We're wasting our shards for no good reason? What else are we going to spend them on? There is no player driven economy in the game, so what good are they doing in your inventory?
I would like the answer to this as well. If not to upgrade gear, what should we be using Ascendant Shards on?

Nah I probably missed in the spam of butthurt going on.

It looks like you need 4 upgrades, though 2 of them are on the Queen's helm which won't require shards. So you'll need 12 shards. The first tier of upgrades in the final column on armor is only 1 light, but you'll be at 96 with the two non-shard upgrades on the helm so it doesn't really matter which two upgrades you purchase after that.

Yeah, I just got the helmet the other day so I figured that would help a little, though I didn't think it would be enough since I only had a half bar into the level. I've been cautious on dumping any materials into the final slots since I had no idea if it would be worth it.

I should clarify.

I have done all upgrades on my legendary helm and chest piece except for the last row which require shards. I have done all upgrades on my legendary boots except for the last shard upgrade (need 6 more).

I have done all upgrades on my exotic gauntlets i bought from xur, including the last row which required shards.

Yup, mine will be the same after I level the helmet and put some into the chest or legs. Works for me then. I still sorta disagree with Victrix then since it wasn't really a walk in the park to hit 28, I did need to use a solid amount of materials to max out an exotic and still need to partially invest in the end tree of a legendary.

Are we going to have a Cave Withdrawal thread? Feels like we should. Met a few cool dudes there, more than I can say for anywhere else in this game.

Why? Can't you score enough marks to buy enough Vanguard legendary pieces to hit 26?

Planning on that as well. Almost to rank 2 in FWC to get some of the gear I need. Time hasn't been on my side lately to get the marks for two pieces. I have enough for one piece of gear, and enough coins for an exotic. I just have to get the rest of my rep up and I should be good.

Well, the best place to farm now is Venus, Ishtar Commons. The area with the crashed Fallen ship. Vex on one side, Fallen on the other and they just keep on comin'... and not only that, sometimes they amp up and tons of majors and ultras come out. Aaaaah, droppin' fuckin' engrams!

That's where I was chillin' before the recently deceased cave was initially discovered. It's time to till the fields of Venus and meet other cool people again.

Are all the "defeat this guy during this strike" bounties now requiring that we take the kill shot? Just finished one on Venus and didn't get credit for the bounty.

Aaaand it begins

post #1962 will tayle u errythang

Not really. Nobody was EXPLOITING anything. The game wasn't handing out free legendaries. Nothing is being duped. There is no bug.
Playing the game in a way they didn't intend or forsee is not an exploit.

"Exploit" has a negative connotation associated with CHEATING. What happened is not cheating.

Too bad I'm not getting any messages or friend requests. I'll probably have to ask on reddit. :(

(I'm sure they're nice too)

I'd hit you up, but I'm 28.

Trust me, if I were 29, I'd be all over that opportunity. I may be 29 within the next few days, but I'm in no rush.

2 weeks of that before that gets shut down too, then people will just find the next spot until Bungie fixes the underlying problems.

The hard mode raid? Any future raids, which I presume will start at level 30 for normal mode, and be level 32 on hard mode?

That is 100% untrue, and all that it tells me is that you don't actually play very many MMOs. There are plenty of MMOs with barter-based endgame progression, where loot is actually, you know, earned - instead of being randomly assigned.

I've played MMOs for 15 years. Definitely enough to know that it's not uncommon, even in some of the most successful MMOs of all times.

I guess it's easier for Bungie to fix superficial problems rather than overhaul the ones under the hood more immediately.

As someone who has to play this solo and has gotten a total of one single legendary engram drop (that turned out to be shit) all the way up to my level 24 char, the loot nerfs hurt. Finding good gear went form damn near impossible to "Yeah, go play something else" impossible for me now.

Agreed, definitely not a walk in the park and I decided to dismantle a few items for the shards rather than hang onto them. It looks like it's gonna be awhile before I hit 29 and I'm not sure if I'll be swapping out my helm or chest piece (part of the reason I waited and haven't used shards on them yet).

I get why you referred to it in such a way, it's just that the word "exploit" brings a lot of baggage with it. It implies the player was cheating or breaking the system for their own benefit.

You should be using terms like Bungie's Error, flawed execution, or lack of planning on Bungie's part. That's more accurate to what really happened.

Thanks for explaining more eloquently than me. :)

There's an area near the starting point of the Mars Patrol where there's a Vex cave and a small Cabal base that I've gotten lucky farming.

Yeah, that venus spot was pretty much the OG farming area, infinite spawning of fallen/vex and I always saw some people over there.

I really wonder if bungie is going to eventually try and smack all of that down, because people will keep flocking to new spots until they actually make other changes.

Would this game be better or worse with an actual economy?

Worse!

But the game would benefit greatly from a trade system that had "One to One" rules.

Only allowed to trade an item for an item of the category and same classification.
Legendary for Legendary
Special Weapon for Special Weapon

That way when I get duplicates of the only two legendary weapons I have I could trade them to other to gain items that I do not have. Wow! Blew my own mind

Random question. What are the chances of getting a Destiny thread where whining about the game or attacking Bungie is ban-worthy? I mean, it's great to voice complaints and all, but this thread is becoming impossible to use for those of us actually enjoying the game because probably 60% of the reason this thread is getting an average of 10 new pages per hour is because people just want to argue. How do we get a thread where people who enjoy the game can actually just discuss it without any arguing?

Well I was going to hold off on selling to Destiny in the hope that Bungie would address concerns with the game but they chose to go after the players instead of bothering to fix the issues first. It doesn't help matters that Shadow of Mordor will likely be a better game with more unique content anyway. Maybe I'll come back when they release a version with all the DLC included

If more people are negative about the game then are positive that says more about the game then the complainers.

I wasn't aware that OTs were ment to be circle jerks of positivity

Iv been begging for a trade system since day one.

Oh boy. You want a "positive opinions only" treehouse thread. That has gone so well for other games with divisive reaction.

In my opinion, there's not enough content in the game to justify such intense grinding.

I'm on "rank" 28 with my main character, and I've been doing the exactly same things/activities, over and over again, for days. It's extremely repetitive, and the rewards are unfulfilling 95% of the time.

Honestly, I had fun with destiny in the first two weeks, but now it's like... a job. A repetitive, boring and underpaid job. I don't know, maybe it's time to resign...

I was actually thinking-- maybe we need a community forum thread?

It's not a big deal. You can believe what you want because it's not like it has a real impact on anything. I still feel like this particular scenario was considered an exploit to Bungie or else they wouldn't have removed it.

0% this is a ot people can talk about what they do and don't like about this game. If you dont want to hear it than leave. And nobody like a echo chamber.

You already have the review thread for that...
