Destiny |OT5| New patch out Tues., Master Rahool reportedly crying into his robes

Patrols are shit.

In fact, people should pm Deej just with that simple message.

Every time I need to do patrol missions for a bounty and get one of those that make me ride my sparrow a hundred miles across Egypt to scan something, I want to strangle something mercilessly.

Personally I find the shooting in this game to be a really strong component. The visual and audio feedback and general feel make it fun to just shoot things. And while I think the PVP is an imbalanced mess, I'm still having fun with it (though it helps that I can go positive to 2+ KDR in the majority of my games)

It's all the stuff that surrounds the core of the game that I am just not feeling and has me struggling to log in.

There's marks to accumulate weekly, but until the Tuesday patch, I don't find Vanguard Tiger (or whatever the 24 one was) to be rewarding enough to spam, doubly so given my opinions on the game's current Strikes being bulletsponge borefests. My other option is to farm Public Events but I have zero interest in roaming around the barren open world waiting around for timers to pop. Crucible marks are whatever; I already said I enjoyed PVP so I can just let that accumulate in the background.

The game wants you to play daily but bounties and the daily heroic just doesn't do it for me. The lack of a true main city and player interaction has reduced the Tower to just be a bunch of service NPCs and vendors. There's no "living world" where it feels like you can pass the time just being social in the Tower, which IMO is a good reason to log in daily on top of the daily activities themselves.

There's material farming much like in other MMOs, but MMOs usually give me an option to get around this by just buying them off the auction house. Here, I have to partake in farming runs to get past 25. There's an argument to be made for doing it while hunting for Public Events or running Patrols but I honestly find the open world so poorly designed that I'm not compelled to engage with it. Of course, I stuck with Spirit Bloom and Helium Filament farming enough to get to 28 so I can comfortably do Nightfall and the raid but it just wasn't a good time lol.

I suppose the tldr version is that the shooting is good enough to make most of the game's activities bearable, but looking back the activities themselves feel pretty empty and have me questioning if I should do it again the next day or week. Of course this is all my opinion and I don't expect my logic to be sound or reasonable but yeah. And if it sounds like I want the game to slant more heavily into the MMO side, that's probably true too. Destiny has such a strong core to it but a lot of the parts surrounding it just don't work well.

I hate online shooter PvP and I want Bungie to stop forcing me to do PvP to complete these exotic weapon bounties. I don't find trying to get good with a sub-1 K/D while people who have literally been playing Halo their entire lives until their current age of 15 farm kills from me.

Once I complete the raid I'll probably cut back play to just doing the raid once a week because fuck PvP and fuck Bungie for trying to force me to do it. They need to fix that shit because I don't find dying over and over in PvP fun and trying to force me to do it the antithesis of fun in a game where you can otherwise choose to do PvE or PvP and the rewards are the same for both.

i love the suros but also love the idea of using the last word... i just don't think i could output the same damage in a raid with the hand cannon as i can with the suros =/

Hand cannons in the Raid are cash money.

Hand cannons in all pve are cash money.

Hand cannons are cash money, period.

So dont pick those? The icon above the blinking light is a symbol for the type of mission. I only choose the 2 kinds that involve killing enemies, never the scout/explore ones.

game is pretty doable without msging or voice. i've had a good time not even talking to anyone. they probably hate me for it tho.

this was so laughably easy. you can just join any PvP and it'll fill up. I got it it in a few matches.

it doesnt have to be in one match? i usually get a good k/d ratio, but nowhere near 25

EDIT: Thanks everyone that sounds much easier

How many shitty pulse and scout rifles can I get in a day. Lvl 24 light and I have not gotten one Legendary drop or reward. The fact that some get them over and over means the loot system is fucked. To many days where you grind all day for no reason. You should have some forward movement if you put a day in.

While I agree with this, I can also say that I'd still be level 24 if I didn't do both the Crucible and Vanguard bounties. Get to Rep 2. That is in your control, unlike the drops.

Annoying to hear, a slog, not great design, but true.

Pro Tip: Bring up your ghost, then hold the button to abandon those missions, because fuck those missions across the board. Materials gathering, general villain killin', and target elimination are where it's at. No need at all to put up with anything that requires you to travel just to scan a site.

Don't know I'd you know but when you look at the patrol markers with your ghost out they show up with icons over them that say what kind of patrol mission it is. Triangle ones are kill to pick up an item, the ones that look like ghost are scan missions and they're others. Check the area first, do the collect ones before picking up a scan one since the scan ones send you to a different area of the planet where you might find more quests

So only engrams collected after the patch will definitely be legendary or above?

I just got a legendary engram. Wondering if I should wait or not.

Yeah, it's worth figuring out what each icon means.

Do the ones with stars (25 reputation), the ones with two triangles (gathering i.e kill stuff) and the one with an exploded square or something (kill enemies in the area). The latter two don't require you to leave the area you're in. The former is just worth doing for the extra rep.

I pretty much always abandon them unless there is nothing left in the area, but damn, it's like they are only type available around me sometimes.

Go back to orbit and refresh them? That's what I do.

The loading screens are such a huge time waster it's better to just ride over to a new section, to be honest.

Wow. I got a legendary Engram for the last blue slot on my Warlock... and it turned into exactly what I was going to buy from the Vanguard . Thanks Rahool!

Only Rumble, I think.

Ah damn, that's too bad. I kinda wanted every mode to be playable on every map. :(
Larger maps could be made into smaller ones for the 6 player games by closing of sections.

Hate to bring this up but the other destiny threads are really depressing to read.
So much ignorance, misinformation and sometimes plain stupidity being spouted by some posters...
Sometimes makes me wonder why I keep visiting here. :-/
Glad the mods are keeping this one clean though. Seriously, thanks for that.

So regarding the raid, does doing it on hard after beating it on normal count as a different instance regarding chests and stuff?

After clearing it last night...getting 0 raid gear kiiiiinda sucks, and it would be stupid of me now to start dumping materials into my legendary gear when I'm already 28 and capable of beating it. Kinda feel like I hit a dead end and don't really care to do much else.

Everything about patrols is dreadful. The mission design in general in this game is just abysmal/non-existent. Whoever is responsible for the core mechanics should get a massive raise at Bungie, because they're the saving grace of this game.

I feel like at the very least, on patrols the levels of the enemies should adjust to yours. Fighting off level 4 fallen on Earth when I'm level 28 is just moronic. Just as it is moronic that you get the same amount of glimmer/XP/RNG no matter the level of the enemy. Why, man?

Speaking of

Fack, died and I only needed 1k more xp fore the 9k bounty.

Will try again tomorrow now, sleepy.

Run around Earth patrols for that crap, because it won't matter what level an enemy is.

Imagine if they could find a way to implement some sort of looking for group or match making for raids, in game, instead of needing to use an outside third party website. I bet that'd be really useful.
Yeah, it'd be cool if they could make you match up with players around your own level. You could indicate that you want players who are near you, players that speak your own language(s), players that are near your skill level, players that have mics, etc. They could call it matchmaking.

Core gameplay rocks. Mission design is an absolute failure. I dunno how they could make the game fun to play but so boring to play through.

Rahool has been quite generous lately. He knows his time is up. He knows!

I legit found 3 engrams yesterday. One of those was in a chest with 10 relic iron. Shit was crazy. All of them turned out to be blues. Rahool is still my boy though. Have Thunderlord and Patience and Time.

Looking for five people on xbox one to do the Raid Hard mode tonight, probably around 10 pm central.

Im a level 28 hunter, and I've already completed the normal raid twice. Im just really looking to get that vex Mythoclast.
