Destiny |OT5| New patch out Tues., Master Rahool reportedly crying into his robes

For as much shit as EA/DICE deserve, they are really good about buffing other weapons rather than nerfing one particular gun.

I just really like how the AR feels right now. Then when I use a few other weapons, many of them feel clunky or frustrating to use. I'd rather they make those more fun to use rather than making the AR less fun to use.

If they must nerf the AR I'd rather they just decrease the amount of damage each shot does and balance the clip accordingly. That way the TTK would be lower while maintaining the same feel.

Nerfing the range as Bungie suggested will totally change how they feel to use.

what?

you want a written apology?

It's not about an apology, it's about an awareness of, and willingness to fix, the issues that let loot caving be not only viable, but the best option for loot in the game.

Like this?

I got that polar oak shader as reward for some mission. Makes my Titan look like a HALO Spartan

They should let loot drop from the bosses at the end of strikes (or bosses in general). That would encourage more people to play the weekly strikes, as well as not resort to cheap tactics like the loot cave.

Wait wait wait! Cave got nerfed?!

So it wasn't some strange occurrence last night with hive respawning taking minutes instead of seconds then.

I think you can get one a day getting gold level on a public event. And otherwise, it's just RNG from weekly/daily/nightfall/raid.

Ok thanks. It sounds like they should still let you get 1 Ascendant shard from breaking down that Queen's Wrath gear, at least until they fix the rest of it.

Or better yet have some of the tougher bounties give an ascendant shard. Do something to make them more reliable. I'm not worried personally since these are easy fixes. Hopefully it's done sooner rather than later though.

Or they could get more fun with it. I notice some enemies jump through the air. Kill 3 of them, get an ascendant shard. Kill X enemies in Y seconds, get an ascendant shard. There's lots of fun things they could do I'm sure.

I hope Xur has Sunbreakers again this weekend. I just need one more strange coin to afford an Exotic armor and my gauntlets are the only thing still blue.

I'll be pissed if he has sunbreakers again, same item 3 weeks in a row?

I will fucking brain him right in the middle of the tower if he has these again. I feel your pain, but good god no more Sunbreakers.

I also hope he has sunbreakers again hahaha

My friends all spent our ascendant shards on our helmets recently cuz we forgot about Xur. Now we're hoping he has anything but an exotic helmet lol

So what do you get if you break down the Queen's gear now?
Legendary tears.

Me too. It said there would be a reboot, not that the game was going to be unplayable for an undetermined length of time.
I could have sworn it said to expect disconnects for a while. I should have captured it.

3 Queen's Missions and 3 fuckin Queens Guard Helms. What in the actual fuck?
Four chest pieces and counting...

I really think Destiny needs this. Destiny needs randomly generated playspsced for content. Here's what they should do.

On Planets:
See those grand vistas you see out on the planets that are just instant death? Open them up. Make them randomly generated land that stretches on forever. How do you limit travel? Spawn harder enemies the farther you get from the actual normal locations. That way you turn that wide open space as a great challenge for friends. Just how far in the No-Man's lands can you survive? Perhaps create special loot for it.

In the Reef:
The Reef is a ship graveyard. That could mean there is special resources and loot there. Allow players to enter the Reef and randomly enter randomly generated derelict ships in search of this loot. Have the different alien factions also looking for this loot. Maybe you can earn faction rep by recovering special items for faction leaders. Maybe you can save survivors in the Reef trapped in stasis?

What do you guys think?

I like this

If they said

"Ok guys, clearly we've made some mistakes here if people would rather sit in this spot for hours for loot instead of playing our game. What does that mean? Is the game too stingy with loot? (Legendary engrams not turning into legendaries) Is the content not diverse enough? (New events just being slightly modified versions of old content) Is it the lack of communication and social encouragement if the game? Is it a combination of all three? We need to address this if this small exploit is the preferred way to play."

Instead they said "lol oh you guys (kills cave)".
I'd argue players are going to take advantage of exploits even if there are not other large issues with the reward/inventive structure. It's just human nature.

Actually, here is what they said:

The social experience of a cave farming run is amazing: the herding to get a team of Guardians all behind the line and firing in the right direction, the rush to grab the loot, the scramble when the panic wave starts, the beckoning glow from inside the cave. The speed at which the community organized around this activity was inspiring and humbling to us.

But shooting at a black hole for hours on end isn't our dream for how Destiny is played. Our hope is that social engagement in public spaces is only one part of the Destiny experience. Expect changes soon which decrease the efficiency of cave farming and correspondingly increase engram drops from completing activities.

In Hotfix 5, we made a few changes to reduce the effectiveness of a humbling number of economy exploits.
Again, in both tone and content you're projecting things that are not there.

As for your broader critique, I won't argue but I think it's unreasonable to expect changes of that scale in a hot fix two weeks after launch.

I'm expecting engrams to stop being tied to loot tier colours.

You can't keep it charged, but if you keep doing a partial charge and have reasonable reactions you can cut down the charge significantly a good portion of the time.

It gives you advantage when you keep doing that trigger spam tho and most of FR players seem to do it sooo...

The two things that spamming that trigger with a fusion rifle does are:

1. Plays mind games with the opponent since they can hear the charge.

2. Functions as a pre-fire mechanic without pre-firing. AR and MG users can do the same thing by pre-firing a corner before they come out. It doesn't happen that much in this game but it's functionally the same thing.

If you're fighting against a fusion rifle, your goal should be in trying to move unpredictably as possible because it needs to land pretty much the entire burst to kill. If you make them miss that first trigger pull and you're halfway decent with accuracy, you should be able to kill them.

I feel like I should write a letter to the Cryptarch along with some cookies and milk asking for him to bring me Suros Regime and The Helm of the Third Man down the chimney.

No one have any comments? How are Striker Titans in PVP? I love the Hunter's stealth and speed to get up close but can the Titan do it better?

I haven't played for 4 days because I couldn't but I've been reading news updates about the game

So awesome that the shit-cave has been fixed, and heard the Queen Bounties is really awesome..

The game is just getting awesome'er .. If Bungie keep on doing things like that, I think the game will be up for a re-review in few months and I'm sure the scoring will be completely different. It already became a better game since launch

But beyond even that.. there's also the precedent that it was setting. People were talking about the cave as if it gave a higher chance at getting gear. It didn't. It had the same odds as anywhere else in the game. But because a few people got good rolls from it, the idea that the cave was the best place ever for your odds was making people think that THAT is what they should do. "Don't bother playing the other parts of the game. All you have to do is stand in front of this cave shooting for 4 hours." It was poisoning the well for other players pretty badly.
Bullshit. It did have the same odds but drops are tied to the rate of enemies you kill: the number of enemies downed in a given time period. You got the most bang for your buck in front of that cave. If you did the strike playlist for an hour and I farmed the cave, it was guaranteed I'd have more drops than you. The community isn't to blame, Bungie is. You think these people would farm a cave entrance for hours if other content was more compelling and that other content gave you better and more frequent loot?

3 Queen's Missions and 3 fuckin Queens Guard Helms. What in the actual fuck?

I've done 5, got two helms and three chests. -.- I also got a purple off a blue engram after about 10 legendary engrams giving me blues, unfortunately, it was also a chest.

Game be trolling. :(
