So last night while I was solo'ing the Nightfall, Heaven-Assassin from here saw what I was doing and jumped into my game to give me a hand -- only I already had the final boss down to 5% health and I ended up killing him about 1 minute after Heaven joined.

He got all the benefits and a Legendary FWC fusion rifle for his 1 minute of play time, haha. He felt bad but I thought it was hilarious.

That ever happen to anyone else?

I think there would definitely be a massive influx of flakey players with mm. Much more than you find currently on lfg.

Clicking on mm in game is much easier than going to an external site.

Probably but better than spending so much time trying to fill slots.

And to the LFG guys: don't drop out cuz people are struggling. Not everyone plays Raids like a pro. If you don't wanna help, don't post your dumbass names there.

Easier to be in the main GAF group and just kinda branch out from there. Everything is so clustered now.

I keep trying to set the main gaf group as my ps clan but it keeps telling me an invitation is already pending. No clue what that means as I don't have an invitation anywhere.

Or atleast mention that your done. People leaving during the raid without notifying anyone pisses me off so much. The group has no idea if you just lost connection or whatever.

I'll probably post this a few times today to raise awareness (
read: vent my ass off
)... but here's what I got from the Nightfall last night:

1) A legendary engram. Decoded into a blue rocket launcher. This would be the same rocket launcher I was using, fully-upgraded, during said Nightfall strike.

2) A sack full of door knobs

3) No, I didn't actually get any ddoor knobs, just the legendary engram.

Sorry AkaDemik and PikaPuff that we didn't get to crush the Nightfall last night before I went to bed. First time I've gone to bed without a victory for a night! Damn. We were doing okay, but I'm not sure I approve of the cheesy strategy for this week. It's just so much waiting. I think being (relatively) aggressive and doing tons of DPS to the boss from minute one, staying together and prioritizing adds is a better way to handle the fight if everyone has a decent Arc weapon. Everything starts to feel scary to me just hiding in that hole.

If you guys didn't manage to complete it last night I'd like to do it again with you after I get home from work, let me know.

I have had people who joined my fireteam through the LFG site just drop out, too

I already said raids might be pushing it, but I dont get why we cant just matchmake the heroic stuff.

Not everybody who plays Destiny posts here, or raids/heroics with RL friends.

By using LFG site, and to some extent here, you are match making with randoms.

It amazes me that people are still trying to justify the lack of matchmaking for raids (or anything else, for that matter).

Vault of Glass originally took 14-16 hours to beat. Everyone was flipping their shit.

Now, understanding the necessary tactics/using a guide, people beat it in 1-2 hours. World record is around 30 minutes.

I do not think matchmaking should be added WITHOUT mic support. But if mic support is added, there is no reason to not add matchmaking.

Would love the ability to send a message to all friends currently playing Destiny to say "hey get your asses in gear for a raid!!!". Hmm, I think i'll post it on the feedback forum...

I'd like a broadcast feature so that when players roll over our emblems in the Roster they can see something like:

"Looking for: [Insert Selection] such as Raid group, Crucible group, Nightfall group, etc" so that people who are sending out invites can find who is down for that activity instead of blindly sending out invites to those who have no intention of playing that activity.

This exotic bounty selection is so fucking stupid. I've gotten the same selection of 3 bounties... SIX TIMES.

I'm stuck with only doing two or three Queen Bounties cuz the refresh doesn't get rid of the ones I don't wanna do. I don't wanna do Scout Rifle headshots in PVP or the 3 Firewalkers one. So annoying.

Raids require two things that matchmaking can't provide:

1. Commited players
2. Mics

The second will be fixed in a future patch as announced for all mm activities, but the first never will

In the future, when raiders have moved on to new raid content and the average player has levelled to a point where the VoG becomes a lot easier, then it would make sense to consider mm.

Right now, it requires too much commitment for your average mm user. I see too many people bail on easy strikes to know how featuring the mm experience would be.

If you don't have the commitment to add people in game and have conversations to arrange raid groups, then how can you be expected to try and try again at content that can potentially take many hours for new groups?

People say "give it to us anyway, if we use it it won't hurt you". It actually might, as if everyone could access the content on a whim they would probably flood the forums calling for difficulty nerfs.

Also, we have a large pool of players actively looking for organised and committed groups, add mm and you would reduce that pool considerably.

Mm is fun for stuff that doesn't require team work.

What would actually be great would be a way to flag yourself in game as "looking for raid group", or add yourself to an in game board advertising that fact.

Paring with strangers this way is entirely different to just clicking a mm on a whim as it requires effort and time, both of which are required for the actual raid content.

If you can't handle that, how do you expect to handle the raid?

-

Mm for NF and daily heroic would be fine imo, they're mostly gear checks and don't require any real advanced tactics. However, I'd prefer that they wait for mic support to so this as NF especially does require some communication in some of the more hectic encounters.

All good points. The mic issue makes MM for Raids quite complicated.

There are too many variables.

I guess I could seek out a party on the LFG site.
However, I'd still find myself playing strangers, and adjusting to their play styles.

All I want, is committed players, who don't get frustrated and can accept their roles within the team.

I'll stick with it, only because I like this game so much.

lol been playing since launch, no exotic bounties yet

JUST got my first one last night finally. Leve 28.33

Btw, icebreaker is indeed awesome on nightfall, played through it was Raz and a friend and then again with Cra5h and Number2. Made one big dumb mistake (got cocky) but other than that we kicked ass.

I keep trying to set the main gaf group as my ps clan but it keeps telling me an invitation is already pending. No clue what that means as I don't have an invitation anywhere.

I had DestinyGAF as my clan on Xbox for a bit without any issues.

A Destiny wide message system would be neat, sucks that kind of innovation is dying on the console.

Did you go to the right cheese spot? The one thats just a little hole with no ceiling is terrible because you're vulnerable to damage. There's a much larger (and better spot) directly across from it in the other corner of the lower level where all 3 of you can fit and there are several holes to fire through. There's a ceiling above you and you're pretty much safe from damage. Works perfectly.

This is console gaming. I've done 20+ strikes and so far not one has used mic, although public chat IS possible during the strike.

Because you have to invite them to Fireteam, that's why. It's Destiny's fault, otherwise a lot of people would be talking in the Strikes.

The devil walker one is pretty easy if you go to that area in patrol mode. I've never seen another player in the area at the same time as me.

Bungie should implement some kind of token system to reset the raid earlier than Tuesday. It's such a long wait, and with the randomness of raid armor, it might take forever to hit 30.

I got so tired of that fight cuz I keep getting the Bounties to kill the final boss in Devil's Lair. :(

Does anybody have any tips on the Crucible portion of the Thorn exotic bounty? I am a Hunter who of course has no void skills so I am stuck trying to get all my kills via my fusion rifle and machine gun.

I actually had my points up to 4 in my first match but by the time it ended I was back to zero.
I just don't see how I am going to get 500 points this way.

I already have Bad Juju and I don't like shotguns so I skipped the Invective. I wish I had gotten the other set of bounties because I really wanted the Pocket Infinity bounty.

Before I give up on the thorn does anybody have any tips for a Bladedancer who would like to earn the thorn still?

Not to me, but usually I try to clear all the adds and get the boss low and I start sending invites to my friends just to get in on the rewards. Didn't happen this week just because the adds wouldn't stop so oh well.

Fair enough. It's quick enough that I don't have too much of a problem with it - shame you need the killing blow though or you could guarantee both bounties at the same time.

Man I love this gun. Reminds me of something out of Mass Effect. I cant believe I scored this plus Raid boots while everyone else in my party got kinda screwed in the spoils department last night. I felt kinda bad, especially cause I wasnt playing as good as I should have been.

Damn that's awful lol.

I do not think matchmaking should be added WITHOUT mic support. But if mic support is added, there is no reason to not add matchmaking.

I think more people would be irritated with matchmaking than without. For raids, anyways, the Strikes are fine. People bail on strikes now, the randoms bailing on Raids would be worse.

It is the FPS genre, though, and crowd, so an alternate advancement path that takes much longer than raids should be in place. A reeeeeeeeeeeeeeally long rep grind, maybe.

What gun is that?

Yea, I'm hoping that bounty goes away. I wanna get to Queen Rank 2 just to buy the Mark and other shader.

Has bungie said anything about the Vex Mythoclast weapon yet? Was watching a stream earlier and it straight up breaks the game because it's so OP.

Matchmaking isn't the right solution for the toughest content.

The game needs an in-Tower board for listings where notes can be added for specificity (Mics Required, First time please help, 28+ only) etc. that set expectations and ensure everyone in the group knows what they are getting into; these are benefits matchmaking can never provide. Matchmaking also runs the real risk of grouping together 6 new players who are unable or unwilling to communicate or don't know that they need to, who then proceed to spend 2 hours trying to open the front door and fail and then log off, muttering to themselves that they'll never try the fucking raid again, despite the fact that a largely-skill based and actively coordinated raid of 6 is actually more approachable for new players than a traditional slot-and-role MMO raid.

Essentially the game simply needs in-game utilities that directly reproduce the exact functionality of www.destinylfg.net (minus the need to specify region, platform, user ID obviously). Expectations are set by the group creator and presumably consented to by any who join. Once grouped in this manner, when expectations are set beforehand, voice chat should be active for those who have joined the fireteam.

Or have the resets every 3 days. I'm seriously screwed til Tuesday and there really isn't any reason for me to log back in until then. All I've gotten from the raid for the last two weeks is shards. Shards should only drop in the chests. I can get shards from extra raid gear that I don't need anymore. Itemization is terrible right now.

That is a nice idea, but does the boss's health instantly get scaled up when you add people when you were originally solo'ing? I am not sure how that works but I definitely notice a difference in enemy health solo vs. full team.
