascendant materials, but missions will continue to drop Legendary items

FUCK THIS!!!

Destinations
The Hive of the holy “Treasure Cave” have realized the futility of their endless assault on Skywatch and have retired to lick their wounds and plan their next attack.

OK, now FIX your damn reward system and retire the fucking Cryptarch.

now the OT title makes no sense lol

Yeah, I just saw that part and edited my post to reflect it.

No, it's not bad that they're addressing it. That's good. I'm for that.

I'm not for them removing one significant option of getting loot in the meantime while they make the fix. If they really want to implement a quick fix to counter the cave, couldn't they rather easily increase the drop rate of items across the rest of the game?

They essentially put a roadblock in front of me trying to see more endgame stuff.

The last part of the above quote is acceptable if true. showmethereceipts.gif

So with the XP meters being full on all of my legendary gear, and no longer being able to get shards, the point of these Queen's Wrath missions is... ?

I've still got a lot of XP to fill out on the exotic weapons, but regular bounties take care of that. And everything the Queen's vendor is selling starts at 224 damage, just like the stuff we're already getting anyway. Even the cloak is lame compared to the one I bought from the speaker with motes of light. This whole thing seems like it was designed for people who just hit level 20 this week.

So did I understand this post right if I say that you are ok with this insane nerf patch now that you managed fill your own pockets with shards first? Also how it would harm game if there was multiple 29's?

It just would be more warm bodies into the VoG runs => Easier to get into PUG's.

The Queens bounty shards were icing on the cake.

I was lvl 27, one upgrade away from 28, before the Queens bounty. I broke down one piece of armor to max out my helmet, and horded the rest. I would've made it to lvl 29 regardless.

It wouldn't harm the game per se. But, I'm in the crowd who earned their way to lvl 27 and above.. No caves or exploits.. The Queens bounty would've evened the playing field for people who put in less the effort. I'm sorry but 5-6 guaranteed legendairies from these missions was bullshit. It's a grinding game, these missions kill that concept.

It's difficult to keep the chin up as a PVE guy to say the least.
