Since I don't even have the slightest belief that
Opal is evil, I just don't see how Opal's sad face :( in that shot of her in a crowd is taken as a sign that she's doing something wrong. To me, it looks more like a scene where she's sad at what just happened in with that crowd, or something she failed to do. Convince them not to join Kuvira?

Well, I guess the expression could represent a couple different emotions. Without context to the scene, I suppose we are just guessing. I personally kind of see it as shame/regret. But it could just be sadness.

Well, I was wrong about one thing:

Seems like the spirit vine stuff is brought up. Kind of interesting to see that the city just integrated with it. But I guess the time jump kind of allows us to skip past any of the conflict/issues that arised as a result. So interesting stuff.

Anyways, you just know that scene going to lead into Mako X Asami. :P ITS HAPPENING.

Asami looks good with the new hair. It makes her look older, but not as old as I thought. Also Mako looking pretty suave with that longer hair slicked..

Is Masami happening? :o

Probably. I mean really, it's the only relationship that makes sense. Given that, there is actually something there to build off of. ie. Asami actually wanted to get back with Mako. Mako actually wanted to get back with her (but then Korra not remembering they broke up threw a wrench in that). But seeing as the last time they left off, both wanted to be in that relationship...

I'm just saying, there is only 13 episodes left. And really, this the only main pairing that actually has something there to work off of (not counting Opal/Bolin). Anything else would need to be brand new (new character/new romance) or would feel contrived.

Whoa, I must have not been paying attention. Didn't know they wanted to get back together.
I'd be ok with this pairing.

You don't remember Book 2? Asami basically became a booty call. As soon as she found out Korra and Mako Broke up, she was all over Mako. He resisted at first, but then the next day he seemed comfortable with it.

Wasn't until Korra forgot they broke up, that it fell apart (as Mako didn't know how to tell her they were over, and Asami got hurt again). Mako was also awkward as hell after the fact in Book 3. Point is, at least it showed they were willing to be together prior to that. There is something work off of.
Whereas Korra and Mako really have nothing to work on (especially with Korra not being in a place to date after Book 3 and being away for 3 years).

With any hope Bolin isn't as aggressively stupid as he was the last season

Yeah...

I'm probably interested in him the most tbh. From the trailer, we can gather he's in the Metal Clan military (and we can also assume he got serious with Opal, and is close to her family..hence him being with the Metal clan).

He looks pretty cool in the trailer. I just wonder if they'll continue to make him a stupid man child.

Now that's more like it. It seems they are fulfilling the potential of the spirit and the material world being woven together throughout the story. I loved how the roads bent around round the spirit jungle like a concrete jungle. Also, how large spirit locations have now become tourist places. But I hope this doesn't means it's not confined to this one scene in Republic City, but also throughout this series. Hopefully we get to see more conflict between the spirits and humans too.

I wonder if Prince Woo is at all related to the Earth Queen, extended family or another member of the aristocracy from another region of the earth Kingdom. He certainly has different and spoilt attitude. I'd like to see some evolution in Woo's character throughout the season.

The last thing I remember from Book 2 was the ending. Thanks for giving me a summary of what I missed!
I'll be #teammasami for now.

I just hope they do a bit more with it.
But honestly, what else is there to do? They pretty much establish that everyone integrated together. The three year time skip kind of deals with any kind of conflict or struggle there might have been leading up to integration. So what is there left to talk about? It's cool to see it again though. I just question if there will be anything substantial with it beyond that. This is kind of my fear about time jumps. It works both ways. It can be a really good device to get the ball rolling, and deal with plot that might have taken too long to tell. But that can also mean the audience missing out on a lot of progression. I'm starting to think the spirit/physical world having to come together is going to be swept under the 3 year time jump.

I still imagine the bulk of the season will take place in the earth kingdom (in the desert/dirt areas) where the war/conflict breaks out. Our only hope IMO, is if there is some bigger plot in the background related to spirits (that Korra's way of solving the problems involves something we don't know about).

You know what else is looking good right now?

Your avatar bet falling through.

lol yep. Mako x Asami OTP confirmed. Asami got that new wife haircut for him too. It's all falling into place. They are such a well established/good looking husband/wife combo in Republic City.

It's true, but I was hoping outside Republic City, things may be a bit different with the spirits and humans relationships. But, since the President said they're heading into a new age of peace, I guess this issue has been settled. I'd really like to see some Fire Nation scenes in the season, however unlikely that is.

Also, Tenzin's new son!

Truth.

Actually, something I really wanted to point out but didn't in the last Book that I was actually a bit impressed with is that they stuck through the whole season without giving Mako his scarf back. I just really expected them to eventually go back to the status quo costume-wise and they didn't, and the absence of the scarf says more about his character than any new costume addition really could. Very nicely done.

That new clip. Asami!!<3 She looks great as ever.
So that guy is a Earth prince, and man what a bastard lol. No wonder Kuvira wants to take over!:P Korra has really been gone for the three years eh? So much for that couple weeks.XD And pretty cool of how the city is interacting with the spirits now.

Hasn't the Earth Kingdom have at least one decent monarch that isn't a conqueror, a manipulator, a figurehead, or is concerned with material possessions?

Was hoping the result of the Ba Sing Se uprising wouldn't be another idiot monarch...

Looks like Republic City has adapted to the spirit wilds...
