Some of them are quite powerful already and some are getting buffed... I also feel like their rarity (or relative lack thereof) of is not an issue because of the restriction. You can't simply collect more and be more powerful in a vertical sense. Also plenty of players haven't seen their first yet :P

You're getting more powerful throughout the entire game in a vertical fashion since you're leveling and getting stronger at the same time, so that's moot.

Some of them are more powerful than others, and thankfully there will be some buffs to the subpar ones, but it's kind of a wack restriction mainly because you can literally collect exotics and stockpile them regardless of their rarity (that just means some folks will take longer than others). There's no context behind the restriction. It's just there for whatever reason we can come up with, and it's agreed upon that it's for balance - in both crucible and pve.

I find that to be hogwash. Balance shouldn't be a brick wall that's spread across the entire game. Balance, in its best form allows everyone to do whatever they want, and then work backwards from that point of 'feeling OP'. If folks want to play a more restrictive mode in crucible similar to the ones we have now, then of course keep them. For folks who want to run around with whatever insane gear they have, there's Iron Banner which honestly should be its own mode. At the moment, the only sense it makes to restrict players from using whatever gear they have whenever they want is because the 1 exotic weapon/1 exotic armor restriction was from being shortsighted or rushed in the designing of the game's several loops and systems, and that this was the easiest solution.

We don't know how gear is going to be handled in the future, but if weapons are going to yield a higher attack while the guns currently in this game are capped at 300, we're going to replace our legendaries and exotics anyway, so as far as moving up from purple-tier weapons and armor, we'd be replacing our gear with better stuff regardless - we just won't be doing it now.

As often as it's referenced in this thread, Diablo 3 is an example to look at how having ridiculous abilities at endgame can still allow the game to retain balance. You get to the point to where you're dealing millions of damage, and the highest tier of gear you equip releases characters from certain core gameplay restrictions, such as with the Wizard who has the ability to summon a mammoth hydra that shoots walls of fire. With some of this gear I've mentioned, the Wizard is able to summon two mammoth hydras instead of only one, yet the Wizard is just as ridiculous as the other four classes.

The insane damage and abilities make Diablo 3 considerably easy for the most part, until you crank up the difficulty into the higher Torment levels where the game is trying its hardest to murder players and does a good job for the most part.

Destiny has the potential to get to this level, if Bungie does decide to go this route, but I can't say they will since it's unclear what this game's future holds as far as upcoming content and the changes they'll bring. IMO, Destiny has the right idea with exotic bounties. Like right now I have to get 10k guardian kills. That sounds ridiculous and that's because you'd think an exotic weapon would be ridiculous, however it's for Bad Juju I think and that gun is laughable at the moment. Same with Thorn, which is conceptually the kind of weapon that should be exotic and rightfully deserves the upcoming buff it'll receive. Thorn has an exotic bounty as well that has you fight a secret boss. That's the kind of stuff we should be doing for every exotic in the game. But no, our exotic gear are gotten through RNG. All of them, considering how random exotic bounties are to obtain and how we gotta hope Xur has whatever we're looking for on sale every Friday and Saturday.

Right now, the restriction on exotic gear has little reason to be in place. The only legitimate explanations supporting it have to do with people not having them or any, or keeping them from tearing up in the Crucible's current modes. While these are valid for the present state of the game, I don't think this should last past what we're playing in Destiny now.

I love Public Events. I was playing a strike, Winter's Run, with Mr. Famicom, and right before we entered the caves, a public event appears out of nowhere. It was a Devil Walker! We then rallied to victory over that alien machine.

Me too.

I found out the times on Earth, so it's less magical. But any other planet, searching for mats, I LOVE bumping into public events.

Anyone up for Nightfall right now? Need one more, no voice chat. PSN --> Reedfgjj

With the restriction in place, large amounts of gear that would otherwise be useless is now useful at end-game. It forces people to pick and choose their loadout instead of everyone using the same load out each time.

I puke a little when people say Exotics are too common, considering I've been playing daily since launch, am level 28 and have yet to see an Exotic or Exotic bounty(outside of the ones you can buy from Xur).

Yep! 27, 2 Legendary engrams dropped total for me since launch, 3 more from leveling cryptarch.... I dont have a legendary weap yet (trying to lvl vanguard to purchase one)

Perhaps a solution to increasing max light level later:

Make legendary items stay at level 20, but allow exotics to 'level up' with you, similar to how Heirlooms work in WoW, if you are familiar.

That way, we have to grind again for level and more legendary gear, but our exotics scale with us.

I'd see this be a problem if everyone had the same exotics, which in the current state of the game, this would be the case. However, I'm not seeing why we can't have multiple exotics put in the game, and be difficult as hell to obtain but not reliant on RNG.

Or just enable the third subclass, to level up 20 new levels.

they should do what dragons dogma did and have whatever gear your wearing at the time you kill a certian enemy (dragon :) your gear can lvl up in a totally different way more light more damage whatever.

I'll try to post this every few pages.

Aww man I wish you get the MIDA. it's heavenly.

Definitely. Skill is obvs a bit of it but level is so so important. I'm kind of glad I waited till 29 to try it, although I still feel really nooby when I'm with people that have done it loads of times already. That damn jumping puzzle... And I still don't know what happens either inside the portal during the pre Atheon bit or outside of the portal during Atheon.

That's the one. I have the A.1F.... one and its nice though.

SON OF A BITCH!

I KNEW I should have waited one more week for Xur to have the Symbiote helmet. I bought the knucklehead one he had last week.

Guess I'll have two exotic helmets on my hunter then.

Both serve a great purpose. Knuckle for PvP and Symbiote for raids/PvE.

If anyone is doing the normal Raid today, feel free to add me. I'll be home but not necessarily online, but the request should go to my phone.

I'm picking up my ps4 bundle in just a couple of hours, and I couldn't be more excited. Not sure what class I am going to go with yet. Any tips or advice when getting started?

Warlock has a self-resurrect Super ability. It's amazing for Raids and Heroic/Nightfall strikes. If I weren't already playing Titan I'd pick a Warlock for sure.

Nightfall strike tips for this week? We tried and failed. Moved on to the weekly heroic, and knocked that out.

Where did you fail? The first room you can skip, an Arc sniper is going to be very helpful for the tank. After the tank you can skip the room right before the boss, both times I did it I just hid behind the boxes behind the ramp in the left corner (the corner opposite from where you enter). From the boxes there is a crack in the left side that allows you to shoot the shield guys from the side (if they aim their shields at the other 2 cracks). Make sure to kill everything in sight before getting out once the boss moves to the other side of the room.

Okay, my third raid today. Anyone want to join up? No experience required, I'll teach you the fights. A mic would be nice but not required. PSN is UnstabieH2o -PS4

So I was waiting on this game and decided to jump in (PS4 - Arthr2ShdsJcksn)

I picked up my copy at lunch today and hopefully will spend most of the weekend going through the main campaign.

I played the alpha and beta, but is there anything I should pay attention to/avoid so that I can get to the end-game fairly quickly?

Woo! I instantly went from 20 -> 24 on my Titan. I am quite the mess though because I have a mix of exotics, legendaries, greens and whites haha.

I can't settle on which of my four exotic pieces to use and level up. Someone with more Titan experience decide for me ouuta there? :D

Helm of Saint-14
An Insurmountable Skullfront
Crest of Alpha Lupi
The Armamentarium
