The problem with Destiny's loot system is there are no checks and balances to prevent frustration. Inherently it should be random, but there should some concrete calculations also involved. There is no reason I should be getting chatterwhite and 3 shards everytime I beat Atheon. That is inherently wrong. Each run through should progressively increase the bias for other rewards.

I'd like to do heroic weekly strike and the daily at level 26. I'm only 23 so I'm pretty sure that I'd need someone to carry me. :u

if only the queen's missions decided to drop me that fucking helm instead of 5 chest pieces.

Was anyone actually able to do the Nightfall Strike without using the box cheese?

Obligatory daily cry concerning the weapon vendor, who's become an even greater villain than Rahool, still refusing to ever sell a fusion rifle for people that work during the day: !%^%#$#$@@^^&$#%#$@@$

I swear to the Traveler that those two are in cahoots together, preventing me from ever getting an exotic. Save me Xur! Please bring me my Heart of Plaxic Fire, sweet prince!

Anyone late night nightfall on XB1? Usually only play once the kids are in bed. I wouldnt mind adding people to try that. Level 27 Warlock. Tag: toejam2501

I've dropped 143 hours into this game now. I'm...not very proud of that. Should beat the raid for the first time tonight, with my second trip to Atheon. I hope I can get raid gear this time, because it's all energy so far, with a Multi Tool and Found Verdict shotty thrown in for good measure.

Fortunately, I've got two characters that can raid now, so I have some versatility. About to max out my 3rd subclass (2 for warlock and now Gunslinger) and I'm proud to say I have gotten much better at PvP. It's really all practice. Still, I've been having fun with the crucible in the full game, eventhough I sucked for the first few weeks. Whatever they changed from the alpha and beta helped the balance and gave me a greater feeling of control. Now that I'm comfortable with the maps, I can start to improve my technique and strategy. Plus, it's a lot more fun playing with my clan.

I love this game. I've professed this love to a few clients, and now they've bought it too and also love the game. This thing will have legs IMO. It's kind of a big deal. PEACE.

First attempt at cheesing didn't work and got us killed, so after we played properly and made the space turtles our bitches.

Me and another gaffer did it last night. Wasn't too bad. Just have shock weaps and the boss goes down fast. And his tells for when he's about to fire are pretty clear.

Edit: make sure to kill the adds ASAP. Have one person focus fire the boss and another killing the adds

I disagree, see my post on the previous page. In many MMOs you get absolutely nothing for killing bosses, and it still feels better. Destiny's problem is that there is just literally nothing else to do besides this one activity.

RNG is always going to cause extreme pain to some.

My friend didn't get the Salarian Infiltrator or the Claymore shotgun after 100 hour or so of ME3 MP.

Hopefully it will be better for you after the patch. Thank the stars for Xur, too.
yeah im not bitter. I enjoy my time online. Probably bc im used to the grind. If the gameplay is good im happy.

There are reasons. Mm has obvious downsides. The biggest being you can click it on a whim without even considering the commitment required. And while mm could fill those who drop out, the entire point of the raid is to build a team who know how to work together. Having to teach the new people and learn how the new team best works each time would make it incredibly tedious.

Mm isn't some flawless answer. A party board in game where you could advertise lfg and have to take your time finding a party would eliminate a lot of the people who never intended to commit. It wouldn't be perfect of course, but mm would be /full/ of drop outs.

I'm not advocating that they just dump in MM for raids, the same as they do for strikes.

Have a lobby.
Add voice coms to the lobby/game in general.
Give the raid host/leader control over adding/removing team members if they don't think they're up for it.

There is more than one way to do matchmaking.

exactly my issue right now. I can waste those 40 raid shards on leveling my faction legendaries but really I should be waiting for raid armor and spending it on those. No raid armor? No real point in falsely inflating your level to 29 only to lose it continually as you replace your gear.
You would want to hit 29 in whatever way possible if your goal was to be able to run the hard m-
Being 29 allows you to try hard raid. Double chances.
exactly.

not a priority for me personally though.

I've seen a few people report that it dropped at the end of this weeks Nightfall quest, which is were I got it. Probably just coincidence, but if you haven't run it yet then it might be worth it before buying it from Xur.

Nightfall loot is such a crap shoot. The loot table for rewards on it is so massive. My defender got a bladedancer helm.

Me, Akai and Dhruv didn't cheese it :)

Twice. It's not hard at all if you kill the Psions ASAP.

My arc sniper was hitting the boss for 6k crits. He was easier to kill than the Heroic version.

Really? you guys must have some gnarly weapons to take those psions down with the quickness. I don't think it was possible with the two groups I attempted with. At least the second group finally learned about the box cheese in time for us to beat it before giving up.

In one MMORPG i used to play, the reward for beating a raid was a special consumable item you could summon to assist you in battle, ranging from healing you to instantly killing an enemy. some of them even give money to other players. after you beat these raids, you'd be required to go through a strike to earn enough points to do the raid again. throughout the raid, you'd be leveling up, so after you've "maxed" on that raid you'd be 5 levels higher than you were before.

it was repetitive and it was a lot of grinding, but it was fun. you'd meet many new people along the way and you'd always get a reward, even if it was something you already had.

i wish destiny had a similar system to this. right now, i have absolutely no reason to raid again until next week, nor does anything i do in the strike help me for the raid.

I don't like MMOs and can only speak for Destiny.

10 consecutive errors. Bee, baboon, maroon berry or something and a string of cattle.

Is the patch going live or something?

I was using my Final Boss void Sniper, 1 bullet destroyed the shield. Was awesome.

...says everyone stuck at lvl 28. I'm not putting any shards into any of my legendary kit. I'll max them up to the point where shards are involved, so I'm 28 on my warlock, and I'll get there with my hunter whenever I find legendary legs. No point in buying them either, I'm committing my marks purely to weapons.

I think it's a shame none of the vendor legendaries hit 30 light. It makes them a cash sink that can provide only an incremental bump to 29. However, the difference between a lvl 29 and lvl 28 on a raid is nothing. It's more about the weapons you're packing and your fireteam's complementary parts. It's just a damn shame raid gear drops are so fucking random. I feel for my clan leader who's clearly the most talented player in our group, but has been getting shafted on drops. He's helped us through many lvl 28 heroics and nightfalls, and he's also our designated relic guy and PvP ringer. Yet, he's coming up with shards and energy like a chump. Damn shame, because I hit lvl 28 before he did, and I was just shooting a fucking cave for 2 weeks. LOL! PEACE.

At least this happened last night :)

Of the guns I have it's my favorite. It's amazing.

Kinda funny. Farming the raid to almost exclusively do better in the raid which will then be almost pointless.

Yeah, I doubt I'll push for 30. Long grind with a lot of luck required, when there's no need to be that level currently and expansions will presumably add higher levels with new raid gear etc. making it a waste of time come December.

Titan Defender void grenade insta-kills them. Wearing the Armamentarium chest plate gives two grenades, so managing those vermin isn't so bad.

First attempt at cheesing didn't work and got us killed, so after we played properly and made the space turtles our bitches.

Blowing off the Space Turtle heads and watching that geyser of oil blood spurt out is so damn satisfying. Never gets old.

Those psions go out like a bitch when you take out their shield, however because people see ARC DAMAGE and equip accordingly not many rocks a void weapon.

After killing 98 percent of my entire play session last night between trying to find a party twice and wipes, after finally completing it, just coins ;_; I have enough coins for Xur already, I need need better equipment, dammit! If Xur would come every day it wouldn't be an issue.

;_;

Finished the Nightfall (thanks SharkJaw and wowmuchusername) and got a Legendary Engram.

Yadayadayada, I got a Blue Machine Gun that got immediately dismantled, complete disappointment.

Feels bad.
