Ugh that happened to me yesterday. Hated that guy.
Funny story. I had two shifty teammates in The Nexus strike and was wondering why they were such deadweight. Turns out they wanted to try and force me to quit come time we reached the final boss. Unfortunately for them I know how to solo the boss. I didn't notice their message until later that night. Blocked them.

Well, one raid down. Two more to go. Anyone in the mood to raid right now? No experience required, I'll teach you the fights. Mic would be nice. PSN is Unstabieh2o - PS4

Question for the Higher-level Defender Titans:

Does a Suppression Grenade do anything against say a Strike Boss(i.e. stopping them from using abilities e.x. stopping them from using powerful melee)?

Seriously, 3 out of 4 weeks those ugly ass gloves.

Such unabated bullshit. It's specially hurting that other classes get a helm this week but warlocks.

For those of you that don't know, the raid helm only drops from hard mode, so the easy way to 30 requires an exotic helm.

Tried making a Titan alt but I play a little than switch back to my Warlock main because I like the style better and I dread the post level 20 grind. Thinking of using my two extra character slots to make two more Warlocks, get them to level 20, then trade my same exact gear back and forth so I can essentially do weekly stuff three times with the same character. Anyone do this currently?

A lot of people do this. The problem with this is that it really limits replay value. Sure, you can get to level 30 a week or two faster, but to what end? I think having all 3 classes at level 20+ is best since all drops will be usable by you. I already have a hunter at 28 and a titan at 27. My little warlock is only level 9.

I wonder if it stacks with nightfall exp bonus?

next phase of my juju bounty is PvP I think it would do good for 30min of crucible.

Ah, it should! I'll do some testing. Does anyone know the multiplier on the nightfall to begin with? I need to figure that out before I can get the correct multiplier.

I was in the middle of a tiger strike boss fight when my doorbell rang, and I had to answer it and talk to someone for 10 minutes. when I came back the firefight was still ongoing, and we finally beat the boss. After the mission ended the random's I was playing with decided to shoot at me for the entire 30 seconds until the mission was over...

Should've moved that e-booty to the vibration.

See my above suggestion, I don't think it would be too tricky to implement at all. The appearances are skins and are never modified except by shaders. The hardest part would be remembering the "base item" appearance so that this could be disabled in PvP where recognizing exotics has strategic value.

Diablo 3 with far far more legendaries has it so I hope Bungie can put it in too especially with the limited selection of legendaries they have.

Well I never dealt with this kind of system - so call me ignorant. Either way, Bungie has my rifle.

Does anyone else's ps4 copy of Destiny still show the price on its icon. Can still play the game of course but there's a weird option to buy the game (same thing with Don't Starve but that's playable as well)

PSN issue?

Nah, this is certainly a concern (and my biggest problem with progression at this point), because is busting the 20+ shards on a shirt you're gonna scrap a fair trade off for running just normal raid once weekly?
That's the thing, if you want to only be running the normal raid weekly, then there's rather literally no reason to progress beyond 28. If you want to be running the normal and hard raid weekly, say starting this week, you need to grind out the mats for hitting 29 with your current setup.
I dunno about you but if it wasn't for abuse of Queen DEs on the first couple days there, I'd have, if I'm lucky, 8 shards total.
Well, do bear in mind that acquisition rate will accelerate:
  • As you fill more slots with Legendaries that you want to keep, each legendary drop you get in those slots is either for an alt, or shards
  • Ditto with the gear from marks; marks need to be spent, but you'll likely have gear in the slots you can buy them for that's the same or better. Buy and turn into shards.
  • Daily Heroic Story at 28 is 2 guaranteed mats a day- per character. Nightfall has a chance for ~10 ascendant materials per week, per character. Marks are per character. The more endgame alts you have, the more total shards you can acquire in a week.
  • Even Xur's stuff can be dismantled for shards if you don't need anything else you'd want to spend coins on.

It's possible to control your own progression and hit 29, but not possible to do so for level 30. Is it worth it to hit 29, though? Totally up to the individual and their plans.
For me it was either not using my shards and staying at 27/28 and only being able to do the raid once a week on normal. Or using the shards and getting to 29 so I can do the hard raid and therefore double my chances every week. Luckily I got a shit ton from the queens wrath before they fixed the easy shard farming. So it was kind of a freebie level gain for me.

It is ridiculous I haven't gotten one piece of raid gear yet. This is pretty much the biggest issue with this game.
exactly, this is what I'm talking about all around. You can't control when you get to 30, but you can control getting to 29, which lets you run the hard mode raid reasonably.

I'm pretty pleased with old Xur today. Missed out on Sunbreakers before so I picked them up and I took the exotic helmet engram lottery and won the Skull of Dire Ahamkara. Pretty neat

Does the same thing for all physical copies of a game for me. They will keep asking you to buy digital ver.

Had my best run of luck so far yesterday and bagged The Calling and Purifier VII from random drops. I love Scout Rifles so I'm pretty chuffed with The Calling.

Hoping to do the Nightfall strike later on and may have to enlist some help from the GAF community. If anyone happens to be doing it and needs an extra body, I'm happy to get involved.

PSN is my-name-is-marks and I'm a level 26 Warlock.

I'm already in the GAF EU clan

I can't right now but I'll join you in a few hours if you haven't done it yet.

Alternatively, I'm looking for a group to run a raid at around 5 or 6 eastern. Let me know if any groups are forming up. I've already finished the raid a few times so I know the fights.

Can't believe you're going again lol. That boss fight was exhausting. I think I started losing my voice. :p

So happy, got Bad Seed Down out of a blue engram today. First legendary weapon ^_^

I have collected a bunch of equipment for other classes so far. I got my Hunter to 20 yesterday and all the extra shit in the vault boosted her up to 25 instantly.

I don't remember ever seeing this gear. Where was it?

good question. I have the manifold seeker helm and it's level 16. so I would guess lv 16 strikes.

Why would they do that?

The world first to level 30 did this with 3 hunters.

Man, Warlocks get Sunbreaker's 3/4 times, but this is the first week that I have enough coins to buy gear and all I want is the Third Man. Bring it back next week, Bungie.

Aside from that awesome PS-exclusive helmet posted earlier on this page, the Third Man is the only Hunter helmet I really like.

Was disappointed with what Xur had to sell this weekend. Got my 23rd Mote of Light and decided to go ahead and buy the engram and I got the helmet I wanted for my hunter... the Mask of the Third Man.

YAY! Now I might just waste my coins on buying my titan ANOTHER exotic helm for when I play Defender...

Opt-in-mute is reactive. You have to hear something first to want to mute someone.
What Bungie did was proactive. You just can't hear anything useful OR hurtful because there's no voice chat between randoms at all.

So your analogy would be like burning down the house BEFORE you got bugs, because you MIGHT get bugs in your house someday.

Yup.

And its still a dumb decision. Interacting with others in a social game is important. I love meeting new people online, I love the trashtalk that can happen in competetive matches. If someone is being annoying I mute them. It's awesome.

I hope this doesn't become a future trend in multiplayer games. Especially with the focus on interconnected social gaming next gen seems to have.

I really hope a bunch of people opt in when it gets released for Destiny. It would be awesome if it worked outside of crucible and strikes. Like seeing someone in one of the public spaces in the world and being able to talk to them. Ask them what mission/strike their doing. Hell if you two are doing the same thing you can join up.

That's kind of what I envisioned the social aspect of destiny being like...

Yeah for some silly reason you only get rewarded the first time you complete the Daily. Choose wisely...

Hmmm didn't know that but I've been soloing them on level 28 every day to reap max benefits in one go but that is really good to know, although it makes zero sense.

I'll probably be doing it a third time today by then or I've died of exhaustion. Either way I'll put you on the short list.

Yeah, I fully understand. My perspective is just an alternate take on how to spend a few limited hours a week and getting the payoff for it. I really wish there was other methods for folks to progress, because if feels like everyone in this thread is stuck at this point.

Marks bust my balls a bit because I can't stand the PVP in this game at all, so I'm feeling limited considering it means half the bounties/marks/vendors are sort of off my plate.

I would be ok with a mark exchange mechanism of some sort, even if it's 2:1, for turning vanguard crap into crucible crap.

So I have a question for all the Warlock players out there. How do you have your classes set up?

With Vortex I set it up for toughness at all costs, nova bomb with big radius (not split), vortex first granade, and nova bomb chip damage as long as people stay in the vortex.

For Sunslinger I set it up for toughness at all costs, first fire granade, self revive, burn damage after hit and wider radius.

How do you have it set up. Is the split Nova Bomb worth it?

We should probably make a leveling guide. I feel we're getting certain strategies down-pat, like doing the bounties while doing heroic versions of story missions. Another thing to point is how quickly this goes when you're partying with someone else who's at a high level.

There's a benefit to this when the fireteam can mix and match bounties with a lowbie who needs to do story missions.

Then there's the whole notion of having an exotic headpiece will save you tons of heartache in the future when it comes to raid gear and hitting level 30.

On top of all this, when it comes to leveling alts, your grimore bonuses come into play apparently, but I haven't noticed the difference in using unlocked bonuses for weapons and using weapons you haven't gotten the bonuses for yet.

Then there was what v3tro mentioned about how XP is split between pieces of gear that aren't maxed out yet.
