Eh ended up buying the Saint 14 helm for my alt...I'll get those coins back mostly from one run of the weekly next week so it's all good.
 
Just did my first heroic strike today, and it was a lot harder than I thought it'd be. First started out with two people, then randomly, someone else from my friendslist joined when both of us died, and saved the day. Man those minions get really crazy on Heroic.

That legendary will drop anywhere regardless of how many mobs you kill. I'm not in strikes to farm enemies because there's better spots for that. I'm there to get to the weekly mark cap and maybe pick up some vanguard rep/faction rep. And with the droprate on legendaries being what it is I'm not holding my breath, so excuse me for just wanting the guaranteed reward as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Thanks for the info. I've found the 2 most reliable ones on the earth list are mothyards and skywatch. Those are definitely the most consistent.

I could see an argument for it in the Iron Banner when weapon damage actually matters.

Right now though, Armor is THE reson to roll Defender over Striker. If you're not using armor, you'd be better off with Hulk smash.
 
Some public events require at least one person in the zone 5 minutes before. The one in the Divide is always there is you follow that rule.

Definitely buying Helm of Saint-14! Will be my first Exotic, and the helmet is my only armour that's still stuck on Rare.

Already have an almost fully upgraded Legendary pulse rifle, don't really want another high powered pulse rifle, so I'll pass on Red Death.

Xur can get fucked if he think I'll ever buy an Exotic engram when chances are against me it'll just end up being for another class or maybe even a duplicate.
 
I guess it was the stationary part of the cave they didn't like?

Because instead of farming the cave from one spot, you have to farm mats in a circle.

Absolutely, but I do agree with him. The rate of fire is just too slow to compete with auto rifles. It doesn't hit hard enough to compensate for it's slow RoF. It remains to be seen how it will perform in the Iron Banner. It could be a real beast there.

Because I'm usually running a strike with purpose and I just want to get it done. Right now I'm doing Toland's Legacy, so there's no way I'm gonna kill everything every single time. I just want this shit done.

There are no exotic legs and only one gloves per class pre expansion.
 
I've leveled up vanguard to 5 and crucible to level 3, so I feel like I should just start doing one of the factions.

Anyone have thoughts on this?

I know you get guaranteed legendaries every time you level up past 3, but I feel it would be better to have a wider selection of weapons and gear to choose from
 
Ran the weekly 28 heroic strike with a buddy last night. He's a level 25 and I'm a level 27. Took us an hour and a half. We got thru it but man that was stressful. If either of us died we would just switch fire team leader and the dead one would go back to orbit and then join the game again while the live player would lay low. I've read that the Nightfall is actually easier than the 9 coin difficulty? I've never done Nightfall but figured we would use the same tactic for it over the weekend.

I must say I'm pleased with the patch! Doing the strike, I got the comedian, a legendary titan helm (hunter here), a couple blue engrams, some ascended energy or shards (can't remember) and completed my exotic bounty in the process. Can't complain about that!

Was able to buy the exotic sunbreaker gauntlets for Warlock from Xur. Looks pretty cool, and has a useful skill (reduces cooldown for Radiance).
 
I read that you get a strange coin for the first gold tier event you complete every day, but I got ascendant energy instead.

Am I not going to get one today from them or is it still possible? I only need one coin.
 
Nothing like dropping a level for equipping a new exotic. It isnt my fault this game is pushing me to buy the Sun Breakers and drop my Veil. So many shards needed...

Public event rewards can be any combination of motes of light, strange coins, or ascendant mats. There is a strange coin in one of the golden chests on Mars, if you haven't gotten that. Otherwise, your best bet is to decode as many engrams as you can and hope one of them produces a coin. My advice would be to run the Vanguard Tiger playlist for a couple of hours and see if you get lucky. You have until Saturday night 2 AM PST.

But wouldn't it be easier to do the low level Strikes from the planets or do they no count toward the bounty?

Does xur ever sell exotic weapon engryms, or just gear? First week that I've had enough motes to gamble for anything and I would rather save it for a weapon.

Nope. the patch could shake up the balance quite a bit. That being said, the Red Death still gets bested in it's own class. For instance, the "Fair and Square" another burst rifle. Not only does the Fair and Square have a higher RoF, it also hits very hard. You can kill someone in two bursts if you land head shots. So a AR nerf isn't going to make the Red Death shine.

That's what my Shingen E is for (the one that has increased stability actually written below as the bonus).

I think Red Death looks cool and I'm assuming the inevitable range nerf to auto rifles will make Red Death viable for PvE.

What are everyone's thoughts on Red Death?
 
Bought the Exotic Helm Engram, and got a warlock exotic, so I ended up buying the Hunter Helm, alts will come into a lot of light at 20.

Thinking of getting the Warlock gloves as well, only short 2 coins for them
