Thats good to hear. I dont have any super powerful arc weapons just maxed out blues. Shoupd be good enough though.

My team and I beat both the Nightfall and weekly heroic last night without wiping once. Nightfall is tougher only because of the kick to orbit part of it in my opinion. In terms of length, the weekly will take you a little longer because of the lack of arc burn.

How do other MMOs handle loot? It sounds like with Bungie it's almost become infamous, so they must be doing something so wrong that the other MMO handle loot drops. I know there has to be RNG in the other games but how are they implemented in a way that doesn't piss people off to this level?

MMO's don't typically have a Decrypt/Identify system with their loot. So what you see is what you get. However MMO's still have really low drop rates for the best gear and in some, loot is shared with the whole party or raid (which can range from 5 people for a party up to 25 or 40 people for a Raid, depending on the game).

In that if you do something like a raid or dungeon whatever there is a guaranteed drop of a specific quality. Destiny doesn't do that for example, it is all random all the time.

No. There are no guaranteed drops in dungeons or raids in MMO's. Each boss has a loot table of specific drops. Each item on that loot table has a certain percentage chance to drop when you kill them. So there is still RNG involved in MMO loot.

I played Halo for a decade. (That's a no.) It is my first time around a throng of addicts this large, though. :p

I do wish we had some online player stats for Destiny. Seems most games let you see how many players are going; I haven't seen that for Destiny, which is odd considering how Bungie supplied it for Halo. Certainly it seems to be going very strong from other, less precise measures.

I actually just mentioned it today how Bungie needs to release a massive statistics dump for the weekly. Would be great to see.

72 hours played.

2 raids
2 nightfalls

2 exotic bounties

2 exotic rewards
2 exotic decrypts
3 exotics bought

3 legendary decrypts
1 legendary decrypt from a blue
1 legendary reward from faction level
4 from mission/strike rewards (includes sniper from queen's wrath)

Bought 5 pieces of legendary gear for various builds.

1 legendary blessing bought
1 legendary class armour found on raid
1 legendary shader found on raid

I hope it rewards gear which will push people to level 30, otherwise it will be useless for those of us level 27 and up.

Hard mode raid helm for Titans has a quality level of 60

The Crucible event helm has a quality level of 80. I have no clue how those values are determined or if it's any indication of the light level you will see, but there you have it.

If you're not against bringing him into the Crucible, you can do a lot more than 1 level a day!
))

I'm entering the crucible now actually with my bounties. I needed to get an auto rifle first as I deleted the first two I had lol

I'm so used to being decked out with legendaries and exotics... Not to mention my agile hunter. This will be so interesting as a level 11 titan :P

I did the fusion part last night in 6 or 7 rounds, hunter with a void fusion. You need to minimize sight lines and preload the burst before encountering enemies. Use the radar and keep priming the fire so it's mostly charged when you see the enemy. It can get frustrating but it works.

100+ hours playtime

3 nightfall completions
0 raid completions

2 exotic weapon rewards/decrypts
1 exotic armor rewards/decrypts
~6 exotic bounties (I'm abandoning them at this point)
~4 blue engrams decrypted into purple items
~3 exotic or legendary gifts/decrypts from cryptarch rank ups (level 16)
0 exotic gifts/decrypts from Vanguard rank 4/Crucible rank 3

I have 6 exotic weapons, 7 legendary weapons, 2 exotic armor, 6 legendary armors, and I don't even remember the legendary weapons and armors that I've decided to dismantle.

And I stepped into the raid once with a group that dissolved in a matter of minutes, clearing nothing.

All these blessings from RNGesus and all I want to do is the damn raid. 2 groups have been stifled due to PSN not working, the other was a group of randoms.

I'm right there with you, I've been sitting around making next to no progress in about a week.

http://www.bungie.net/en/Legend/2/4611686018428772554/2305843009220244233#gear

what's not shown:
Aries Nemesis X4
A.1F19X-RYL
Patience and Time
Invective
Judgment IV
Zombie Collapse
Super Good Advice
Thunderlord
and 4 other Exotic/Legendary pieces of Armor.

And all I want to do is play the fucking Raid, I've tried the LFG sites and a couple of other forums, but very few people seem to play the PS3 version. ANd trying to get people together for it is very hit and miss on Platforms that don't have a 4 in their name.

Yes to an extent but you'd still walk out with something in an MMO. Doing a full run and only getting shards doesn't count as something in my book. If you're waiting for the gear to upgrade and you consistently don't get any, then having 40 shards is useless to someone just trying to get from 29-30.

It does. And the fact that every level 30 is going to be wearing the exact same gear is laaaaaaaame.

I have an idea what the raid helmet should be like: it should be invisible, allowing the face of the Guardian you created to be visible to everyone (like in the Tower). Pretty much everyone's Guardian is unique, so this would be a great way to differentiate yourself from others.

I wonder if it's because this game is important enough to ATVI that it's perceived performance can make the stock ticker move, whereas with MSFT, Halo rarely made a dent

Take any item ratings from Destinydb with a grain of salt. There is no better armor in the game than Exotics/Hardmode Raid Gear.

Exactly, add to that the engram bullshit on top.

Had the best luck in a Raid Run last night.

Drops:

Atheon's Epilogue (AR)
Hawkmoon (Exotic Pistol)
Ice Breaker ( Exotic Sniper)
The Culling (MG)
Corrective Measures (MG)

and the Chatter White shader.

So many drops, did you finished the raid? I only see like three drops before reaching the final boss

For one, loot is distributed by the raid leader/rolls in well, WoW. So if your team comp is a diverse one, then somebody will always get a piece of loot(Which in Destiny shouldn't be a problem, since everyone can use weapons). (Of course, raiding in WoW tends to be a group of people who do it weekly.)

So, in WoW, 2 pieces of loot drop for every boss, and there tends to be over 4 bosses each raid(For Pandaria, that is, the first raid had about 6 bosses, the smallest raid in the expansion has 4, but it was released in tandem with another raid.) So that's about 12 pieces of guaranteed loot. For tier pieces(Set pieces for a class, tend to have special bonuses when you wear the set), 'tokens' drop, which every piece can be used by 3-4 different classes to turn in for an appropriate piece of gear. (For example a token could drop that Mages, Death Knights, Druids, Rogues can use to trade in.)

The biggest major difference is that these are guaranteed random drops. Because of how WoW raiding works, gear tends to be usable by atleast someone in the part.

For Destiny....well, there's only 3 classes. But that's an basic explanation for the loot system.

Actually it's entirely possible to do an entire raid in an MMO and walk away with nothing. There's a higher chance of walking away with something but that's only because MMO's have more Slots to equip and more Raid bosses to beat. 10+ bosses is quite normal for an MMO raid.

Probably gonna be rep grind then.

Get to iron rep 3 and you can buy raid quality gear, so basically nobody will get close

I'm solo running the daily at level 28 now. If you need it on a lower level char, feel free to join me and hang back or join in as much as your want.

Or if you just want to join in, feel free.

Ps4: astropoff

Yes, don't check. I am not either.

Fuck, I checked.

About 135 hours total.

It hurts, what am I doing with my life? lol

Yes, I need help.

Hence why it's even more important for Destiny to have better itemization. I've got 6 chances per week right now. 1 from nightfall. 1 from Xur (even though once you have one exotic for pve that's all you need) and then 4 from the raid: 2 Templar, 2 Atheon. The chests should be the only place to get energy/shards. if I get the wrong item for my class then I'll get more shards that week.

Do we even know when this pvp event will happen? I don't see any info on it from Bungie, just places that datamine the info. Perhaps this is an event that is going to happen after one of the DLC packs that raise the level cap.

Does anyone want to try the raid now? Maybe a couple to three hours tonight and then finish it off in the afternoon tomorrow? This is all GMT+1

Level 29 warlock. I'm broadly familiar with it but it'd be great to have some experienced heads!

Need four more....

screw all that other stuff, game needs gear transmutation priority one!:X

Just wait until you have to go from 29 ----> 30 and you're at the mercy of both RNG and a once a week activity...
:(
At 58 hours now...The grind from 28 -> 29 is real. :|
28 is definitely a new sort of soft cap. might make one final leveling guide to detail "Life at 28" as I plan to stick here while getting into regular raiding and such rather than trying to grind outright to 29.

Queen helm is fine except the visor is always purple no matter what Shaders you use. Lame.

The Titan one is ugly as hell. Those stupid spikes sticking out look terrible, and I too am thinking of grabbing another helm just because it looks not stupid.

If Xur is selling the Helm of Saint-14 for Titans this week then I won't have to buy one for a bit, so I'm holding out for that then I can just swap between that and the Inmost Light for Striker Titan's.
