FYI to anyone hoarding legendaries: it might still be worth it to hoard them. In the 1.02 patch they will be made into blues, but they are also increasing the chances of blues to drop legendary items. Hell, you'd probably have better luck after the patch.

still exists, as vanguard playlist only has added the possibility you can get legendary engrams plus what they already have, not to mention crucible and the fact you can get armor from another class.

So RNGesus is weaker.

But I'm agnostic so that's good. I don't inherently deny the possibility of RNGesus, I just need proof.

Although I should say, First Solar System Problems, I know everyone will largely agree this is a completely positive change, but this might ruin progression a little bit for me. Essentially, all my characters (even the ones that don't really exist yet) are now level 26+ and have legendary weapons or better in every slot.

I don't think it'll make the game less enjoyable for me exactly. I certainly won't feel like I've accomplished anything at all until Hawkmoon is mine.

My issue with RNGesus was not how to get the Engram but the fact a Purple Engram give me a blue gear.

Purple giving Purple or Gold (even if gold if 1%) is fine.

Even so, I doubt that the new legendary drops from rare engrams could possibly be better than the current legendary drops from legendary engrams. Rares are probably going from 1% to 2% legendary chance, and current legendaries are probably 5% legendary chance. I'd think it's still in your favor to use up legendary engrams before they convert.

Did you miss the part where all pre-patch legendary engrams are getting demoted to blues?
 
Seriously though. Fill up your entire vault with blue engrams before the patch. Increased chance it's a legendary once the patch goes live. Also once the patych goes live and you decrypt all those blues, you'll probably level up the cryptarch a couple of times. And there's a decent chance you'll get legendary engrams from that which are actual guaranteed legendaries, acendant materials, or an exotic.

Obviously I did. I'm at work still.

I'm just going to go on as planned then, buy a Gifted Blessing and decode and record the rates, just out of curiosity.

So when's the patch? :)

Really happy with how they're handling this.

You know it only work for Purple Engrams received after the patch... all these you have works in the old RNGesus way lol

Just Purple Item Engrams.

Purple Gears Engrams before got before patch will be random and the ones get after the patch will give only Purple or Gold.
