Leveling him up gets you decent rewards. But it is beyond silly that he never has the occasional blue to sell.

Wow, got the bounty for the exotic shotgun invective. Finished the whole thing in 4 hours. Pretty easy compared to the bad juju one.

No, since all Legendaries will be demoted to Rares anyway.

But I haven't obtained the rewards yet. The rewards could be rare or legendary. Right now it technically isn't an engram, so it shouldn't demote with the patch.

Is that stuff even affected? I thought the current items were unaffected or guaranteed to go lower.

I booted up the game to see I was still 1 strange coin short of an exotic. Totally thought I had 13 of them. Also only have 22 motes of light. I won't have a lot of time to play so it looks like I'm screwed anyways. Too bad. :/ Why do they keep moving Xur around? Whats the point?

I don't think it is affected due to not technically being an engram yet.

Can someone post the patch notes? I'm stuck at work for a few more hours doing fucking inventory.

The 1.0.2 patch will go live next week, and includes several changes to the Cryptarch and Engram experience. These changes guarantee that Engrams will always decode into items at or above the quality of an engram.

Only Engrams that drop after 1.0.2 are subject to this change.

Cryptarch Changes
Cayde-6 took the Cryptarch aside and showed him a sack of doorknobs. He decoded that mystery pretty quickly.
Legendary Engrams will always produce Legendary or better quality items, including Materials or Exotics
Rare Engrams will always produce Rare or better quality items
Rare engrams will have an increased chance to produce Legendary quality items

Activity Changes
Daily Heroics, Weekly Heroics, and Vanguard: Tiger Playlist activities will include Rare and Legendary Engrams in addition to their existing rewards

Item Changes
Ascendant materials have been promoted to Legendary to closer associate them with the gear they are used to upgrade
Legendary Engram items that exist in your inventory will be demoted to Rare quality when the patch goes live, so decode them while you can. But let’s be honest--even if you don’t, we all know they were blues already...

I hate the lack of loot tables with this game. After completing the Weekly Heroic, Nightfall and Raid for the week, I feel like I've exhausted the game's content.
There's nothing to work towards, be it an upgrade or simply a vanity item like a new Cloak or Shader. PvP doesn't feel so tight that I want to keep playing it just for entertainment. All I really want from a Bungie shooter when it comes to competitive multiplayer is CTF with vehicles.
Blood Gulch.

And as much as I like portions of the game, mainly the gunplay, I don't really feel like biting on a season pass to access a new Raid. If that's what it comes down to. Unless it's something crazy and new.

of fucking course they do that AFTER I decrypt mine because I thought Bungie wouldn't do shit seeing how quit they've been about it.

Edit: Nvm. Post one or two after that said that Legendaries will become rares anyway so I guess it doesn't matter. #yolo

I would imagine that the drop rate is still the same. It's just that the engram correctly represents what to expect when you decrypt it. That's also why they are demoting current engrams if you don't decrypt them before the patch. So in other words, currently you would get 4 legendary engrams. It would decrypt to 3 rares and 1 legendary. So now instead of that, you'll just get 3 rare engrams and 1 legendary engram.

I havent played the raid or watched any vids on it. I want the full monty. Guess Im just old school.
Best way to experience the raid, ive carried a few friends through and their experience wasn't nearly as positive because it was just my team telling then what to do. Not discovering it for themselves.

Same here, I'm loving Suros for PVE. Plus, I like the sound it makes when it fires off rounds. But, I keep my Shadow Price handy against other guardians.

Suros is a beast from the hip and great for long range. I find it's one of the better weapons I've ever used in pvp.

I'm sooo digging the changes to engrams. Thx Bungie

You only get the coins from the strike once a week.

If you got the coins from a easier difficulty prior, you are SOL until the next week.

That's not accurate! I've even seen it show the adjusted rewards on the mission start screen.

edit: Yeah I was slightly wrong before though- it'd be; run the 24, get 3, run the 26, get 3/or run the 24, get 3, run the 28, get 6.

...it just shows the rewards on the screen before you run it, that's the easiest way tocheck.

soon....

I appreciate that, sincerely. Kinda surreal.

I did the same to some of my own local friends at Bungie, they're all in different depts. So far they're digging them as well. Perhaps they'll bring it up with the community team at one of their upcoming meetings.

Great work, Hawkian.

Watching this YouTube video of a Hunter using the Suros Regime with the slower ADS rate of fire seems to indicate you can easily out gun someone else from medium to longer ranges and still have half of your clip left.

Are people who bought the gun today and taken the RoF evolution still not happy with it? It seems like a win-win. Slower RoF for more consistent yet more powerful head shots and better ammo conservation.

I don't like the incoming patch. They should have changed cryptarch percentages and engram drop rates, not completely removed the risk of a legendary engram turning into a blue. That's the kind of thing that makes things interesting imo.

Agreed. But we'll see how it affects things, overall.

Thank you so, so much.

I'm going to include a cute little section in Part 3 based on the new news about the engram patch! I'd love an "it's raining engrams" gif if anyone wants to contribute that XD
So I still have a chance to do the strike on a lesser difficulty and still get strange coins ?
which have you done?

Pringles, I actually agree with you. I wish they'd just communicated visually what "legendary engrams" really were from the start rather than sort of full-on caving to the psychological impact of Diablo-style loot. It's not going to affect things negatively though. People will still need to understand that engrams aren't the best or primary source of gearing up even with these buffs!

It only works the other way around.

The max you can earn is 9 coins for the Hardest difficulty. If you do Level 26 and get 6 coins, then you do Level 24, you will get no additional coins. However if you do Level 26 and get 6 coins, then you do Level 28, you'll get 3 additional coins.

There's no way to get more than 9 coins per week total.

But Bungie has a habit of bending to the will of the most vocal players, and often it's not for the best.

There is nothing interesting about a very rare item becoming useless garbage. Interesting is having weapons with large stat variations, different perks, and other elemental affinities that will encourage you to rethink how you are currently geared. They do a little bit of that now but I'd love to see a lot more of it so that even if two people have the exact same weapon, it could be completely different.
