Destiny |OT5| New patch out Tues., Master Rahool reportedly crying into his robes

Finally hit level 28. I feel like further upgrading my gear would be a waste of time since I haven't done a raid yet so I don't have any of that gear yet. It's about time I try it out LOL.

Don't think I'll be using it that much in Crucible, the impact is way too low for my tastes. It'll come in handy for the 500 Void damage in Crucible for the Thorn bounty, though.

There is an option to add stability to it and it fires so fast that I think when the recoil is contained it'll be quite competent in The Crucible. Getting it to that point is the difficult part.

When I get there, I'll have to test it out but either way it's going to become my primary for future Vault runs.

Destiny's development story seems like another Halo 2 on some parallels. That said, I am very excited to see where Destiny is headed.

Are the queen's kill orders possible to do solo as a level 25? My best weapon is a level 19 galahad auto rifle.

Other than that question, just checking in to say had a pretty good day playing yesterday. Got about 4 hours in and managed to finally get a level 20 rare leg armour - putting me at level 25 (have a legendary chest that puts me over 25).

I don't think so. The story is just one problem many reviewers had with the game.

I don't know, I think a great sorry and campaign would have changed the scores dramatically.

A great story which pulls you into its world can add tremendous motivation to replay content. It can make to feel like a part for the world, invested.

Hell, it doesn't even need to be a wonderful sorry. If the world building is great them the story just has to be coherent enough to anchor you. Destiny leaves you floating around its disjointed narrative mashing its mechanics over and over with little idea why.

I really think if this game had included all the Grimore stuff in game and if it had has a coherent story it would have been received very, very differently.

This is so good! I really need to read some of those cards.

I keep thinking this myself, but I never do.

What I love about games is they can tell a story in an interactive way. Carving off all the story to something like the cards on b.net strips them out of the game and makes it more like reading an encyclopedia. And I just find myself with no motivation to go dig that stuff up. It's the Destiny equivalent of having to go read a book to understand the game. I'd even read a good hunk of them if they were in game, as-is. But tucked away at b.net I just have no interest sitting down and plowing through them. This stuff needs to be in the game.

received my first exotic bounty.

Toland's Legacy
Shattered Memory Fragment
A Voice in the Wilderness

I went with Toland's Legacy ( Bad Ju Ju) as I would prefer a pulse rifle over a fusion rifle or a machine gun. Plus BJJ is getting a buff :).

Though I agree with you, it's not so much as digging as it is logging in and clicking 'Grimore' on the left.

Pretty sure the vast majority of reviewers knocked something off their score for the story. How much will vary from reviewer to reviewer, but very few (and none that I read) ignored it.

I read a few. I had to click through several categories of cards to get to one, and the interface was a bit slow. Regardless, I meant the act of going to the website, rather than pulling it up in game.

At least FFXIII included the encyclopedia in the game amirite

Destiny is the FFXIII of shooters I guess :(

Solid choice IMO. I enjoy mine and did all but the ascended upgrades in anticipation of the buff. Great for tearing through trash mobs while farming for elements or patrol missions.

Aw man you should have done Shattered Memory Fragment for Pocket Infinity haha. But Bad Juju will probably end up being pretty awesome once it's buffed.

Honestly, I've been doing Nightfall since the first week (I was lvl 25 or 26 when I completed my first). They aren't super hard. Just look up a youtube video of all the cheese spots and take it slow.

Expect 1.5 hours to progress through. Bring at least 10 of each consumable and don't take risks.

If you are with a group, and somebody is stupid enough to take risks; don't revive them. Let them sit there for 20 minutes while you ensure the area is safe enough for a revive.

All mistakes in these things are from people getting too eager to push through. Patience is rewarded here.

For the most part we've made it to the boss room every time, but the minotaurs or whatever you have to kill before he pops up ALWAYS wipe us out. I've tried getting up to the cheese spot in the room where the video says he can't touch you, but I can't do it. And I'm not sure what you'd do about the minotaurs even if I did get up there.

Alright, I'll bite. What is that helmet?

I can get Thorn, Bad Juju or another Invective. Don't really care for the first two. Could always get another Invective and break it down? What do you guys think?

Your primary doesn't matter. As long as you have weapons to deal with shielded enemies.

The line that really got my eyes wide was this:

“and ALL the origins were homogenized down to the one originally used for Exo characters.”

This sheds so much light on why the opening of the game feels so wrong if you do not start out as an Exo. Wow. How half-assed. Went through the game feeling that so many things were wrong or unfinished. It’s at least nice to have some affirmation to what I felt.

I saw this on a recent Reddit post ..

Ever stop to think WHY we're asked to raid the Vault of Glass? Check this out .. from the Grimoire of course:

"Beneath Venus the Vex have constructed a massive structure that is acting as a meeting point of past, present and future. Their long-term goal is to basically unchain themselves from the constraints of a physical reality and turn themselves into a sort of epistomological computer virus in the very fabric of reality, incorporating the very IDEA of themselves into the fundamental laws of the universe. Because in this space, reality and time are starting to be altered, Oracles and Gorgons are basically quantum supercomputers that calculate reality and utilize a weaponized ontology to determine what is and is not real. This is why a Gorgon can look at you and kill you, because it simply unwrites you from existence. Oracles make changes and revisions to reality, and the Templar/Aetheon processes these calculations into existence.

The relic is the last, dying, desperate act of Kabr, a guardian who managed to send word that this was happening. He basically killed a Gorgon himself and hammered its corpse into a vessel for the Light, turning it into a shield that maintains a small space of stable reality around it. Throughout the raid, the Vex are constantly trying to separate you from it, throwing it into the past or future where it can't be used against them."

And this:
"All the guns and armor you find in the raid are the remnants of Kabr's failed raid and will give further info about their wielders and the events of the raid itself. In fact, some of the general exotics in the game once belonged to friends of Kabr too. The Super Good Advice machine gun is one such example but comes from the exotic bounties. This was crafted by a hunter named Pahanin who passed Kabr's warning about the Vault from Venus. After witnessing what happened to Kabr he became deathly afraid of being alone; he reckoned that he could only continue existing as long as someone was able to perceive him. So, to ensure that a mind could perceive him at all times he used an AI gun."

Damn, it had crossed my mind, but I never thought that would be it.

I went with Bad Juju as it seemed like easiest one to accomplish. Not to mention the buff that devs implied would be coming to it.

You only get the rewards for the first time.

Yeah, not a huge gripe but it is a bit disappointing that you can replay a daily/weekly a second time at a higher level and get rewards for it.

JetBlackPanda posted this in the other thread.

I remember people assuming/claiming the content was already finished. Now we have confirmation otherwise.

Eh, I mean... there are no enemies in those areas-- except King's Watch (smh)-- so you can say that those areas "aren't finished". You'll also have dialogue triggers, etc.. that need to be recorded. Fine-tuning for different difficulty, etc.. But I mean... you can fully explore The Jovian Complex and King's Watch. Raids are a different animal entirely but those areas you can get into in Old Russia sure look pretty finished. As a content-starved PvE'er, I will gladly eat crow if it turns out that The Jovian Complex strike in the upcoming expansion is more than the area that you can currently get into.

lvl 20 fusion fire rifle. You will 2-3 shot that big guy. He isn't a problem at all.

If you have voice communication you can call for help if needed.

I see where you're coming from, but if, say, I had given Destiny a 7.0 or a 6.0, I don't think it would push the game into 9.0 territory given other people's problems with the game.

But maybe others put a lot more weight on the story than I do.

Right, but I wasn't saying reviewers didn't take anything off because of the poor story. I was saying that I wasn't sure if a good story would've dramatically improved the scores.

So yea doing the Moon strike is super quick, easy and earns about 1000 glimmer per run with black wax idol.

I've done it 5 times now and got 5,400 glimmer. Also now and then silken codex are dropped so thats 200 glimmer plus rare and uncommons drop which can put in a possible 100-200. So by the end within 5-6 minutes with 2 other high Guardians you can get 1000-1100 glimmer. Plus doing this method with others they earn you glimmer and you seem to use more weapons and class so you get upgrades now quicker.

That's what I went for, I'm not a fan of shotguns but I'll try it out first but I'll probably get rid of it for the materials. It's also the easiest and quickest to do.
