Destiny |OT5| New patch out Tues., Master Rahool reportedly crying into his robes

The overall planned changes don't seem bad. Actually they seem to be improvements for me. Improving returns on engrams and making them easier to attain by playing would go a long ways towards fixing some of the loot issues.

The only thing that gets me is that I have no reason to run the Queen's Wrath anymore. I don't agree with that change. Instead of removing it, they should have dropped the chances of ascendant materials. Now that I have the helm and chest piece, it doesn't seem like there is a reward for me doing them anymore. Or am I missing something?

Oh joy, I'm glad they took the time to hot fix any and every way of making their horrible end game grind slightly more tolerable while not fixing any of the real issues. I'm sitting halfway through 28 and it'll take me over a week at this rate to get enough shards for 29. Fuck off.

how many hours in a day does bungie think people have and are willing to dedicate to this game?

some incredible decisions. wow.

One of the most frustrating things for me. Between work, social life, and other games/media, I just don't have the time to put into Destiny to get some of these legendaries/exotics.

Found another one of the same Legendary sniper rifle I'm using now from random drop. Don't like to keep two copies of the same thing; but it's of a different element... To shard it? or to keep it...

2 exotic 10ish legendary fuckkkk me.

Ah, I wasn't considering it a per session thing. More like a toggle in the menu somewhere that is effectively "mute everyone in matchmaking?" that lasts forever. So you'd only ever have to hit it once either way. From that perspective I'd much rather it started with voice chat on for Matchmaking, just so there's a reasonable chance of RandomHunter200 in a Strike hearing me when I say not to revive me because I have 3 seconds left and there's 36 Knights on my corpse even if he or she isn't talking.

But what about when I'm in a Fireteam with friends?

It doesn't matter so much as an opt-out instead of an opt-in. Either way you have one group of people selecting an option.

They seriously had to hotfix the queen stuff?

They make an event, based around doing missions that reward guaranteed legendaries that you can do a handful of times per day every day, and didn't think that no shit everyone was going to do them and get a ton of materials?

What the fuck are they even thinking about over there? That is completely obvious and baffling. I was expecting stuff to happen to the cave, but this just makes the entire queen shit pointless unless you want to grind out rep all over again to get terrible rewards.

My interest in playing Destiny is also at an all-time low. You can't announce these sorts of changes and expect me to still pointlessly grind like an idiot in the mean time when I know I would actually be able to get something for that grinding in the future.

Just thinking about decrypting all those purple shitgrams that gave me blues and greens annoys the shit out of me. If I was a hoarding weirdo I could be reaping that shit in whenever Bungie deems worthy for the upcoming loot patch to drop.

Well I'm not going to decode any legendary engrams in the meantime...

This quote in particular is troublesome to me. Why should we play the game that Bungie wants us to play? Isn't it up to the players to play how they want to play?

This bothers me. They want us to play the game the way they want us to play it, rather than letting us play it the way we want to.

The Cryptarch statement in the developer notes is so vague and self-apologetic that I'm also not sure what to do with engrams now.
Agreed.

I didn't understand it as tweaking the actual Cryptarch rewards, but rather making it more clear that a purple engram doesn't always mean a purple item, etc. That would be nice though, and it might be worth saving them.

"But we didn't adequately communicate the potential random outcomes of decryption. Players see what looks like the familiar metaphor of item identification, while the Cryptarch thinks he's opening a grab bag of loot. Rage sharding of blues ensues. Expect to see changes to address this soon..."

Hmm now that I re-read it you're right, it's vague. Given their commitment to making the reward system frustrating and inconsistent, I will lower my expectations.

So they nerf AR's and shotties because they are too powerful over too long ranges, then they buff scout rifles so they deal more damage over right ranges, BUT they don't touch OHK Fusion Rifles that hardcounter everything from short to long mid range?

ehhh... fusion rifles require a bit of skill to use at least and are generally kind of restrictive as well. i wouldn't be surprised to see their range dialed back in the future though

meanwhile, i want to see these numbers on buffs/nerfs and when its actually going to happen

True but then again people who were playing and farmed have the chance of upgrading most of their gear, weapons and god knows what they managed to gain by farming. I think before fixing where people farm, they should fix their drops especially in Daily/Weekly strikes and Vanguard playlists as a whole. Not once have I seen even a green drop from killing a boss. It's always a triangle of nothing and some glimmer which I should mention has a cap at 25,000 and nothing worthy in the tower to spend it on.

SMH, what they did is just force the grindy nature of this game even more, to everyone.
spend your glimmer on special and heavy ammo synthesis, and keep 16k saved for blue fusion rifles if you don't have Pocket Infinity yet. They did mention improving engram drops for completing activities.

Any tried the PS3 versoin with a Dualshock 4? Does it work? I'll be playing some of the PS3 version with my friend tonight for the first time and I kinda don't want to downgrade from DS4 to DS3.

Pretty bummed that the Queen's stuff is now completely useless for me. Even if it was the first time you did it, and happened to get something you didn't want, now it's a waste.

I was excited to do another Queen's mission when I get home and complete some more bounties but now what's the point?

again it reads more like they're going to try to find a compromise between what players believed it was and what their original system for it is. once more, why would they state that changes are coming?

The location doesn't really matter. You're farming and exploiting the shitastic loot system either way.

except you're "playing" the game more. its easy to see why bungie would have a problem with it

Due to the random nature of the rewards...

There is no point in doing them anymore. A+

Someone out there who dismantled their Bad Juju or Thorn / got rid of bounty is crying

I powered through the Thorn crucible challenge despite words of discouragement from Gaf........now maybe people will want to run the strike with me so I can get the weapon

Hopefully this game ends up like Diablo 3 did

Suggestion! They should have set it up so that by completing a Queen's Wrath mission, you get a Queen's Reward Token or something...Then you can use that token to claim any of the Queen's Wrath event items. That way, people like me can get the Sniper that I wouldn't mind having, and also it prevents me from getting 5+ helmets I have zero use for (since I can't dismantle them now because fuck you).

Damn I'm angry about this, haha.
ugh

do one a day the sniper doesn't seem to be that uncommon a roll.

I think his point was, "Don't complain about them killing the loot cave, that is a positive for the game overall. Complain that they haven't fixed the loot system."

And let's be perfectly clear here, eliminating that cave is good for the game. Period, end of story. That's not up for debate. What is up for debate and is subject to the ire of those on here is the lack of a hotfix to the engram system (including the Queen's missions).

You are hereby considered my favorite person of the day. Thank you.

53hrs played. No Exotics besides my XUR gloves last weekend. Feeling the burn at not being able to find peeps to Raid with. Going to post more on RGAF before I quit the game like I did Diablo 3. Game is losing the fun portion due to the saturation of fetch requests.

Most fun though so far:
- load up http://destinypublicevents.com/
- proceed to drive all over Earth fighting as many Public Events as possible. Did that for a good 2 hrs last night. That was a blast.

thanks for the link to that site! is there a map that shows where the public events take place inside of each individual area?

Yeah, it truly makes no sense. I wonder who sits down and thinks about the ramifications of these things. We spent the whole game dissembling gear that was poor to improve our current gear. What made Bungie think we wouldn't do it for Legendaries when raid gear is better than any other legenday out there?

So for those wanting shards, the methods are:

Daily Public Events - Ascendant materials for first gold tier completion of the day and chance at additional materials each subsequent gold tier completion.
Daily/Weekly Nightfall/Heroic Strikes/Stories
Dismantle legendary/exotic gear
Purchase exotics from Xur and dismantle.
Raids

Anything else?

in general I like my striker...my defender on the otherhand.....pure ass

Say what??? I've won Rumble on my Defender Titan. They are great at capping in Control too. My friend and I are both defender titans. We have a blast when we pop our bubbles back-to-back. Only a matter of time before people start spamming Defenders in Control, etc.

But what about when I'm in a Fireteam with friends?

It doesn't matter so much as an opt-out instead of an opt-in. Either way you have one group of people selecting an option.

I figured Fireteam would continue to act exactly how it does right now with full voice chat. This option would just be if the other randoms it adds in can hear and talk. I think that is what Bungie was suggesting by saying "Destiny's near-term solution will be to allow players to opt-in to voice communication during matchmade activities."

I'd just like to see Bungie make the decision that facilitates the most communication for this game that was designed to be social, while leaving everyone the freedom to decide just how much they want to interact with randoms.

Could always grind out the bounties, which are more challenging than the crucible/vanguard ones, to slowly gain rep to eventually be able to buy... a rare weapon. What the fuck!
Why does she sell blue weapons.

Do the weapons from the queen person still break down to ascendant shards? I guess once you hit rank 2 you could spend all your useless glimmer on those.

I got a message saying it was going to reboot or something, how long does that usually take? When is it safe to go back in the game? I don't want it to reboot while I'm in the middle of something, I had that happen before and it was super annoying.

Yup. People are assuming a fix to the Cryptarch. In reality, engrams will probably be changes to say "Chance at legendary 20%, chance at Rare 60%, chance at Exotic 2%, chance at Uncommon 18%) or something along those lines. That way people won't be as upset /s.
