Destiny |OT5| New patch out Tues., Master Rahool reportedly crying into his robes

They're not easy to get though, or as easy as you're making them out to be. Getting marks is a pain considering the amount you get per activity. Fastest way is to do public events and then you have to go out of your way to run around a map 'cheating' the system by knowing what's coming at what time since people have made timers.

Cheapest armor piece in vanguard is 65 marks, and you can get 1-2 per week if you go for marks exclusively sure, but destroying those only gives you 2-3 ascendant shards each time. Also you have to be level 2 in rep for armor and level 3 for weapons, which takes a time. And weapons cost like 150 marks so every 1.5 weeks if you exclusively only go for weapons which once again give you 2-3 mats per destruction. RNG legendary engrams I won't even bother with since I've gotten shit except for weapons.

And then there's Xur, who for warlocks brought the same item twice so I have yet to buy an exotic from him.

So as of right now with the current system it's a pain to get Ascendant shards, ascendant energy, and the only way to get legendaries/rare mats consistently is to do shit that takes a week for a chance at less than a handful each week.

Are we playing different games?

I got 75+ vanguard marks in the first two days by doing just the daily bounties/story missions/both weeklies. It's really easy and doesn't take long. Much more efficient than farming a cave for hours on end and I'm on my way to Vanguard rank 5 already.

Oh and spoilers: You probably shouldn't have a character completely maxed out with all the best gear and upgrades by the third week of the game being released. Doesn't make much sense for the longevity of a game like this.

You see this is why I cant have nice things. I didnt even know that the weekly night fall netted me 500 rep, i really thought i was stuck to doing just bounties and public events. BUT isnt the Nightfall mission level 24? I am barely 24. If i can play it and get through it that may be the fuel i need to keep on going. thank you.

Shit. Gotta do the nightfall mission fast.

Dude you have a campaign against the fusion rifle, lol. I'd rather face a team of FR than shotgun which is just run and shoot. Fusion rifle requires more spacing and knowledge of upcoming engagement. It's not an impulse based weapon like the shotgun.

You could say that I guess :b

I want AR to get more spread at long mid so it becomes less effective at too long distances.

I want shotty to remain same or just small tiny tad lower range so shotties like Invective aren't as potent as they are currently.

I want FR's to get severe range penalty along with AR's so they aren't OHK hard counter weapons in so wide range spread. People acting like FR's are some magic skill cannons that are balanced just baffles me.

This might be my departing post because I just feel like I'm done. It's unrelated to the cave being closed because I stopped farming a good while ago, since that shit is just degrading to your soul. It being patched does bother me however because the underlying issue remains unadressed and the only news for the future consists of a vague "we're working on it".

They act like there is an economy that needs to be checked and balanced, but there isn't. Nobody is being hurt by me being able to reach lvl 28 because I managed to complete the queens quest several times. Nobody would be hurt by me finding a good legendary auto rifle since everything is theoretically supposed to be balanced. There is no reason for the game to be as pedantic about everything as it is. It's honestly the most frustrating game I've ever played. It feels like this game actively wants to make me think about why I'm playing it, and the more I do the more I realize I don't want to anymore.

Because I've spent 3 days 12 hours 15minutes and 36 seconds playing this game and I feel like I could have stopped at 20 hours and had the same experience. I don't know why I've played this game as obsessively as I have but I shouldn't have. It's not worth it. Maybe it's because it's the first shooter with very tight controls on the ps4 but fuck me I can't deal with this progression system. I've maxed out marks and gotten up to 27, I have the shards for 28(thanks queen) but I realized gathering the materials would mean atleast several more hours of running around shooting lvl 8 dregs and opening chests. I don't enjoy doing that at all but I've spent more hours than I'd like to admit on each of the planets doing exactly that. During that time I don't think I've interacted in a socially meaningful way at all. I guess I've spent 5 minutes in between chest runs shooting at a bulletsponge with some other guys, but I'm fairly sure none of us were really into it. I've done all of the farms, grinded all of the marks and hit every unnanounced cap this game has to offer. Including the 200 marks cap, which keeps counting your marks earned despite you being unable to earn more.

I enjoy playing the harder (more bullshitty content) but there is no reward for it, and it is actually less efficient then cranking down the difficulty and blowing through everything. As an added issue I've grown tired of most of it. I run past 80% of the encounters in the pve section of the game because they are a waste of time and end up only killing the enemy I have a bounty for or the boss so I can get my marks/rep. I've done every mission so many times that I know exactly where to stand to survive 95% of all encounters unscathed. I can finish most missions/strikes while watching episodes of star trek. I rarely get off of my hoverbike before the first press square to proceed moment of every strike. Honestly I feel like a drone going through motions, chasing some sort of machinated carrot that doesn't exist.

I enjoy the pvp, I want different weapons though but unfortunately I have to grind more rep to purchase them or hope the random loot gods comply. Meanwhile I've used this legendary scout rifle for 40+ hours, I've switched in some other stuff that's less efficient to level them up but it's been pretty much that scout rifle I got when I was level 18 two weeks ago from a random blue engram. I was going to get a purple gun from the crucible dude when I hit lvl 3, (initially 2 but the mark cap put a stop to that, because that would have been too ridiculous right) but I don't want to do this same punch twenty dudes bounty again. In fact I don't want to do anything again because it's the same shit in the same toilet like some fucking looney toons version of the end of tomorrow.

I don't want to do this again because I do feel entitled. I do feel like I deserve to enjoy myself and make meaningful progress towards a goal everytime I launch a game. I do feel like I should be able to get ascendant shards in an easy to understand controllable fashion, that is not overly time consuming or ridiculously specific like running around with 3 alts at specific times to complete a public event where the same walker I shot three times previously falls from the sky. I do feel like I deserve to have a sizeable arsenal of different guns to use should it strike my fancy to do so, where each offers a meaningful difference from the previous one. What I've gotten however is 20 Shingen-E's, 50 Sidewinder shotguns, and a bunch of stuff I honestly don't care about. If you make a loot game you need a variety, if you don't have variety your loot game is dead in the water. But this is besides the point.

I'll say this again, I've spent 3 days 12 hours 15minutes and 36 seconds playing this game in the short time it's been available. But I can't anymore, I'm just fucking done. This game is a treadmill, but the goal distances are set for some arbitrary point in spacetime and you may or may not get what you want when you get there. I have a 600+ game backlog, and I'm sure 80%+ of those games will treat my time with more respect than destiny will. I'm just going to go play some of those.

My final remark is that I don't understand why they'd do this. If I burned out because I got all the legendaries and got all of the exotics I wanted I would have quit a much happier man. I probably would have returned for some more when the DLC launched. As it stands I'm just so fucking done I'm probably never returning.

All that in three days. Why are you rushing through the game in the first place? I remember doing something similar with Super Star Dust to unlock all the trophies. I ended up hating myself and the game for doing that. Just play and enjoy it instead of burning yourself out.

It kept the guy he was referring to occupied for over 3 and a half days. I usually get 15 to 20 hours out of most games. Content seems just fine if not more than the average game. Titanfall at release had a pathetically small amount of content. Destiny has plenty of content with more coming.

It's cool that you're fine with it but for the type of game destiny is trying to be it's a pitiful amount of content. Doesn't help that was is there has no variety. Oh and i do look forward to more copy pasted content unless you mean paid dlc cuz lol fuck that.

Oh look, level 25 and I still haven't found found one legendary engram or above in all my crucible matches and strikes, nor have I received any non-standard bounties. So I must continue to slog thru hours of crucible matches to get to level 2 so I can buy shit that will allow me to play what's left of the game (but hey - it seems like everyone else is pleasing the RNG and finding good stuff left and right). This piss poor design makes me consider trading the game in.

Should be leveling a faction instead of crucible.

With the faction class item you can grind faction from the patrols at a rate of hundreds per hour.

Nightfall is 28. Usually not soloable unless you have a niche build/exotics. Get 3 friends and play cautiously and they are doable within an hour or so. The coin mission is easier but still gives great rewards. I usually have the same team knock them out back-to-back.

Doing the raid once more this weekend and then Destiny is on break till Iron Banner or a great event comes along.

If anyone is looking for Titans for the Raid, I'm up for it. Level 28 Titan Defender here.

Nightfall is 28. This week's can be cheesed pretty easy though, roll with fire weapons. Most of the encounters are fairly safe or have funnel or fallback points, and just look up on how to safely kill the last boss from up top (just have one person kite the Minotaur away the whole time).

Well shit, guess its time to hang up the golden gun.

So they "fixed" that you could dismantle the items from the Queen stuff for shards. This basically means the event just became pointless for me.

Some of the future changes sound God but they might not be sweeping enough . Also all the special events need matchmaking.

Even if you got a guaranteed legendary every hour, or hell, even two every hour, you would be unlikely to be decked out in the best gear after weeks. This is because true BiS would have perfect modifier and stat rolls. Having a full set of legendary gear in a week or two is nothing. That's the start. It's getting BETTER legendaries etc that's the goal for people like myself. Problem is, the loot system doesn't support this, even though the item design does. A legendary weapon has thousands of possible variations. You could get a version of a weapon you like every hour and still possibly come across better ones after a week =p

Unfortunately... they'd rather just almost never give you even the mediocre versions lol.

Edit: This design choice makes it so that people that would normally spend weeks or months farming for loot, are instead deterred from even playing because they're just told to come back next week for the raid and nightfall. It's really odd.

On the bright side, the Cryptarch actually gave me a Legendary item for a Legendary engram after ranking him up... Am shocked

You mean if this were any other shooter you would've already stopped playing?
I don't mean that at all. As of now the loot system is a mess. Don't get me wrong, the game is fun and for some that's all you virtually need to continue to playing. But when it comes to wanting to progress and level up your gear in a game such as this, trying to grind for materials is unrewarding with how random everything is. I think the Queen mission is a perfect example of this. I don't think they had to patch it to where we don't get any shards at all but simply lower the amount to 1 or 2. The missions weren't level 2 stuff, they were fairly challenging and it wasn't like we were getting spoon fed.

I sense the same trajectory as my Candy Crush career:

Level 1 - wtf is going on
Level 5 - hey this is cool I like the sounds and music
Level 10 - I'm really good at this game
Level 20 - ok that was hard, but I did it. Not sure how though.
Level 40 - soo close! should I pay for a continue token
Level 60 - why am I stuck at this level, it looks like every other level
Level 80 - why am I playing
Level 100 - god this supermarket queue is taking for ever
Level 120 - I saw someone at level 150, I'll quit then
Level 140 - SCREW THIS I'm a rat pulling levers for dopamine shots, should have quit at level 20. *delete*
I'm at level 245... use my 5 day lifes waiting the bus :D

And I like it... seems like a more diversity Tetris.

About Destiny when people start to quit the new expansion will come.

So the cave is seriously patched out? I'm glad I got my grinding in then. All I'm missing is an exotic piece for my titan anyway, so I'll just buy everything else, if I have to.

However, shutting down the cave is stupid if they don't change the conversion rate on engram decryption. The only reason grinding is a thing is because you can't rely on regular drops to get your light level up. If purple engrams continue to convert into blues at a 75+% rate, and you can't farm them reliably, then that's just a big turd sandwich Bungie is serving. If purples turned purple reliably, there wouldn't be much issue with me. However, the conversion rate is shit, and necessitates farming.

It's okay, I guess. I'll probably go back to farming the nexus or the first moon mission, if the system isn't fixed. Patching a workaround before fixing the underlying system is BOGUS. PEACE.

Dat carry tho

I said this before and I'll say it again, maxing out a character has nothing to do with the amount of time since the game released. It has to do with the amount of content in the game.

You can't artificially lengthen the playtime of a game just because you think it should take people longer to reach max level. And besides, even with the "shortcuts" in the game, it took someone over 100hrs to reach level 30, and they obviously had to do the raid. What exactly is the problem with that?

Should I not expect enjoyment from a game I'm playing?

Or rather

ITT: People who want to have fun.

Maybe, a thought, but maybe instead of bitching and dumping salt on your keyboard you should play the game. Maybe, again, a thought, maybe instead of people screaming "BUNGIE WHY YOU PATCH OUT CAVE AND NOT FIX LOOT DROPS" people should exhibit some amount of patience, I mean, considering they said they're working on it. Oh no, instead lets all just go in the OT on GAF and whine and bitch and moan about how I WANT THIS NOW WAH WAH WAH WAH.

You want to enjoy the game you bought? Play the fucking game. You stop enjoying it? Stop playing it. Wait for them to address your issues, like they said they are going to. Smashing your head on keyboard in here and expecting some magical Bungie faerie to come down and make everything all better for you isn't going to happen.

Seems like you're the one who needs to check their salt levels.

It's a public forum and people are expressing their issues with the game.

Is there anyway a Titan can match the speed/agility of a hunter?

I remember reading someone's post where they showed it was possible and they detailed how to do it, but I never did because it would have meant sacrificing my survivability.

I don't know the specifics. I've played a hunter in beta, but chose Titan for live. I know that with tree talents, the striker can get really close to maxed out agility, but yea, you gotta sacrifice pretty much all of your recovery.

I'm not fussed about nerfing the loot cave but this

Makes me fucking angry.

It isn't THEIR dream so who gives a shit about the players who actually do like it as part of their game? They are happy to patch a nerf into the game without actually doing anything to address why people were doing the farm in the first place.

Chuck a line in there about how it breaks their system or something, not that you are humbled people went to the effort of trying to get more enjoyment out of your game so it's time to nerf it.

I wonder if this will also lower engram drop rates for times when you run into mobs of enemies, unless they are coding it specifically for that one cave (in which case why the hell is there a future promise of higher drop rates in "competing activities" rather than doing it at the same time).

I was hoping for more positive improvements by Bungie, everything so far has been nerfs. Which is incredibly disapointing.
The cave was one of the few things organic about this game and they can't have that. It's the invisible walls mentality applied to everything. Not experiencing our mediocre game as intended? Well, that's your fault.

You need to take a chill pill. Maybe you need a break if you're getting so worked up about people typing their complaints up in the OT of the game.

The biggest problem many are having is that they opted to take out the things that are currently serving as pseudo-fixes for their fuck-ups, before fixing said fuck-ups.

"Oh yeah, we're going to do something about the loot. Sometime later. Probably by the end of the year. In the meantime, we're going to take away the things you're doing because we messed up. So, I dunno, have fun with that."

Frankly, I cut back on my farming in the first place because the loot system is just... bad... even with the loot cave. So it doesn't really affect me. But I absolutely see where people are coming from.

Will squad play ever be incorporated into this game? I just want to play heroic with people from a squad, bungie wtfffszz

looking for someone to play heroic with. psn: dork_leader
