Voguing battles are sick af

Ugh, that was awful.

Anytime someone sends me a link to a video and says "this is sick!", it is almost always guaranteed to be cringeworthy. This is almost as bad as that time my friend sent me a video of the "sick" Techno Viking.

Watching these people makes my dodgy knee hurt, I don't know why they are doing this but I am very impressed with their ability to do it.

What in the world does this have to do with high fashion? Unless you're using the word "fashion" in substitute for homosexuality.

No I am not. I find the runway fashion culture fucking ridiculous and shallow. I hate how people in the industry act as if they have a tangible impact on the world outside of their bubble. It doesn't matter.

Edit: For the record I have no issue with gays, at all. Just because someone thinks somethin some gay people happen to do (with other straight people too I bet) doesn't mean one hates gay people, lol.
...what does this have to do with the fashion world? You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.
When it comes to voguing, no. I don't know anything other than whenever I've seen that top model show with my wife, all of them vogue around like little idiots. I really don't care to know more.

Hey look if people like this, good for them. I personally think it is as stupid as you think I am stupid for saying it's stupid.

Soon.... soon...

Is that suppose to be Chun-Li ?

FYI, runway walking a.k.a catwalk is not voguing.

You're still associating this to fashion and runways?

Eh, they're spamming it. A lot of these videos are from a semi-amateur competition.

Within vogue, the death drop is one of the showiest moves you can do, and it's the most difficult of the "modern" vogue moveset. Even sloppy death drops are hard to pull off (my knees ache just looking at them), but you get more props the more pronounced your knee bend is, and the flatter you land on the ground. Look at the video I posted of Deshaun to see pretty much perfect death drops. Flat as a board every time.

Obviously, seeing as it's the "big move" in vogue, you have a lot of amateurs who spam the shit out of it.

There are also forms of vogue that don't really incorporate death drops. From the same competition, here's the final of the New Way style (which involves more precise movement, poses, and extreme displays of flexibility) between Voodoo and Karina Ninja. No death drops here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCDWMX_Gu6Y

Also? The girl who wins that (Voodoo) looks like she's barely 12 and doesn't even break a sweat.

Thanks. That's a better answer than what I found on google. After watching a few more videos I'm starting to see the dividing line between the amateur flailing and more refined moves. My horizons have been expanded.

Honey you are being so i g n o r a n t.

You're still associating this to fashion and runways?

Are you denying that voguing is tied to, or at minimum closely associated with the fashion industry?

Anyway I just think it looks dumb. Not really worth arguing over it is there?

I am sure I like things you think are dumb. It's not like our opinions actually hold any real meaning.

This is very true and you are very, very correct. Up until ten minutes ago I did believe it was a fashion thing.

lol it's blatantly obvious a lot of the hate towards voguing are straight mean lashing out in insecurity.

Try to be subtle at least so it's not as embarrassing.

You're entitled to your opinion, but your first post erroneously conflates two things that really have no modern correlation other than name association. Everyone's jumping on you because your rant about high fashion is completely non-sensical in context.

are you stupid
Google search what is voguing said:
Inspired by Vogue magazine, voguing is characterized by model-like poses integrated with angular, linear, and rigid arm, leg, and body movements.

I guess so?
No I am really. When it comes to the history of voguing I am very, extremely stupid... Apparently.

For real?
Can't people not like something because they think it looks stupid?
Do people who hate sports, hate it because they are secretly selfhating their athletic inability?
I mean really, come on.

Nice try.

Did you bother reading the very next sentence and the one following that?

This style of dance arose from Harlem ballrooms by African Americans and Latino Americans in the early 1960s. It was originally called "presentation" and later "performance".

Certain styles of vogue evolved into a sort of "mockery" of the fashion scene by exaggerating how models had to quickly jump from one pose to another between shots during photoshoots. But vogue existed before that and is comprised of many other influences.

Hmm, the more you know.

To be fair I can understand how one would be confused. But to clarify. Voguing was created by Madonna and then it blew up from there. It's been appropriated by African Americans as of late though (this is totally a good thing, no shade no shade!).

I'm sorry.

Do you realize how many people actually believe that though? Madonna, ha damaging appropriation strikes again. Vile.

I posted the association that I was aware of when I made my first post. I'd bet a majority of people think voguing is associated to modeling.
You can't expect someone who is ignorant of the deeper history to have a greater understanding than the very basic a passing glance affords can you?

But now I know different.

I got introduced to Vogue dance through an unlikely source, and that is Bust a Groove. In that game, Robo-Z does Vogue and well...I was entranced by it when I saw it. This is the best example I could find-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdGwK5YdIYE (warning, flashes of colors/lights in the latter half)

But I was always interested in learning it. Never did, but I can still appreciate it. I'm enjoying the videos you guys are posting!

Honestly the videos probably would be better if the weedman wasn't yelling into the mic the entire time.

NAWT the weedman! lsajvb;dslkn;ondv;oknfv

Actually, the weedman is "chanting" and it's a very important component of the competitive drag scene. Dancers not only have to keep in time with the beat that's playing, but they also have to keep in time with MC. You can memorize a beat, but you can never really know what's going to come out of the MC's mouth. lol
