Assassin's Creed "Parity": Unity is 900p/30fps on both PS4 & Xbox One

I don't know how much the rest of you know about French culture (I'm an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It's not like it is in America where you can become successful by being an asshole. If you screw someone over in France, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.

What this means is the french public, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase Assassins Creed Unity for either system, nor will they purchase any of Ubisofts's games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Ubisoft has alienated an entire market with this move.

Ubisoft, publicly apologize and make Asssassins Creed Unity 1080p/60 FPS on PS4 or you can kiss your business goodbye.

The irony is that this copy pasta is how people are actually treating this news. I remember this same shit happening for Watch Dogs when it was 900p 30fps for PS4 and the same comments happened

"Oh I'm cancelling my pre order"

"Oh thanks ubisoft for making the decission not to buy your game easier"

And Watch Dogs ends up being the best debut for a new IP from ubisoft.

Fuck I think GAF has gotten even more hilarious when it comes to this resolution outrage. People are cancelling pocket watch pre orders.

What "debate" are they even trying to avoid? 1080p is better than 900p. If you really like XBox brand you can still get the 900p versions of games and that will still look alright. That's about all there is to it. There's no debate there.
 
Hmmmm.... It seems that this will be going on the laundry list of bullshit Ubisoft has said this year.

Tbh, I don't care, but a lot of people will because they obviously know and seen evidently that it is a ball faced lie, especially coming from them who has shown they can hit those goals..... Primarily on another console.

Whichever the case, I still feel Unity looks good. Hopefully everything they have claimed to fix is fixed.
 
Here's how the next week will go.

The anger amongst the internet will pick up steam.
Games journalists will laugh and claim that everyone are idiots for caring about this.
The internet public won't care about what the journalists say.
Ubisoft will retract the statement and claim it's pushing both systems to the max and that resolution hasn't been locked in yet.
The game will have a patch for 1080p on PS4.
The games journalists will once again prove that they are becoming largely irrelevant and don't speak for the public.
 
Lmao, even if it were true you would think they would have enough sense not to say it out loud. Just say the stuff about the CPU limiting the AI and leave it at that. If i were the Ubisoft CEO i would be fuming at that parity comment.

This is absolute nonsense. If your scenario were true, console gaming would be dead, and the PS3 would never have sold as many multi platform games as it did.

If people want a game, they buy it for the console they own, and if they have multiple consoles, the best version of the game based on their requirements.
 
Not exactly surprised, it sounds easier to develop this way than to try and optimize performance for each platform. Still pretty disappointing to see that system wars plays a part in the technical decisions being made behind AAA games, that quote about avoiding a debate is not a good look and a pretty poor justification for console parity that didn't arise from technical limitations or time constraints. The cynic in me says this didn't come for free, but who knows what deals are made behind close doors nowadays.

Forced parity is bullshit. These same discussions occurred in 360vPs3 multiplats yet that was never a problem for companies. Now that Microsoft has the weaker console suddenly we have to have forced parity. I would love to play Destiny with less jaggies and better overall lighting and whatnot but guess what, Bungie had to have parity also.

It's bullshit and only lost sales would change this

I also never said I was 'ok' with anything, either way. As a PC gamer, I deal with having my games 'gimped' all the time by consoles. I don't complain about it. But then again, I also generally get to choose things like resolution myself. Its a trade-off.

From one PC gamer to another, we are more restrained by mid-low level PCs than we are by consoles because it's not like if consoles didn't exist developers would suddenly start targeting the Titan.

I feel burned tbh, I dont like the version im buying to be sub par due to the competitions weakness... It was a nailed on purchase for me, all previous iterations have been bought, there are plenty of games out this xmas, this SERIOUSLY has made me reconsider its purchase.

Why are they focusing on CPU bound statements when that is not the reason Xbox can't do 1080p to start with. Would love to read on if what their saying is accurate anyway, always thought it would take a while for devs to get used to the asynchronous gpgpu

Ubisoft wanted to avoid discussion over the differences in performance.
