The main thing this patch drama has taught me is that an amazing amount of people don't know how to read or to grasp what they've read.

Makes me frightened for the future of Democracy.

Still, I'll run strikes / heroics / nightfall with even the most illiterate.

It is truly scary the amount of people that refuse to find information themselves. Far too many rely only on second hand info which is inherently inaccurate.

You do get rewards for every subsequent level after 3, so it is still worth while. That being said, if a faction has gear with stats/bonuses more to your liking you should go for said faction.

I'm thinking of jumping to a Faction, mainly because PvE and PvP exp gets thrown at it, and would therefore rank it up faster than splitting between Vanguard and Crucible. Just making sure there's not some high level Vanguard goodness I'll miss...

And I believe that's only a way to alleviate the underlying issue because you have the opportunity to be potentially screwed out of loot, regardless of if you even do both raid difficulties. And even if you did have three characters, because everything dropped in the raid is a gamble in the purest form between you and the game (and not between you and the other teammates as more competent games have shown), you STILL have the chance to get jack shit. Just this time, you get it 3x in a row.

I cannot consider that to be fair. Not for a raid.

Again, I agree to a point. I personally have only completed the raid twice, but neither time did I receive jack sh*t; I'm genuinely not sure if you mean you get nothing or if you mean not getting raid-tier equipment/weapons. I have been disappointed from only receiving Ascendant Materials from chests, but when it all boils down they are useful so it is still a win in my book given the fact that you usually leave there with 10+ which isn't bad for an hour or so of playing. I realize others may feel differently as at the current time the only way to achieve level 30 (if that is one's goal) is to obtain raid gear, and certain weapons are only granted by completing on hard mode.

I mainly play PvP, and I stick with a scout rifle, shotgun, and rocket launcher.

Due to the weapon imbalances would you say I am at a major disadvantage? I'm still usually positive and sometimes still get a 3.0-4.0 k/d ratio. However every encounter with ARs and Fusion Rifles seems near impossible. It seems like 3 bullets from the AR take me down.

Very frustrating

I will stick with the scout rifle as I like to feel that I am precisely aiming my shots and not getting lucky with spraying.

PERSONALLY, I think scout rifles are outclassed by just about everything else. If you're going for that kind of precision, you're probably better off with a handcannon with the only downside being a smaller magazine (and recoil I guess), but they'll be more versatile for close range fights. I've found pulse rifles to be really good precision weapons if you want to keep that larger magazine. Right now auto rifles (with decently balanced stats) are probably the best because they're still too accurate from larger distances, have large magazines, and you get that continuous fire (which is why they'll be getting nerfed). I still suck with auto rifles though since I prefer the burst fire type control of a pulse rifle so that's what I roll with.

Now that the NF is on Mars, where's the best place to go to net some fusion rifle kills? I do have an arc fusion rifle.

I would. While I love scout rifles and use them in PvE they are just so so bad in PvP at the moment :(

I guarantee if you started using an assault rifle like the Suros, Shadow Price, or Shingen your K/D would rise a decent bit.

Thank you for the input and suggestions. I may try those out at some point, but I really hope they fix the imbalances because the scout rifle is the type of weapon I prefer in most games.

Here is what I am using in PvP currently. I'm up to level 25 and I have played almost 0 story. All I care about is competitive multiplayer.

So now that I am zeroing in on Vanguard Lvl 3, I have been doing a little research on what gun to buy from the Vanguard Quartermaster.

I am fairly certain my first purchase will be the Shadow Price. Thoughts on that?

I've also heard that getting a weapon from a drop versus a purchase in the tower will yield a weapon with different upgrades. Can anyone confirm this and, if so, does it make THAT much of a difference?

Uhh... The update history for Destiny doesn't specify if it downloaded patch 1.0.2. When I select it on my ps4. Only 1.0.1.3. Is shown in my history.

Is there any way to just download the patch directly? I don't want to start playing until I know the cryptarch won't fuck me over anymore.

This patch also makes it a lot more bearable to do my 25 strikes for my bad juju bounty as at least now I'm getting decent shit while running those strikes.

Shadow Price is solid, that's what I'm going to eventually get for an AR unless I get a random better drop first.

And yeah, dropped versions can roll with randomized special upgrade slots. (fast reload, perfect balance, etc). The vendor version has a set upgrade path (which isnt bad)

On that same note, does anyone know if there is any kind of reward for hitting rank 3 with all the normal tower factions? Might add it to my random goal list if there was something neat for it.

Also this patch is gonna be awesome. I stashed so many blue engrams for the purpose of leveling my cryptarch rank. I may not get much (nor do I really need much), but I'm still excited.

I'd like to try and knock out the Nightfall tonight, dunno if I should attempt another solo run or see if some of the fine people here would like to run one. Bah, still too much time before work is over.

I lvl to 3 with the vanguard and got a good legendary AR now I use is so I can feel good about using my exotic machine gun. also I'm lvl27 hunter anybody and everybody hit me up PSN: ryuken-d

Go to the dust palace, should be no trouble. I got 100 kills in just under one hour.

If you're running low on special ammo, just outside there are regular lv 18 mobs that can be killed for ammo.

I just started the game.

Exercise in futility #223: Trying to grind out 20 vanguard rep to get to rank 3 via remote play on my Vita through my work's dodgy WiFi

When you launch the game it will download the patch.

Have you tried pulse rifles? They are kinda similar and I seem to do a bit better in Crucible with them over the Scout. I prefer the Scout though. Looking forward to the Crucible updates.

Nah nothing special. At rank 3 I got one of their scout rifles, 4 I got the Rocket launcher you can buy from them, and rank 5 I got some Warlock gloves. I think, in the case of the Vanguard, they just pull something from the purchasable gear as a reward. Apparently you also have a chance for ascendant mats as well. So I'd say go all in with a faction. They also have a chance to reward you with stuff they don't normally sell. I got a FWC sniper rifle for hitting rank 3.

Anyone up for running the level 24 strike playlist to test out the drop rate for engrams? I'm on PS4 and hoping to do 4-5 strikes.

In the meantime I'm hosting dance practice in the tower. If you have played Just Dance 1 and 2 and are dedicated and have a mic, you can join me. I'm next to the queens emissary (its a wasteland over there, no one EVER comes by to bother us).

There will be a raid per expansion. No idea what quote from Bungie you're referring to; it is their main selling point IMO.

we knew there would be a raid per expansion for awhile now. And bungie confirmed it like 2 days ago. A raid on the moon in the first and a raid in the reef(zomg new location finally) in the second.

Okay cool. I wasn't that surprised to see there would be more raids, but my buddy thought he heard there wouldn't be (it seems he was confused). Him saying though reminded me of this:

http://thedestinyblog.com/2014/09/1...he-dark-below-now-on-psn-store-or-xbox-store/

which has this:

An ancient tomb has been unsealed. Beneath the surface of the Moon, a dark god has answered centuries of prayer, and a dark army has risen. Explore the true depths of the Hellmouth. Stop the dark Hive ritual and survive.

FEATURING:
• An all-new Hive storyline
• New Competitive Multiplayer Maps
• New Cooperative Activities
• A Wealth of New Weapons, Ships, Armor & Gear to earn (including all-new Rares and Exotics)
• New Grimoire Cards and Dead Ghosts to collect
• New Story and Cooperative Areas to explore

I figured that if there was for sure going to be a raid it would have made it to places advertising the above, so I figured I'd double check.

Thanks for the confirmation though guys.

And Hawkian, I totally agree it is the main selling point. The raid(s) are significantly different, challenging, and exciting. I really hope they start implementing stuff from TGV to the rest of the DLC, and then I hope for the new raids it isn't recycled ideas from TGV.

Hey guys, looking for someone to play the weekly strike with. I'm level 23. PSN: AmoRocker.

Also looking for general advice on how to find people (here or in-game). This game is barren :s.

Oh, thanks for coming in today.

Thanks for confirming, that's what I had heard. You'll watch me either purchase that gun or get something similar from a drop tonight. I promise you that.

Looks like we'll be getting after it in just under three hours. You ready? Sounds like today will be a little less stressful than last night. Outside of my Nightfall "loot," we did crush it last night. Didn't wipe once on either Nightfall or the weekly heroic. Good improvement over last week, haha.

That may be the next thing I try since they are the most similar to the scout rifles. Pretty sure I used pulse rifles during the Alpha/Beta, but the scout rifles won me over over time.

lol yeah, screw that nightfall roll. i have good faith you'll get something worthwhile when we raid this weekend.

I think it's funny some people claim weapon types are balanced. I went from a consistent frustrating .5 kd with some random blue ar I was using to a consistent 1.5 kd with a green shingen c ar.

I wish they spent more time balancing these things because I like my blue ar for pve but it's seriously like a bb gun in the crucible

I think the way to fix it is to use the old tried and true method of rolling for drops. Bosses guarantee an armor drop, but only 1 for the entire group. You all roll on it. This gives people a chance to pass if it's not something they need, and everyone feels like they had a chance

People keep talking about this "Raid Armor".

What is this stuff? Legendary? Exotic?

Is it guaranteed that you get some during the raid? Do you have to beat the raid to actually snag some?

Why pass, when you can dismantle shit for ass shards my friend?

"Dude, wtf, you already have that!"

"Oh shit man, wrong button.. my bad" :)

It's not that I don't have patience. But I don't have patience. I want something tonight. I want to get it tonight and take full advantage of the increased XP etc from that sonuvabitch Nightfall raid. This RNGeesus asshole owes me. That's right, OWES me. I don't give a shit if he's some deity. Bitch better recognize.
