A little off topic, but can someone please explain to me Destiny's equivalence to launch Diablo 3? What was wrong with it and how did Blizzard fix it?

Blizzard took a year to fix it but they revamped the legendary loots to make them more rewarding, reworked the difficulties, and killed off the AH which was, at that point, the only way to get good gear.

I'm having a hard time countering a few attacks in the crucible

-I keep getting destroyed by what I think is a hunter super, the kill icon looks kind of like a knife/lightning bolt, usually happens so fast there is zero time to react but sometimes I see a guy jumping around killing teamates and am kinda sitting waiting for my turn to die while shooting wildly.
here are some tips: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=131475947&postcount=16744
-Big bubble shield, how does it work? Can I run inside and attack or do I just need to run away?
I don't recommend it. You CAN run inside and melee (not shoot) but if the Defender is good, that's exactly what he wants.
-From time to time I see guys with a blue bar on their health, im assuming this is a shield? Is there a good way to take it out quickly or is it best to wait until its gone?
Stay away. They have no limitations on how long it takes them to kill you, while it takes you twice as long to kill them. Survive til it's gone is your best bet.

They aren't comparable; Diablo 3's launch was marked by rampant (affecting the average user's ability to play at all) connection/network errors and its gameplay largely broken by an auction house that allowed you to purchase upgrades better than anything you could possibly find, and, shortly after, even buy such items with real-world currency

Its loot tables and distribution were reworked, as were difficulty options, and the Auction Houses were removed completely. apparently this made it much better, though the sour taste never left my mouth and I haven't returned yet.

Destiny's core systems are way more solid than it was at launch and no such overhaul is necessary. people are clamoring for more content and that it is indeed what it needs most, but tuesday's patch will fix the most pressing issues that plagued its core systems in one swoop.

Basically solo'd the Nightfall and had the boss down to half health when someone joined. Man, this is the easiest nightfall to solo if you're a Sunsinger Warlock. Only took 15 minutes total (the last 5 being with a friend).

Does anyone know if you do the Nightfall again if you still get good rewards like legendaries/exotics? I'm sure you don't get the rep, but if you still get stuff at the end it should be worth doing.

That's the Hunters' "Bladedancer" super. If someone pops that super near you you can either run and hope they chase you or try and kill them while their back is turned. They have way more health than normal in Bladedancer mode so...yeah.

-Big bubble shield, how does it work? Can I run inside and attack or do I just need to run away?

The bubble shield is dropped by Titans and gives an over-shield to anyone inside. It can also give a buff to weapon damage to any teammates who run in. Don't run inside unless your pretty confident in your shotgun abilities because dudes who have that over-shield are that much harder to kill.

When I see a bubble shield? I just stay away from it until it's gone unless I am desperate to capture the point it's over or something.

-From time to time I see guys with a blue bar on their health, im assuming this is a shield? Is there a good way to take it out quickly or is it best to wait until its gone?

Over shield. I want until it is gone usually.

Jeez, the best thing I got from the crucible is a purple engram.
I've been really lucky. I got Hard Light, Suros Regime, and Gjallarhorn just from the Crucible. Got Universal Remote from a purple engram from Crucible, too. Then I got Bad Juju from a bounty, and bought two exotic hunter helmets from Xur.

rollin' in the exotics :-D :-D

Hey if you can solo nightfall, wanna help me out with it? XD

Loot wasn't fun. Difficulty was way too hard and dry.

People felt that Diablo's loot system at launch was borked, and that it was somewhat thin on post/end-game content.

So given those facts - and the current changes - has Diablo 3 become a considerably better game? Basically, Bungie has the chance to turn things around for the better in a measurable manner.

Need to get 6 more ascendant shards then I'll have all 3 of my characters to 28.
holy shit. that's intense.

I swear to you, they're not comparable. bungie has the chance to "turn things around" in the sense that they can rectify certain issues with the game and add content to keep people coming back, but neither of these are actually on the order of or in the same vein as what was wrong with Diablo 3 at launch.

Whoever watched my stream, was a few of ya', hope ya learned the route and locations for materials

Best Material to grab is Helium, then Spinmetal, then Spirit Bloom, last is Relic Iron due to frequency/location, pop rate

I don't think I'm ever going to level up past 28 at this point.
well, sure you will if you keep playing :P did you see my third guide?

raid, do your daily heroic story, daily public event and weekly nightfall and break down any legendaries/exotics you won't use, and you'll get there.
Better get it upgraded for Tues! I'm upgrading that raid scout just for that run. Want to get the oracle bonus upgrade finished by then.
we have a prediction as to what the weekly strike is?

I feel bad for all the people that are lvl 26+ and havent been able to do the raid yet :( Most fun part of the game IMO. I've been asked a bunch on PSN to help people through the raid but so far I've declined. Think I may stop declining and fill in spots since I know getting a group of 6 can be tough. Factor in the raid can take a while and some people have to bail before it's even over adds that extra element of difficulty since your back looking for someone else to fill in.

If anyone needs an extra for the Raid on XB1 just message or invite me.

GT: RespectThySole

Level 28 Warlock Sunsinger/Voidwalker fully leveled

I'm down for Nightfall as well.

Where do you get them?

Can get them from packages from public events once a day, daily story quest as well as raids/nightfall rewards.

I was hoping to try it this weekend, but the PSN issues kind of made it more difficult than usual. That and my connection going to shit too often :(

Same here - not until I get some raid armor and can go straight to 30.

Ah okay. I obviously never played Diablo 3, but noticed many talking about it. I'm excited to see what Bungie will release for free and updates they have in the future.

Already on it and it's pretty much done. I better get some raid armor this go around. If I end up just getting shards again...controllers will be lightly thrown.

I'm excited too. I have an idea of what they may be going for and while I don't want to get my hopes up I am cautiously optimistic.

See mini-goal 5: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?p=131961119&highlight=gunning+for+you#post131961119
They've been in order unlocked so far, so, Winter's Run would be next.
That's a very good point...

Yea PSN really shit the bed this weekend and groups that were able to find 6 people couldnt even do it... Hopefully with the free PSN weekend ending it'll be better tomorrow.

Bungie said any purple engrams that aren't used by the patch will be demoted to blue rewards. Trying to guess whether or not I should accept my 2 cryptarch rewards after the patch. Any word if these will be affected?

What are your ideas?

I have a reward sitting in my postmaster. Wish we knew if those engrams were going to be touched.

By the way, did you ever play Gunbound? I played with a dude that had the same name lol.

I was talking about the raid run after the reset but yeah the nightfall/weekly should be the archon priest.

It's going to be awkward that week that ps4 has the 2nd Mars strike in rotation as the NF/weekly and us lowly xboners reset to the earth strike. lol

Your tips list tells people to either panic super or shoot the enemy arc blader. Those aren't really counters...

What? Shoot that guy is always a valid counter to everything. If you're losing to it you're just not shooting that guy well enough.

Actual counter to Arc Blade is run away until it times out. If you shoot and run backwards they will catch up to you and kil you unless you've got a heavy wep, very good at head shots or have a high damage weapon/they are low on life. Better to run and wear them down.

I was just thinking how much I hate that strike and how we would probably have to do it for Nightfall on Tuesday.

My prediction for the next weekly strike will probably be Winter's Run, they've kinda been going in order. Unless they skip it and go straight to Mars.

Not all supers are counters to arc blade. Some are, and of course they are really counters.

Shooting the bladedancer is not always a viable option but it is with some guns. I also try to describe the way to try and react psychologically. I still see people freaking out and giving me easy kills sometimes, but twice within my last 10 matches I've also been killed with 0 kills of my own while in arc blade. some players do know what to do.

It's a super. Expect it to kill you. Unlike the oneshots from nova bomb and fist of havoc you can, occasionally, outplay it and force it to be wasted.

Run away is a viable option if the hunter hasn't seen you. if they have then it's 50/50. I agree with all your "ifs" though about trying to kill one. those are the times I die.

You can skip a lot of it and there's a guaranteed safety spot/retreat in the archon area. I'm sure ppl will come up with some good cheddar for us though. Maybe not day 1... I'll probably run it a few times tomorrow and see what I can find.

Wait, using your super isnt a counter to someone using a super? what are the counters for Titan and Warlock supers then?

The super trio mirrors the golden triangle that Halo was always built on:

melee > grenades
bullets > melee
grenades > bullets

You triggering your super to deal with someone else's super isn't good advice at all. Supers are meant to be used to take out multiple enemies, generate light for your team and, potentially, recapture or reassert lost momentum.

The best way to deal with supers are to understand how they work. Just in general though, blinking away is awesome, it lets you dodge bombs and escape from rockets and their splash damage (this is something that jumping will rarely accomplish). A good bladedancer will trigger near large groups and try to tear through chaining from kill to kill until the juice runs out. If a dancer triggers and kills you and no one else, game wise, I'd say you won that because they didn't score multiple kills and won't generate many light orbs at all. The PvP is all about distance, and distance is probably the best counter when it comes to bladedancers.
