I feel that any weapon that Xur sells loses a bit of it's exotic status. One of the reasons I passed on the Suros - because it became so commonly used. My goal is find a very niche gun and dominate with it. Fortunately, Bungie can remedy these problems by releasing more exotics through expansions and such.

Overall though, it does suck that the options are so limited and everyone ends up looking the same. Hopefully one day we have a ton of different variations that are viable. It just sucks that to get to level 30 I have to homogenize my setup.

Anyone have any suggestions on using Ward of Dawn in PvE? Still levelling Defender, so I only have armour of light but aside from safe (assuming no close mobs) revives I struggle to think of useful placement. Once I have weapons then it's easier just for the damage buff.

Sure, consider the situation and what your team needs.

Ward of Dawn: 90% of the time it's used to revive someone or to prevent fatal damage to yourself. The other 10% is in the raid to obliterate Atheon :)

+ Armor of Light: Only good if you know there's a high chance of mobs walking into it. For example, lots of knights, or the Archon Priest, etc. In those situations it's really great for diving in and reviving someone, otherwise pass on it.

+ Blessing of Light: Pretty much for content that's still challenging to you or your fireteam. The overshield isn't amazing, but it can buy you a bit of time to run out to a safe place. In Nightfall mode it won't save you from boosted melee damage though, so beware anything that walks into the ward.

+ Weapons of Light: Perfect for content you feel safe handling. Make stupid boring shit go faster. Or to punch Atheon in the robo-dick harder.

Note that you can also use Ward as a orb generator. I run Crest of Alpha Lupi (exotic chest) + Gift of the Void to create 6 orbs of light that the fireteam can safely grab. For Nightfalls I'm basically ensuring that my fireteam has their supers going off all the time.

e: oops, I mixed up the Blessing and Armor effects.

Scout Rifles have been confirmed for an incoming buff. Eta "before the end of the year".

If you can't get along with it then put it in your vault for now.

I really like my Cryptic Dragon. Feels great to shoot and it's fun to precision hit with. My Suros does make it feel underwhleming though.

Yeah, it's like, if that's going to be the end result anyway, why is the game such a dick about giving up cool loot?

Halfway through Rank 4 of Crucible now... still barely Vanguard Rank 1. Eagerly awaiting that Scout Rifle buff so my Cryptic Dragon can shine.

The bubble is useful, it attracts hate from mobs and they like to focus in it while it's up, freeing up some time and space for your mates.

You can also set it up to generate additional orbs as it takes damage, so that's always a nice little bonus.

It's also saved my ass on many an occasion as I was about to die. I especially enjoy triggering it while in the air, you do a cool slam down effect in the process.

Throwing up Ward, especially Blessing of Light can save your ass if you are in danger of going down. Blessing instantly gives you a shield so it can save you even if something is charging up close, inside the bubble.

Weapons of Light is essential for optimizing the raid final boss, especially on hard mode.

Ward of Dawn is a nice safety net for things like solo'ing Dailies, or the Nightfall when you really, really can't afford to go down.

You will eventually find spots in the strikes where it can be placed to strategize the boss fights.

Honestly I just use it when I'm about to die, and it then comes in handy for everyone.

That and those amazing run in and bubble / revive someone.

When you get blessing of light it instantly charges your shield so it can be used to pop in and out of to fight.

There's an upgrade that let's you take a shield buff outside of the shield, I use that to weave in and out of my shield and act like it's instant health regen.

Thanks folks, I'm not missing anything obvious then. Blessing of Light is the next upgrade available to me. :)

EDIT: And Vhalyar.

So apparently if you get the most kills during a strike now you get more rewards than everybody else. Great, so that means people will rush to kill everything they can. Screw working together.

Yeah, that's why I'm not in like the quickest hurry to get to 30. When you get there and everyone's repping the same stuff, it all comes down to skill. Which I have none of.

In high level PVE content my Bladedancer gets wrecked if I use Arc Blade's super. I'd rather my melee special be up to maximize invisibility opportunities.

Ahh, very true. I hear that Arc Blade is very poor in high level PvE, which is a shame.

My grenades increase Melee recharge.
My Melee gives me force barrier which provides super fast reload and an overshield.

Combine that with high strength and discipline and it's really effective in pvp.

So you don't mind that your Ward of Dawn doesn't charge fast? I can see not focusing on WoD for the TDM modes or Rumble actually, but WoD is wonderfully helpful in Control -- I suppose it depends on what you play.

So what is everyone expecting to buy tomorrow from Xur? I'm hoping the The Glasshouse titan helmet or the Mk. 44 Stand Asides legs.

Full list here of the exotics.

Is Glasshouse in the game now or is it DLC? I haven't heard or seen anyone with it. I think the only Titan gear left for Xur to stock save for repeats is Insurmountable Skullfort, Helm of Saint-14, and the grenade chest.

I get a lot from identifying blue engrams. I've gotten a lot of blue engrams as strike rewards recently.

Side note: after we parted ways last night, I screwed around at the tower a little more, turned in a bounty and got my first exotic bounty. The game was very good to me last night.

Glasshouse, along with a whole bunch of exotics, are still unreleased. Quite a few of them are even missing their unique effects.

Haha nice man, I went and watched sons of anarchy then got bored and went back to grind some crucible marks. What bounty was it?

Need level 29s+ for hard mode Raid on ps4. I'm at the gate lords part right before atheon. Especially need someone who's great with the relic, and, in general, people who know what they are doing at the gate lords part (it's incredibly difficult when people don't know what they are doing, whereas in normal mode you can sort of get away with a mistake here and there)

Haven't seen Xur stock the Titan boots yet. Haven't seen them in the game at all, actually.

I got disconnected during a strike, joined back in and had 10 kills at the end of it. I got a blue and purple engram, my buddy got two blues.

RNG laughs at your claims.

Me either, those look awesome but I'm not so sure if I'd want to use them. I think the helm of inmost light is still more valuable for a striker titan, but no doubt those boots would help cause some tears in PvP :D

We need one more for the raid final boss on normal. Titan defender if poss but not a huge deal if not!

My god, what's with all the crap Exotics? I've scrapped two of my five Exotics so far and Thorn may soon follow if the buff isn't significant.

Thorn is just crap all-round. Lowest possible impact for a Hand Cannon, lowest mag-size, atrociously slow reload-speed and high recoil make the thing nearly impossible to use in high-level content. It seems to have a somewhat higher fire-rate, but that's no use with the tiny mag and high recoil. There's no perks at all to improve reload speed, impact or clip size. To be fair, I haven't gotten the signature perk yet, but I hardly see that perk suddenly skyrocketing this gun to something more than 'usable'.

Super Good Advice is completely useless. Insanely high recoil makes it impossible to hit anything and there are no stability perks. It also has very slow reload speed, even compared to other LMG's, and the unique perk ( almost all bullets that miss their target return to the mag ) is useless, as bullets that hit targets don't do anything special and bullets that miss their target MISS THEIR TARGET. And believe me, you bullets will miss their target.

Apotheosis Veil, the Warlock Helmet, also has no real use. Its unique perk ( restore health on Super activation ) is fully canceled out by taking any damage from any source at any time during activation; this helmet will never save you from critical low health situations as a result, and, on top of that, Fireborn Sunsingers ( pretty much the endgame class ) have no use for this anyway because they can self-revive with full health...

I'm pretty much only keeping my Sunbreakers for their Light stat and my Invective barely gets any use...

Be aware that Fist of Havok will break through Ward and kill anyone inside, that Nova Bomb will pop Ward and expose you to whatever Nova effects (and if I remember, a Shatter version will kill you anyway) and that two Golden Gun shots will also pop the bubble.

Ward is a giant target :)

That does suck, I had the perfect setup of Intelligent/Discipline stats that they were both at 100% effective, and now because of the raid armour boosting my strength by 106 points *yuck* I have to compromise. :|

Thanks folks, I'm not missing anything obvious then. Blessing of Light is the next upgrade available to me. :)

EDIT: And Vhalyar.

Yeah using Defender at first is a bit rough to use because outside of using your ward of Dawn to revive people, you're pretty much trapped in a minor space until the later upgrades.

Yeah that's why I never use Defender in PvP other than Salvage and Control, more often than not, I can buy time with the whole other team focusing on me and my pesky bubble, and send an SOS.

I had a choice of 3. Dubious Task (Invective), Tolands Legacy (Thorn), or A Light in the Dark (Thorn).

I chose the one for the Invective. As you know, I'm pretty lukewarm on PvP so I chose the one that I thought had the least Crucible stuff.
