Nintendo Downloads - October 2014

I meant including the DS games, presumably they'll come along too as soon as Nintendo actually releases that emulator. I don't have those either.
Oh, well, in that case... From the DS Castlevanias, I like Order of Ecclesia the best, then Dawn of Sorrow, then Portrait of Ruin. Of the ones on GBA, Aria of Sorrow is the one I like the best, Circle of the Moon is good and I haven't played Harmony of Dissonance (but I'm sure it's also good). But this is just what I like and doesn't really mean anything since they're all such great games anyway.

Since you asked in what order to play them, keep in mind that Dawn of Sorrow (DS) is a sequel to Aria of Sorrow (GBA), but it doesn't really matter all that much. If you plan on playing all of them, I would just do them in order. If not, then you can't go wrong with Order of Ecclesia, Aria/Dawn of Sorrow and Rondo of Blood.

Heh, I guess this wasn't of much help after all!

So in Gunvolt should I just stick to the hydra (I think--the 5 shot/charge shot gun) or is there a point to most guns? It seems gun damage is always complete peanuts compared to shots, so number of tags seems like almost the only relevant gun feature. I only have 3 so far though, but wonder if I'm using them wrong or something.

Knowing none are poor enough to be skipped is helpful too

eShop music is killing me with guilt, I came on just to put $60 away for Bayonettas

but I have yet to purchase Hyrule Warriors, next month I'll get it
maybe Jan 2015 need all DLC reveals

Yeah, gun damage isn't very important but I still shoot at enemies all the time anyway. It's gotta help some, right? Tags is where it's at for real damage. Keep in mind that you can only tag one enemy a certain amount of times, more than that is only useful when fighting multiple enemies at the same time.

I don't know if I have all the guns, but here goes nothing. Cerberus, the first, is useless after you get another gun of course. Mizuchi didn't get much use from me, it seemed troublesome. The one you mention must be Naga, or at least I never got one called Hydra. In any case, Naga is good until you get Orochi, which auto-fires in seven directions with every shot and allows 8 tags. I never liked using Technos since its two-way shot seemed useless except in specific situations that I never found myself in, and it allows only two tags. Vasuki is the one I use the most because it's got a homing shot that lets you tag enemies you're not even aiming at, as long as you hit a target with your first shot. This is very useful, except for when you need more precision or want to avoid hitting a certain enemy (one particular boss fight is a real pain in the butt with this gun). Vasuki lets you tag 4 times, and that's enough for me. Then there's Dullahan, which turns the whole thing into a more traditional Mega Man-esque game, with no tags and actual shot damage that's worth something.

Have you been making accessories? Get the Boost Band ring (preferably the "plus" version) as soon as you can if you want to double jump. If you think Prevasion (that thing that lets you avoid damage if you're not attacking) makes the game too easy, simply unequip the Prevasion Chain.

Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow has been rated by the ESRB for the WiiU. October 23 or 30th release on VC seems even more likely now.

Hopefully whatever week is non-CV, is given to Gargoyle's Quest II or Demon's Crest. (Or both!)

Legend of Dark Witch looks cool, hopefully it'll give me the Mega Man experience that Azure Gunvolt and its garbage framerate failed to provide.

Ballpoint Universe and Paper Monsters Recut have a kinda similar aesthetic, too, which makes it even worse.

Yep. I hope they're good, though. I've been excited to play both for a while.

I think this is my first time hearing about this one. It looks alright. Not really big on the art style.

ETA: just watched some footage. It looks much, much better in motion:

Man, between your comments about Gunvolt's framerate and your post about how "Harmony of Dissonance the worst music in any videogame ever," you sure are a person of extremes. There's a space in between, you know. Exaggerating for the sake of doing it doesn't make you look smarter or makes you win any arguments and it doesn't give more weight to your opinion. It's alright to not like something yet understand how it work for someone else.

I know, I know, "it's just my opinion" and all that. But there has to be a way to express your opinion without resorting to hyperbolistic and frankly childish behavior. It's like you're trying to win an imaginary argument or pick a fight with these kind of posts. You're not really bringing anything to a conversation by doing this except conflict, and that's just not very nice to hang around with.

I'm sorry for the off-topic post. Please try to ignore it.

"Harmony of Dissonance has shitty music" and "30 fps is bad for action games" aren't extreme opinions at all, in fact they're pretty commonly held. Put me on ignore if my opinions offend you that much.

"Shitty music" and "worst videogame music ever" isn't the same, neither are "Bad for action games" and "unplayable" or "garbage." Jumping from "the music could be better" and "I wish it was 60fps," which are feelings I more or less share, to what you posted in indeed jumping to extremes. But that's ok, you can post what you want and I am no one to tell you how to post it, just know that it's not a very nice way to express your feelings and that there are ways that could work out better for you. I am not offended and I don't think that was the tone of my post (puzzled is closer to what I am.) Like I said in my post, you could have also ignored me.

I think we should stop, others are looking at us funny.

Nintendo has posted on Facebook a new trailer for Citizen of Earth (coming to Wii U and 3ds).

Really wish I had kept up with staying in the Beta for this game.
Had a couple of other things going on at the time, and couldn't keep up with things.

But, the game overcame my initial concerns, and was pretty impressive when I played it (and I'm sure is even moreso now)
Really looking forward to it.

New Wii U title "Underground" aims to help surgeons practice laparoscopic surgery

Tengami may hit in November

Scram Kitty's patch hit about 24 hours ago. No formal announcement yet so I'm not sure what's different. According to a player on Miiverse, you are now invincible when double-jumping. My understanding is that the whole experience has been tweaked, so I'm going to hold off making a new thread about this until we have more concrete info.

GameFly has changed its 12/31/14 placeholder for Capt. Toad to the date above. Could mean something, could mean nothing. Hopefully we'll know soon.

nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

I'm not ready to believe this yet (flashes of DK's delay a year ago...on 10/1/13...but at least in that case we had 3DW to look forward to, this year there aren't any similar kinds of games I want. *pouting*)

Pretty cool that they're finally talking about Underground (and showing media) When the USK rating popped up for it, I searched for what it was, whichlead me to the Grendel website. The only thing they had up at the time was some weird essay about Underground being a 'serious play game'.

Sucks that Captain Toad won't be out till 2015, but if it's like Feb 2015, that might be a good thing, as to help fill those gaps.

The demo for my game (ZaciSa) is now done and will be submitted to Nintendo tonight (just got to make the icon for it). Includes 4 maps, Easy/Hard mode (no Endless), and max 10 levels. What do you think would be a good demo limit for a arcade scoring tower defense type game like this? I'm thinking 15.

P.S. Also putting game on sale for 3 weeks starting this Thursday for $0.99. Will be interesting to see how it does.

I never actually believed that Captain Toad was 2014.

....Why wouldn't it have been?

Do you have to put a limit on? In the interest of goodwill, I would make it at last 25.

15 sounds more than fair, does anyone seriously need to play a demo more than that, especially when the game is cheap as chips

Edit - any closer to a European release yet?

Actually reverted to the cerberus (starting) gun, I forgot it was automatic. That's an easy enough choice.

Yeah, I got the double jump (barely enough mats to make anything else of note yet), it's nice, but very expensive EP wise

The eshop fucked up for anyone else at the mo? Just bought teslagrad no problems but then bought master reboot and it kept messing up and eventually got an error, went back to the eshop and it says I've purchased but not download, got another error, now it won't let me in the eshop at all :(

Captain Toad always seemed like a better January release. Mario Party 10 should have been the release for early December.

Nintendo hasn't released a game in January for 3DS or Wii U. The last game they released in a January was Glory of Heracles for DS in 2010. Before that, it was Advance Wars DS and Endless Ocean in 2008. (Also, except for Wii Sports Club, which is an eShop re-release, Nintendo hasn't released a game in July for Wii U or 3DS, and hasn't released any original game in a July since 2010, with DQ IX. Before that, it was Wii Sports Resort in 2009, and prior to that, it was Picross DS and Mario Strikers Charged in 2007.)

Considering SSB Wii U is gonna be a huge holiday seller, I wouldn't be surprised if they waited on Captain Toad and didn't release any other Wii U titles in Dec.

February then.

I just feel that MP10 is better suited for December, as it serves as a good game for family get-togethers. I know they have Smash and Mario Kart, but Mario Party is casual-friendly enough for families to play together.

I think you're absolutely right. At this point, though, I would be surprised if we see MP10 before Q2 2014, especially given Amiibo inclusion.

Put the maximum limit allowed, that's it. You're not going to lose on sales because of that, especially for a game that cheap and in its genre and you're only gonna get ill sentiments towards you if you put a stricter limit. My two cents

Wii Fit U came out in January ;)

You know, I was thinking a demo would do wonders for visibility on the eShop given that there's so few, and Nintendo puts a big button on there permanently but switches through like the same three games to promote it.

Ah...shit. But! I have an answer for that. It's actually an eShop retail package rather than a new original game, same as Wii Sports Club HD. Plus, the Fit meter was available back in 11/2013, and that was an integral physical piece of the puzzle. I dunno. That's a very odd case (and I adore Wii Fit U).

If it makes you feel better, it was originally scheduled for December '13 but then landed in January :)

The same thing might just happen to Toad. Remember how it has a January date in Europe, too.

I'd love to be wrong (if it is delayed), but I just don't believe they would release it in January. They seem really opposed to January and July releases. I think they know most kids are getting a Christmas present and not going to be able to get Capt. Toad in January so soon afterwards. I think they also know July is when school's out and that kids are outdoors more and playing games inside less. That's my estimation of their thought process, at least. :)

(Either way, I really, really hope it's not delayed).

Not sure. Don't think I'll get to choose the limit till it's approved in lotcheck. But certainly not doing limitless, lol..

Nope. Been rather slow/lazy at it if I'm honest. Being busy with Minecraftwork isn't helping haha. I need to get back on getting it translated. I've started up an excel list of things needing translated and will send that out for help this week. Will aim for a PEGI launch of late this year though. USK next year. Sorry Germany GAF :(

Good point! I'll do 30 then. I have seen people make such melodramatic posts about a game having a limit on it. I understand complaining about a demo with 3 uses on it, but if you are bitching about a demo that has 15+ plus for a $2 game, that person have issues! haha

Same. The added visibility will be a nice benefit.
