Can't remember which but Nightfall or Weekly gives 400 rep for Vanguard. Also doing some beacon patrols can give a bit if you stick with it for an hour. Some are 25 rep while most are 10 rep.

Really? I've done the Weekly one. Was pretty easy Haven't cleared Nightfall yet cause I'm switching gear. Went from an Exotic Chest to Helmet. Dropped from nearly 28 to 26...

Yes they do, legendary gear (helmet, arms, legs and torso) will give you 2-3 shards each. All except the Queen's rewards.

Wasn't sure, that is why I specified the pieces that generate shards. Cloaks, bonds, and toilet rolls do not generate shards (in my experience anyway.)

Last words of advice?

Communications are needed for certain bits especially the last stage. You will need to be in groups of 2 or 3 so best to discuss who should be with who. Maybe sort it out by class. You wouldn't want 3 Hunters together and 3 Titans. Mix them up so all abilities can be used.

But it's not that bad to be honest, just keep a heads up on the radar towards the final area. I didn't find it hard compared to Nightfall but more awkward due to miscalculations and timing.

They were giving Shards but Bungie quickly fixed it. I managed to to get around 10 I think.

Get an Arc fusion rifle (nightfall is arc burn right now). Repeat the room right before the first darkness zone over and over. I got it done in 30 minutes using a Light/Beware with over-penetrate.

Not sure about that. I don't care about Pulse Rifles, so the only choice is the Super Good Advice anyway. But I don't intend on wasting my single exotic weapon slot on a heavy weapon. I could take any of those three and dismantle it for shards. Hmm. Nah, I'd rather not.

I'm now cryptarch level 32 and the last time I got a legendary engram for leveling my cryptarch level was when I turned 20. Did bungie nerf the cryptarch gifts cause people were farming blues? I just get a lot of blue drops cause I play a lot. Kind of sucks if you ask me
