TLW's fire rate is absurd
imo - between the hawkmoon and TLW, not a single legendary handcannon is worth talking about
I use TLW for all content, from nightfalls to raids, no complaints at all. Shoots so much faster and that hip fire bonus is awesome. It's regarded as one of the best exotics.

Oh, I've received nothing outside of the marks or whatever else you get. Nothing that would fit the description of the Cryptarch Engram. Maybe this is like a bug or something?

After you said that, I checked the patch notes, and it says engrams were added as potential rewards, but that's not how they play it out in game. For everything else, what's listed is what you get.

That symbol popped up on a patrol mission inside the % complete diamond and I really had my hopes up that I'd get an engram for completing the patrol...No such luck.

I'd play this all day...although I think special weapons should stay in, maybe just fewer ammo pickups. They are nerfing shotguns, ya know. Biggest thing for me would be no Supers. One fucking Super can cause a team that's considerably behind to win.

I'll probably be trying to get some crucible marks but if you need people invite me if I'm on. Gt is misterthirsty.
I got an engram at the end of the heroic mission along with Ass Energy during the countdown timer. It never showed up on the reward screen and I know I didn't pick it up from an enemy.

No, I don't think it's a chance thing, because that's not how it plays out in the game outside the Daily Heroic. If that logic held, you wouldn't just be getting ascendant energy over and over again.
I think it's a glitch.

Thanks to valy and moonflux, i've finally finished this pain in the ass Thorn mission. Has literally been a thorn in my side since the game wouldn't let me abandon the bounty. So that brings my total exotic weapon count to 8:

Now that you mention it, I do remember decrypting a boots engram, but not picking it up.
Maybe it's just not showing up in the rewards screen?

Last night I did get a blue engram drop from a kill, I wonder if that's why I didn't receive another at the reward screen. Maybe the game recognized I had already received one, or something.
They are, even though Cabal are just Space Marines with some elements of Ork. That being said, though, it does remind me....

Nah, Legendaries will always be worth talking about because when you're equipping an Exotic special or heavy weapon you can't have TLW or Hawkmoon equipped too. The Devil You Know, Lord High Fixer and Red Hand IX are all great guns.
That's all not to mention Fatebringer which is arguably one of the most useful guns in the entire game.
Efficient ways depend on what you want to do, pve or pvp. Fastest is PvP though.
Your goal is to get to 26. You want to do your Strikes and heroic daily missions. Keep doing these since you'll be able to get more rewards once you are able to do the Tiger missions.
I'd say if you hit around 25, you can get someone to partner up and do the weekly nightfall if you get leveled up enough by Tuesday. This week's is easy if you have arc weapons. You have a high chance at getting purple/exotic gear doing this.
Main thing though: get a rep level to 3 so you can have a vendor you can keep buying legendary stuff from when you need it.

Limiting to only one exotic is dumb and takes all the thrill out of getting an exotic.

So I played enough crucible to get to Rank 2 with the crucible handler ... around 140 matches.
I am extremely not good at crucible, it turns out. My k/d is currently 0.87 overall thanks to some terrible matches early on.
Anyway, yesterday, I was starting to think I turned the corner. I had gotten up to 1.0 k/d in control, and felt like I had figured things out when suddenly my opponents got much, much better. Every encounter I would die almost instantly, as in, see a guy on the radar, then *pow*, guardian down. That continued for the rest of the evening.
Is it matchmaking starting to work? Or did I just randomly run into much better players?

This is a misunderstanding of their role, you should be swapping exotics frequently and almost by necessity due to elemental Burns each week

What time do you play? I've noticed players get much better later at night after around midnight. All the sucky children are asleep, all the hardcore Destiny folk are out for blood.
To be honest, the exotics aren't powerful enough to even require such a restriction IMO. And they definitely aren't rare enough either.
It would be sick to have as many exotics equipped as we want - I think then we'd truly feel powerful and we'd begin to see insane levels of varied playstyles.
