There's a Raid Scout Rifle which has Thermal. I got two from two raids.
You mean solar? Yeah I got that and the AR with void. Mentioned those before the post you quoted. I meant other than the scout/solar, AR/void, shotgun/arc, sniper/void, and HMG/void I wasn't sure what else there was.

Know there is at least another rocket launcher (Hezen's Revenge).

There's a pulse rifle, I believe it's arc.

Eh, a few of those dont apply to me:/ I tried asking for help on RaidGAF last night for VoG or Nightfall and didnt get one response. Not one.

Must've pissed off the whole forum simultaneously:(

Ask again. It's easy for posts to get lost in the noise :P

If you're on PS4 add me: MrChowderClam

Add me. I'll lend a hand if I'm online: psn kojirospath. Will mostly be online on saturday but might be on between 19.00 gmt+2 and 22.30 gmt+2 mo-fri. Just send me a message.

I'm derping out here. I'm the king of posting without adding relevant details. On my phone no less. I'm an xbox guy. Thanks though! :)...:(

27 hunter. Have mic, will talk.

Ok, I did the Hard mode of the raid last night with my group, and we made it all the way to the gatekeeper part before we called it a night. What made me happy though was that another piece of raid gear dropped for me, boots, so now all I need is the chest piece and I can reach level 30.

RNG, pls be good to me when I go and finish the hard mode Raid later tonight. Pls don't give me duplicate gauntlets or boots, don't give me the helm either, that spot is already covered by an exotic, just pls give me the chestpiece. Pls!!!!!

I randomly ran into a RaidGAF member in PvP. He was on the opposing team. I got killed. a lot. probably my worst crucible match on record.

So is it the group for the best of the best of the best? The cream of the crop, if you will, of Destiny PVE and PVP?

If so I'm gonna withdraw my request to join... On the other hand it may give me lots of big tough guys to hide behind.

Sure, but PvP is already a clusterfuck with exotics and supers as it is. Having 4 armors on everybody would make it a mess IMO. I think Bungie made the right decision limiting it to one piece.

But pvp is already a mess so adding it would make it that bad since most player wouldn't have them.

I asked this last night but I don't believe I got a response, but on the subject of light and armor, what is the light upgrade sequence for normal Legendary gear?

Is it +2, 2, 1, 2, 2 for each Defense upgrade or something different? Where is the +1 in the upgrades?

The only pattern I could find for non-legendary armor is that unlocking all of the the non-shard defense upgrades takes you from 18 to 22, and unlocking all of the shard defense upgrades takes you from 22 to 27.

There seems to be some random variety in the individual upgrades, but the totals are always the same.

I hate how almost every high level titan looks the same.

As a Titan, this annoys the hell out of me as well. High level Titan players, and Warlocks and Hunters from what I've seen, all seem to be rolling with the chatterwhite shader, so I purposefully stay the hell away from it, in an attempt to look unique.

damn right, how do I join. you know if you hang with better people you get better. Its science! :P

Speaking of RaidGAF, there were a few of us trying to get set up in the clan to do the strike/raid clan trophies, but I hadn't heard back on the request to join?

Is there anything else I need to do to get set up with it as my clan? I've been in GAF NA East 3 since the Beta but it doesn't seem like anyone uses it.

We gotta sign up through the clan topic here on GAF? I'm in one GAF clan but its pretty dead and low in numbers compared to the Raid one.

Yeah, this is my issue. Do I need to do anything else besides send the request in order to be approved for setting RaidGAF as my PSN clan tag?

Really sorry to anyone I couldn't group with last night! Squall I'm particularly sad I missed your message when I was running Tiger Strikes :( Next time!

Had a great and productive night, tons of fun, and got everything I wanted done- ran the Nightfall again with a couple GAFers that still needed it, ran the Weekly Strike legit (cheesy method this week is soooo cheesy), dominated some Crucible with darthbob and toasty, and went to work on the Tiger Strike playlist. I can cut through level 24 strikes like butter now; even left solo they go quickly. The anti-damage-sponge patch will realllllllly make it so these can be obliterated quickly.

At some point I realized I had enough both Vanguard marks and Crucible marks to get a legendary weapon apiece. Did a bit of research but just had to crash after sleepwalking my way through the last strike of the night- so on a little break here at work I used remote play to buy:
Trading up to the world of legendary primaries, The Devil You Know is what I'll be rocking when Hawkmoon is holstered. It's a workhorse all around, but the Crowd Control mod from the vendor version makes it especially great for general PvE play.

With the Crucible marks, I sprung for 77 Wizard. I had heard great things about it from you GAF guardians, and it being Void made it a no brainer. This let me complete one of my personal mini-goals:
I call them The Three Tenors. Plan C gets the solo this week in the Nightfall.

I know that many disagree quite a bit, but I personally reject the idea that getting my guns this way is less legitimate or interesting than randomly finding them pop out of a monster. I earned my marks by doing strikes, daily story missions, public events, weekly challenges, Crucible matches- in other words, playing the damn game- and then I chose two of the exact items I wanted for my collection and bought them. These guns are rad and it feels good. I can understand the other side- that it's "boring" to buy your gear or that "everyone will have the same stuff," but it feels rewarding to have earned useful gear concretely through play and it certainly didn't feel boring when I realized I had enough marks on me for a weapon from each vendor. I was like a kid in an FAO Schwarz checking out those toys.

As for the "everyone having the same stuff" aspect, I have some theories on that- but it might be less of a concern than you think. Although the game DESPERATELY needs visual transmutation. The concept that every endgame character with raid gear will look the same except shader, chosen exotic piece and class item is terribly disappointing. Bungie pls giff transmutation thx >:D

I'm in the middle of three new guide posts right now which I hope will help out some of the people roughly around where I am in the progression. One is the final part of my leveling guide, which I started writing after realizing that I'm personally in no rush to hit 30 as quickly as possible. The second is a simple "What Type of Destiny Player Are You?" checklist with suggestions on how Bungie expects one might play Destiny each week at different activity levels. The third is Tips and Tricks Vol. 3, which will have a couple tips relevant to endgame as well as one or two for brand new players.

From my 8 strikes last night, I got 1 strange coin, 9 blue drops, 10 blue engrams, and another 4 blue engram drops for a total of 14. I haven't decrypted these yet and am not expecting much- but I will say that at the very least, Tiger Strikes are now a fantastic way for players level 21-23 to get to 24. The Queen's stuff is easier while it's still around, but remember that she disappears on Monday, Oct. 6.

[snip]

This might be kind of lengthy, but I figured I'd try to spell out how a successful endgame loot system works. I wish I knew how WoW's works, but since TOR is literally WoW with lightsabers, I can't imagine it being so different.

RNG has a place, but I don't think RNG shouldn't be the only way to get gear from Destiny's raids. Despite this, a way to work with this would be to have a timed trade system implemented where once someone gets loot in a Fireteam within a Raid or Strike, people have a limited amount of time to trade loot with the people within the Fireteam. Games that implement this I've played have the time limit set to over an hour to about three or four. Once the time limit has been reached, the loot is bound to the player and cannot be traded.

With how Destiny currently works with RNG drops, you'd think such a system would at least exist.
I would love a trade system with players and even some of the vendors. Bungie wanted to make the Cryptarch more interesting, but they went about it in the wrong way. Having to barter or sweeten the deal with Inventory/gear would make ANY of the vendors far more interesting, especially if he/she/robot could turn you away if they had too much of a particular item you wanted to trade.

Yep that's the sequence. If I had to guess it is intentional to keep players stuck at Level 25 for their first week of the game.

In order to bypass the Level 25 barrier a player would need another legendary, 12 ascended shards or an exotic. Without massive RNG luck or a special event none of those things will happen during week one.

I'll get to you lol. There's a lot of requests. Bungie's UI doesn't really help out.

Also, I think the clan limit has been extended.

Ah, thank you! I just wasn't sure i was even doing it correctly lol. Will def be looking to raid all weekend... taking off work Monday too... must get raid set.

We gotta sign up through the clan topic here on GAF? I'm in one GAF clan but its pretty dead and low in numbers compared to the Raid one.

Nah, just ask for approval and I'll get you in.

I might need to approve officers or something eventually so they can do this job lol.

Also I spoke too soon, too many people are in the clan. Damn bungie.

Join as members so you can be in the clan whenever you want. It's kinda neat how flexible you can be between clans, but that still doesn't alleviate the fact this limit sucks and clans are kinda useless.

In The Old Republic, we currently have commendations. There are Elite Commendations and Ultimate Commendations.

That does sound like a better system. But it also sounds complicated.

Destiny hasn't shy'd away from complicated (i.e. factions) but RNG is the juvenile way of dealing with loot.

Loot should be scaled to the enemy, not the character killing the enemy. In Borderlands 2, you beat the game at level 50. Restart in new mode... first level in the game the enemies are level 50 and you do it all over again.

Destiny could allow you to select difficulties for EVERYTHING. You want to farm the loot cave? Okay, fire up the level 28 cosmodrone patrol and get to it.

I've just joined the group. Is there an official chat for it as there is with the DestinyGAF clan?

After giving me a legendary engram my first week, nightfall has been very kind to me. Best rewards in the game IMO.

Dayum Son. With that kind of range you can one shot the
heart of the Vex
from the cosmadrome. Game Over!

*spoiler is end game stuff

I'm starting to lose interest in the game finally. Only after hitting level 30 and already having the weapons I wanted, I don't really know what to do anymore.

PvP isn't good enough to keep me from coming back.

I'll have you know that the game was extremely kind to me last night as well. I leveled up to Vanguard 3 and, lo and behold, got the Shadow Price as my reward. This is the gun I wanted and was about to buy from the Vanguard Quartermaster. So that made up for my Nightfall loot debacle two nights ago. I then went and bought the Epitaph sniper with the marks I had hoarded. Then I turned in a bounty and got an exotic bounty in return. On my way to get the Invective. I am holding off on doing it just in case Xur has the Ice Breaker this weekend.

Play other stuff until December.

So..what's the consensus on this game? I really enjoyed the alpha/beta even though I'm not that big into fps games. Also, I haven't seen an OT move as quickly as this one so it seems to me that it's good enough to pick up?

So if I'm a member already but apparently it's too late to set it as my PSN clan, would it still work for the trophies? Even if my clan tag in game is still set for GAF NA East 3?

Sorry to bother but there were a few guys trying to link up now for at least the strike trophy, maybe the raid.

Shadow of Mordor, Alien isolation, The Evil Within, Farcry 4 etc... until the Iron Banner opens and the first DLC drops.

Just of of curiosity how many hours in are you?

It has solid mechanics but a nonexistent story, reptitive boring content throughout all 4 worlds, PvP netcode is ass juice but despite all that, it's very addicting.

Obviously Destiny needs a lot of improvements: between the loot acquisition and the actual loot itself, Bungie has a lot to do. They need to make all loot valuable in some form and they need to make sure progress isn't blocked by luck. Getting to level 30 should be guaranteed for anyone that wants to seek the challenge.

Eh imo Destiny is a mediocre game that does look and sound really good and the shooting feels great but everything else is lacking.

Nice. Epitaph is Arc I believe I saw, right? That'll rock the Nightfall this week if you go back in to help anyone. And worrrrd Shadow Price looks great.
