Can anyone tell me what the minimum amount of Shards is in order to hit Level 28 with all normal Legendary's and an Exotic piece?

You need your Exotic at +30, which means (if I recall correctly) 3 upgrades at 8 shards each. That's 24 right there. I'm not 100% on that though; it might've been 6 for each?

You'll also need to upgrade one of your Legendaries twice at the last column (or two of your Legendaries once, whatever) using Shards at 6 each.

That means, if my memory is working right, 30-36 Ascendant Shards for Level 28.

Just got this for completing Nightfall.

Gotta love how the game shows me how cool it would look combined with my Third Man helmet. But I have to choose which one to wear, it's fucking heartbreaking

Tbh: Any Warlock going into the Raid using Sunsinger is a chicken shit and less effective too---especially on the final boss.

It's a million more times useful to get into the Vault if you can drop Nova Bomb on Minotaurs, and when you do the templar it's a great super for saving you from the Pretorian Minotaurs as well if things get jam packed.

Yeah it's nice you can revive yourself...but stop dying to begin with. Once that's taken away you have a useless super that just sits there you don't burn.

On the boss it's amazing in Raid to drop a Nova bomb right away on any harpy's left over by a gate so everyone can pump the boss easy, then you too can sling a few more supers the bosses away which add up to good damage.

Sunsinger sucks in PvP IMO, but that's debatable.

I'll take a Hunter over a Lock any day just for Golden Gun.....but Titan my Titan is the bomb diggity fresh as far as PvE content. Dem over shields. <3

More power to you on all that since you seem pretty convinced. I will say if there are any supplicants left over at a gate, then there's another problem...but if a nova bomb is a direct solution to that problem, then by all means keep doing you.

I could add you and then message you if we ever need someone. You on Xbox?

Fuck. Xbox? Dammit. Nah, PS4 here.

exotics only have two upgrade slots that need shards, as shown above

You don't have a purely offensive super... So you're not going to do as much damage as the other classes and specs.
you can make up bulk dps on bosses with weapons of light and a sniper with high impact, and if using a striker the fist of havok wave is 10 times better then just a regular smash, stuff like void and golden gun is going to beast but I don't think a Titan is that far behind, not that I've now played daily for 3 weeks or so.

for sure no way they can not do at least 15% of a boss, using a good gun works for every class.

Just to confirm, here's our group
PS4 Normal Mode Vault of Glass 9:00PM EST
1. Hawkian
2. Squall ASF
3. mostwantedzero
4. NarcissisticJay
5. pyrandes
6. Palom12

Please make sure to post or preferably PM me if you can't make it so I can let one of the alts know.

Between the 6 of us, who has/hasn't done the raid before? I've done up to the first boss :P

Alts are LiK, Union Carbide, and leehom

Trying to send/accept FRs. Gah. PSN is really functioning poorly for me.

beaten the final boss but nvr run through the entire raid.

I think some do this because they've done the same strike in the last run, and don't want to repeat it. I did Winter's Run (via Vanguard Tiger) with two randoms, and it came up again in the next strike. The two randoms went back to orbit immediately.

Precisely this. I went ahead and did a repeat Strike with my Fireteam once. We waited for the 3rd......and it was the same one, again.

Exotics are 8 shards, not 6.

Source: I am currently 3 light away from 28 and am in need of 8 shards to finish off my exotic chest upgrade.

I feel like the latest patch affected the raid chests. There was one raid chest in particular that would give legendary and exotic weapons to a few people, but now that ascendant materials are legendary, all anyone got from that chest was shards. I know that those are valuable, blah blah blah, but it was nice to actually have a chance to get a weapon from that chest before.

Also, I did a vanguard tiger strike last night and didn't notice a difference in terms of engram drops during the strike. If anything they were all green. I guess I did get two encrypted blues at the end, so that's better than getting a piece of blue gauntlets or something.

I would lol if The Last Word is being sold tomorrow. Whatever it's being sold tomorrow, I hope I don't get it as a reward an hour later like I did with SUROS last week. I wasted 23 Strange Coins for nothing.

I hear, guardian down, few seconds later guardian down, big flashy message on my screen saying last guardian standing, no pressure.
game nails this IMO. it's like YEAH TAKE CARE OF THAT WILL YA GUARDIAN

I want that for one of my builds, it's what I'm hoping Xur has.

The exotic preview thing makes me flash back to this quirk from Guild Wars 1. You're only allowed one Elite skill on your bar, but when out hunting for them there's a signet that takes up a slot on your bar too. After you capture the skill, you can have two elite skills on your bar until you hit town again and one gets removed. Fun stuff.
Question...

If you do the 6 Strange Coin Weekly (not Nightfall) ... can you still claim the 3 other coins?
By then doing the 28, yes. Best approach is to just to the 28 and get all 9 at once.

I gave Pocket Infinity another shot. On second thought it's pretty OP in PVP, but still requires a certain level of proficiency to keep its recoil under control.

EDIT: Once I switched to hip firing it clicked.

I dunno if it was patched yet, but I believe Bungie mentioned how they were going to take away the opportunity to get more daily rewards by increasing the difficulty after already beating it on a lower difficulty.

Yep. It's ridiculous but not completely no-skill either. Still recommend perfect balance

On certain maps with tight chokepoints it does turn into a bit of a Fusion people blender, though

edit: oh yes. 80% of the time it's fired from the hip

I try to stretch my hands and fingers every time there is a loading screen. As for raiding, avoid using carpal tunnel guns like semi auto or burst fire guns, go auto rifle or vision of confluence.

It's the only Exotic I want, and would live my PvE and PvP life by.

Must get. :(

Well, we can all dream but I think it's more likely to be a special weapon this time based on how things went in the previous weeks. I'd be very happy if it's the Icebreaker though.

You can. Unlike the daily heroic story, each of the 3 level tiers in weekly heroic strike gives 3 coins + any unearned coins from previous tiers.

Just guessing... were you the only hunter?

Nah we had 2 of each class. The other guy did fine also. Just good communication and cheesing in certain parts. Our warlocks went void on Templar while cheesing him, and other than that they were sunsinging. One Titan was defender while the other was striker. Myself and the other hunter were gunslinging the entire time except for Gorgons, just to have the extra sprint. We didn't bother invising really.

So you recommend using the stability upgrade instead of the increased mag size, then?

I will kills the Pretorian with 3-4 grenades... it is not that much different from the Nova Bomb.

IMO Sunsingers deal more damage than Voidwalkers to bosses... the Sunsinger super deal more damage.

The fact that the sunsinger gauntlets were up for 2 weeks in a row makes me think it's just completely random.

What was your specific loadout? I assume Gunslinger? What other perks did you choose?

oh report on vanguard tiger runs tonight, only did 4, I found a purple and another random found one in another match.

it's still full on rng but I'm feeling a lot better about engrams now then ever before, still finding blues dropped by mobs same as always.

Finally saved up 150 vanguard points and oh man... Shadow Price, where have you been all my life, and it's finally time to retire Shingen-E, you've been a faithful servant since I hit level 20, but holy shit enemies are reacting to every bullet I shoot.

I dunno if it was patched yet, but I believe Bungie mentioned how they were going to take away the opportunity to get more daily rewards by increasing the difficulty after already beating it on a lower difficulty.

I don't think it was patched, because I just did it with someone who had already done level 24 version and got 3 strange coins for his troubles.

Me too. The patch did good , imo.

Yep- exactly. As much raw joy as the "true" full auto with 8 rounds can be, Perfect Balance REALLY reduces the recoil- so you can make the 3 shots count, even if it's all you have. You can treat it as a Fusion Pulse Rifle- if you don't kill with the 3-blast, something has gone horribly wrong and you probably deserve to die. Reloading after each fire isn't a big deal when every inch of organic matter in the room has been incinerated. edit: Of course you can still just fire off one or two blasts when you know it's enough.

Of course, this does have me looking for an exotic with Special Weapon Reload speed boost to compliment it, and the only one I know of is the Ahkamara's Spine... so come on Xur.

the revive ability is not for the person to save themselves all the time. Its used to revive teamates who happen to die so the mission just doesn't end. Nova bomb and grenades help alot but when overwhelmed, it helps knowing it all wont fall apart.

Anyone up for weekly strike on X1? If you have the DestinyGaf clan tag even better for the achievement. Sitting in orbit right now.

GT: JRod2100

One grenade kill fully replenishes super energy (awesome)

Tripmine grenades last longer (meh)
Oh but doesn't it have reduce special weapon reload speed? D:

edit: these comments about Cryptarch mail are music to my ears. I was 1 for 8 on legendary engrams in those mail packs before the patch. The 2 legendary engrams I got out of the 1 good one were turned ingloriously into blues.

What was the level of you group? All 29?

Did you get rewards killing the bosses in hard after did the same in normal? I know the chests didn't back after get them in normal.

Wurzal the Warlock - Nigh-on Raid Ready (finally!).
Currently using Shingen-E / Strangers Rifle + Ice Breaker mostly, reckon I need a better primary (Legendary) for Raiding?
